After studying at Cass Tech High School and Wayne State University in MI, I have enjoyed teaching privately, in groups, and at churches, I have performed vocally and instrumentally throughout the US and in 8 foreign countries, and taught at public, charter, and private schools. It is important to tailor each lesson to a student's individual needs and ability to ensure that their experience is as rewarding as possible!

Great patience and understanding

We have had 4 or 5 lessons now with Michael and with each one, my 9 year old son learns so much. I'm amazed at the pace at which he is moving; Michael had him playing a song after his first lesson. We sometimes do lessons at Michael's location and other times on Skype. My son really likes Michael and he wants to work hard and keep learning. I highly recommend guitar with Michael.
I have studied music for 26 years. Piano was my first instrument and I have taken classical lessons from an early age and studied jazz piano for 14 years. I play guitar at the same level as piano. I play jazz, classical, flamenco and rock guitar; acoustic, electric and 9-string electric. I have studied at University of North Texas, Musicians institute and have a bachelor's of music from UNM. I have a certification in early childhood education and love to teach children, as well as adults of all ages.
*** Lesson Details *** I am very patient and flexible. I work with the student to design curriculum that is exciting and engaging for their individual level. Students enjoy studying with me because they can progress quickly if they practice and because I am easy to talk to and work with.
*** Studio Equipment *** The In-Studio
lessons are taught in the music room in the home which includes an 88 key weighted keyboard, 5 guitars, 3 amps
*** Travel Equipment *** If I go to their house, I expect them to have their own instruments that they practice on during the week, a metronome, a tuner and the music books they are working on.
*** Specialties *** I specialize in jazz, rock and classical music. I usually allow the students or their parents to choose their method books based on their interests and goals.
He has taught me a lot. Lessons are not rushed. He allows me to learn based on my own interests, but also teaches a lot of basics of technique and music theory. The location is convenient to downtown Albuquerque and UNM neighborhood.

Chris is easy to learn with, and knowledgeable. Is always patient and never makes you feel rushed, yet, makes sure you are constantly improving. He directs your playing in the style and direction you want to reach while exposing you to new styles along the way. Great teacher.
I have been teaching this subject for over 17 years. There is no specific curriculum as each student will come to lessons with their own unique skills, needs, and goals. Lessons are tailored to those specifics. Lessons involve building aural skills including interval and chord (triads and 7ths) identification, harmonic and melodic dictation, sight singing, and other exercises. Lessons are particularly useful in augmenting classroom study and performance projects.
Composer Troy W. graduated from the New England Conservatory, earning his Bachelors, Masters (cum laude) and Graduate Diploma while studying with mentor Malcolm Peyton. After spending a year studying with Lukas Foss in Boston, Mr. W. moved to Houston in 2001 where he continued graduate studies at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music.
During his time as a teacher with the Michael P. Hammond Preparatory Program at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, Troy taught classes in music fundamentals and music theory for pre-college students. He has also served on the faculty of the Summer Institute for Piano teaching courses in Form & Analysis for pre-college students.
Troy also has maintained a private studio, tutoring and teaching private lessons in composition, ear training, voice, piano, literature, and history for over ten
years. Students who have studied with him come from a wide range of backgrounds with different goals. Those who have continued with musical studies in college have consistently placed out of at least the first two semesters of music theory and achieved advanced placement in their chosen fields of study. Those who chose a different path continue to benefit from the education and training they received from taking music lessons.
*** Lesson Details *** There is no "standard formula" to lessons. Each student has their own unique background, needs, and goals. Lessons tend to be somewhat casual but are structured in such a way as to meet the unique requirements of the student.
To accomplish your goals, there are a few requirements and basic expectations that the student and parent must meet. The first is practice. Students are expected to practice daily for at least the length of their lesson time. This, above all else, is essential to progress. It is also expected that a parent will attend lessons for students who are too young to drive themselves here. It's important for a parent to guide the student's practice time (particularly for younger students) to ensure that the most is gained from it. This is why I ask that a parent observe lessons. Each student or parent should bring to each lesson a notebook, pencils (with erasers). The notebook will be used to record notes about each lesson, homework, practice advice, etc. Pencils (not pens...nobody's perfect!) are used by composers to record their creations and performers to mark their music. Both of these essential practices are subject to changing thought and must be open to change. So no ink, please!
Performers: It is not necessary to know how to read music at the first lesson for beginners. However, learning to read is required for subsequent lessons and will be a large focus for all non-readers. Lessons are not learned "by ear." A certain amount of theory will be a part of every lesson just as technique and repertoire. Concerning repertoire, it will be selected based on the student's learning needs but also with their input. The main emphasis on performance lessons, however, will be technique and reading. Students should come to the first lesson prepared to discuss their background & goals and the plan of their course of study. Note: Voice students must be at least 16 years of age.
Composers: Just as with performers, it is not necessary to know how to read music at the first lesson. However, learning to read is required for subsequent lessons. Many young composers have great ideas but can only hear them in their heads or play them on an instrument. Lessons will allow you to obtain the skills to write them down with greater speed, accuracy, and clarity. More advance students will also include exploring a wider range of harmonic languages, advanced notation, instrumentation, orchestration, and aural skills. Students should come to the first lesson with examples of their work, either written, notated, or recorded in a digital format. They should be prepared to discuss their background & goals and the plan of their course of study.
IMPORTANT NOTES: • To reschedule a lesson, more than one day notice is required.
• Make up lessons must be scheduled before the next regular lesson.
• A make up lesson cannot be scheduled in place of a regular lesson.
• If, for any reason, two 30-minute lessons are scheduled one right after the other, they will be charged as two 30-minute lessons, not one 60 minute lesson which is a different rate.
• If, for any reason, two 45-minute lessons are scheduled one right after the other, they will be charged as two 45-minute lessons, not one 90 minute lesson which is a different rate.
• the studio space is also inhabited by two lovely cats. Do consider this when signing up for lessons.
*** Studio Equipment *** Pearl River 48" professional studio upright piano Yamaha DGX-650 weighted 88 keys full sized keyboard area for parents to sit and observe lessons.
*** Specialties *** Main area is in classical music and media scoring with secondary focus on musical theatre vocal performance and composing/arranging.
I started off playing piano by ear and then found out that I have perfect pitch. I am also really good at memorizing music and could help students break music down into memorable moments so that things are easier for them. I also train students to know the difference between notes and intervals. I also see color in my mind when I hear notes, so the visual aspect is something we could also take a look at in lessons.
With my two Bachelor's degrees in Music Composition and Technology, I began tutoring students in piano, voice, and composition as it was part of my training. I also have experience writing and editing essays, books, and more for several independent clients. I have experience writing my own books as well. I have written two so far, but am getting ready to write a third. I am a copious editor and can catch grammatical and other errors with ease. This is why tutoring in English would be great for me. I thought I would add basic math for those school-aged children that are having a little trouble with it in their classes. Usually, I teach lessons in my home in Diamond Bar or online, but if the need arises, I could surely work out coming to the students' homes for one-on-one tutoring help. With me, most students click after a few lessons and
understand what they couldn't in the classroom. I help the students by teaching in innovative ways that will catch their attention more than standard teaching methods. Students should consider me for I can make learning fun and never a chore!
*** Lesson Details *** I use a wide variety of techniques to sing, play piano and other instruments. Techniques include straight vowel singing (no words) to test how long to hold notes, using color to help people sight read, using improvisational techniques in order to play jazz, rock, classical and many other styles of music. I use what they student has under his or her belt as a starting point to see what lessons we could start them on. I also assist with online lessons to make transportation a thing of the past. If you've got a webcam or Skype, I can do long-distance lessons with you! So, I am here to help!
*** Studio Equipment *** Alesis Recital Keyboard Music sheets Web cam Mac computer (MacBook Pro) Finale music notation software to help in composition and theory lessons.
*** Travel Equipment *** Music paper for away lessons. Finale for composition and music theory lessons. Can use macbook for more elaborate teaching or demonstration if need be.
*** Specialties *** I do teach classical composition with specialties in ensemble and chamber music. I also specialize in songwriting for pop and other media. I teach voice and vocal techniques of sacred choral and vocal music. I teach classical and jazz piano and improvisation. I also have the distinction in being able to teach students with special needs or learning disabilities as I have a mild form of cerebral palsy and understand what students with special needs go through.

Ear training is important when it comes to being a good overall musician and singer. I work with students to be able to identify chords, chord progressions, pitches, and more! This can also be a part of piano and singing lessons depending on the students level and goals.
Hello everyone! I've been singing since the age of 3 and performing since the age of 6. I am not only an experienced music teacher with a passion for music and teaching, but an experienced performer, and songwriter. I started performing at a young age with the Columbia School of Theatrical Arts, and as I grew older I studied different techniques such as speech level singing, classical, and even techniques from Brett Manning, one of the most amazing vocal coaches today who teaches artists such as Haley Williams from Paramore. I have experience performing many styles of music, and also was a voice major in college. The students I teach will benefit from my contemporary techniques, and can learn to sing in almost any style of music they choose.
*** Lesson Details *** Do you want to learn how to sing your favorite song just like the artist?
I can teach you the techniques! Or how about how to make a cover song your own based off of your own unique voice? We can work together to find, develop, and build the amazing qualities that you have in your voice. I will not only work on aspects of what you would like to improve on with your voice personally, but I will make an individual plan for you that will dramatically improve your voice! I will work with you individually to strengthen any weakness you may have in a fun environment. I am fun, encouraging and motivating! When asking students to do any vocal exercises, I will explain what the certain exercise does to improve your voice so that you can have the knowledge you need to be a good vocalist, and not just know how to sing properly. You will learn many things in lessons and what I teach you will vary on where you are vocally.
*** Travel Equipment *** I can provide a keyboard, CD, Boom box, music sheets, etc. Students do not need to provide anything.
*** Specialties *** Speech level singing method, classical techniques, singing success, various genres including: pop, blues, contemporary, and musical theatre. I utilize the different techniques I have learned through proper classical training, but mix it with contemporary methods I have learned from speech level singing methods.
Lynzi is very knowledgable with vocal training and an excellent singer as well. I explained issues with my voice and she gave great tips to help strengthen my singing. The main thing is that she listened to my needs and heard what was going on with me vocally. I already hear a difference with my singing after one lesson and doing what she told me to do. That’s what makes Lynzi a great instructor.
December 8, 2018
Our 10 year old granddaughter loved her lesson!!
July 4, 2018
Lynzi is professional and doesn’t waste any time getting started, while at the same time keeping things light and fun. I highly recommend her as an instructor!
More comprehensive instruction in music theory and ear-training, already integrated into piano lessons, is offered in separate classes as well.
Ask me: What is the music in my life? And I'll tell you - Music is everything! Having captured my heart since childhood, music still captivates me in its endless vistas. In my childhood I had a small model of a real piano and used to insert the sheets on the music stand and setting the dolls in front as an audience imagined myself giving concerts. Musical art was for me not just a fad - the music became my profession. Piano is amazing and is the perfect tool with which you can create a variety of images and indulge in any mood - with it you can share sadness and joy, talk about anything. I would be happy to introduce you to the multifaceted and vast expanses of the art of playing the piano. Alina U an accomplished Ukrainian born pianist, teacher, chamber performer and accompanist. She has appeared on different performing venues in
Ukraine, Egypt, Spain, Morocco and US. Alina’s desire to become an artist came at an early age. She performed songs and poetry at all family events, but her dream was to learn how to play the piano. She had a small model of a real piano and she used to insert the sheets on the music stand and setting the dolls in front as an audience imagined herself giving concerts.
She began her piano studies at the age of 7 at the Children Musical School No.1 in Sumy, Ukraine and gave her first solo recital ‘’Evening of Waltzes’’ at the age of 11. Alina continued her education with D. Bortnianskiy High School of Arts and Culture, Sumy, Ukraine, were she got an Associate degree in Music Art. Through education in National P.I. Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine in the class of distinguished pianist Lyudmila Martcevich. Ms. U. was performing at National Philharmonic of Ukraine, National P.I. Tchaikovsky Music Academy of Ukraine, Kiev’s House of Teachers and National Museum of Literature in Ukraine and many others. While studying in Ukraine Ms. U. was participating in numerous regional and national competitions and festivals.
Throughout her studies, Alina had the opportunity of working with a number of distinguished piano teachers such as Valentina Skoromnaya, Nelli Ldova, Aleksandr Ldov, Lyudmila Martcevich, Nancy Weems, Timothy Hester, and Brian Suit. Ms. U. also participated in master classes with Michail Stepanenko, Alla Zadirackaya, Iya Pavlova, Cristina Capparelli Gerling and others prominent musicians. Ms. U. holds a Master’s degree in Applied Piano Performance from Moores School of Music, University of Houston. From Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine she holds a second Master’s degree, major in Piano Performance and minor in Piano Pedagogy, Chamber Ensemble, and Accompaniment.
Ms. U. has taught for over 17 years. Her pedagogical experience includes teaching the students of all ages and all skill levels, from five years old to adult, from beginner to advance players. Beside her pedagogical carrier in US as well in her native Ukraine, Alina also taught the piano in Egypt and Morocco. Her passion to provide the best knowledge to each student’s needs and abilities. This allows her to tailor each lesson accordingly to each student. Her goal is to enrich the lives of children and others by providing the understanding of music, fostering the enjoyment and inspiring musical imagination. Ms. U. currently is a member of faculty in International Music Academy and St. Andrew School of Art.
The teaching methods focus on nurturing and developing the talents and musical abilities of each student by providing a well-rounded musical education. It incorporates principles and techniques of the Russian classical piano school, and includes repertoire from different styles of music, such as jazz, pop, folk, etc. Classically trained students develop the highest level of skill and ability on their instrument, and acquire a superior knowledge of music in general. An essential element of teaching is to develop a comprehensive knowledge of musical content, such as note reading, rhythm, harmony, structural analysis and many other aspects of music and its components. More comprehensive instruction in music theory and ear-training, already integrated into piano lessons, is offered in separate classes as well.
*** Practice guidance and expectations***
- Lesson’s regular attendance is very important to ensure student success.
- In order to progress satisfactorily, daily quality practice is necessary and required. Students should practice each day for the length of their lesson.
-Detailed assignments for each piece will be written weekly in student’s notebook. To help your child develop self-discipline and good practice habits, schedule a regular time for practice each day. The practice session can be done all at once or divided into two or more sessions. Younger children especially need help with their practicing.
-The practice environment should be treated as a studying place free from interruptions (family, friends, TV, phone, tablet, computer, etc.). Parents support and cooperation is a must for a child's musical growth.
*** Parental Responsibilities***
- Encourage progress! Many small steps throughout the year yield great results. Important note: Sometime during the course of taking piano lessons, your child may say something like, “I don’t want to practice,” or “I’m too tired to go to piano lessons,” or “I don’t want to go- I want to play with my friends,” “I want to quit,” etc. Just be aware that your child’s interest will probably not be consistent; but to be successful, you will need to be consistent in your encouragement and commitment to music instruction. In most cases, simply acknowledge your child’s comments, but then go on with your normal routine just as you would if you heard the comment, “I don’t want to brush my teeth,” “I don’t want to stop playing with my toys,” or “I don’t want to go to bed.”
- Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend lessons at any time, but SHOULD NOT interfere in the process of the lesson no matter how well intended it may be.
- Please don’t hesitate to communicate with the teacher any questions or concerns you may have about your child’s progress. Communication with parents is vital to a child’s progress. Please feel free to chat with your instructor during the lesson time. Your instructor will generally allot a few minutes at the beginning of each lesson to communicate with the Parent. We ask that you please keep in mind that we are not available beyond your scheduled time, so as not to impede on the lesson time of the next student. If you would like to discuss anything beyond, please feel free to email your teacher, or call and leave a message.
***Make-up policy*** Notify the teacher at least 24 hours in advance if the student cannot attend the lesson. There are no refunds for missed lesson. Occasionally the teacher might have schedule conflict due to performing activity. If a teacher is absent, a make-up lesson will be scheduled at a mutually convenient time. Scheduled make-up lessons missed by the student will not be made up.

ualifications are absolutely top-notch and I very much endorse him. For anyone seeking to learn piano, music theory, ear training, or other musical skills, you will find in Howard the rare combination of heart, insight and virtuosity."

"Ms. Jackson is a dynamic teacher whose energy elevates my soul!"
"My musical experience was playing a lot of bass from tabs or from others telling me where to follow along from. Mesrop was very helpful at helping hone my
ear to follow along and distinguish notes and rhythm more clearly."
"I needed help singing in the church choir. Rebekah was amazing and personally took the time to teach me and work with me to help me to be able to sing
in the choir on Christmas Eve. She was very patient and never criticized, but gently taught me to sing various styles of notes. I'm not a musical person, so I can't really get the terminology right, but she helped me to be able to located the different notes in the hymnal as I was singing. On Christmas Eve, with Rebekah's lessons, I accomplished what we had set out to do and was able to sing in the Christmas Eve service.
I've also known Rebekah personally for a long time now. She is full of personality and is exciting to be around. She is very professional and kind to all of her students. She is patient, considerate, and her students thrive under her supervision. I would highly recommend anyone to chose Rebekah as their personal instructor and not only for themselves, but for their children as well."
"Carlos is an Amazing teacher, he was a wonderful method."
"Wanted to work on my ear training and I was recommended to Emi from a friend in Texas. We set up a call and I learned more in one hour then I have my whol
e musical career"
"She's a really patient teacher, and she helped me a lot. After the lesson with her, I analyzed how to listen to the bass line quickly. She also taught me
a lot short hands for ear training. I hope I could take her lesson again."
"Billy's approach to ear training really helped me a lot! He went at my pace and made references to popular song a to hear chords that, without context, ar
e hard to hear. He accommodated to my way of learning and went from there. I still use some of the methods he's taught me till this day!"
