Japanese calligraphy is a form of calligraphy, or artistic writing, of the Japanese language.
In modern calligraphy, a number of tools are used to make a composition. Most basic four tools were collectively called Four Treasures of the Study. You need to purchase at Japanese store or internet store.
1. A brush 2. An ink stick (sumi). 3. Mulberry paper (washi) 4. An ink stone (suzuri) to grind the inkstick against, mixed with water.
5. A paper weight (bunchin) to hold the paper in place 6. A cloth (shi ta ji ki) to place under the paper (often newsprint is used as well) to prevent ink from bleeding through.

Welcome! My name is Toshi M. I was born in Hiroshima City and raised in Tokyo, Japan.
I am a veteran Japanese language tutor with over 15 years of experience. I teach people of all ages (from 2 to 85 years old) from all over the world, both in person and through online platforms.
I am currently working with a new project through Google called, "Ok Glass." It's a data collection project that leads to the betterment of Google products for voice search capabilities in their Google search engine, Chrome software and Google Glass. Google has chosen me to record, translate and transcribe for these projects within the Japanese division!
***Please read my entire page including the Cancellation, reschedule and late Policy carefully before purchasing lessons!!***
My tutoring policy is not just simply to teach the Japanese language as
a Japanese. No, I always want to teach students more than the language.
If you are interested in the Japanese traditions as well as the language and traditions, then that is a good start for learning. Fun, interest and enjoyment are the best tools for learning with my tutoring.
You will not only be able to speak Japanese, but you will grasp the traits of the Japanese language, traditions, history, culture, and, most importantly, the uniquely Japanese styles of courtesy and customs simultaneously!
I teach practical Japanese so you can actually communicate and exchange proper responses with real Japanese with a sense of smooth conversation. My teaching method varies depending on the student's level.
Are you struggling?
Perhaps you went to a Japanese language school, but when you saw Japanese anime or movies you still did not understand? Then you wondered WHY, didn't you! After all, you paid so much money for school!
Here is the answer: most of the school are not teaching true and complete Japanese! Yes, they are teaching proper Japanese very well. but it only works for some test like a JLPT or speaking at work.
The SECRET is that Japanese people do not speak proper Japanese all the time. They usually speak casual, informal Japanese when they are talking with friends and family, and there are gender differences in spoken Japanese!
Japanese movies and anime cartoons, manga, are mostly stories of friends and family, NOT stories of formal work.
That is why you need to know proper Japanese and casual, informal Japanese both! The Japanese culture and language have customs and orders which you must know and understand completely!
I teach both of these structures at the same time. You need to know when and how to change from proper verbs to casual, informal verbs, and then you will begin to understand the Japanese anime and movies!
I am very strong in teaching proper Japanese, including reading and writing Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji. If you are only interested in JLPT Training (any level) or AP Japanese Language and Culture, we can certainly work with that.
However, I also teach business Japanese, word beautification, gender differences in spoken Japanese, proper and casual conversations, polite language, humble language, and respectful verbs. This is necessary for improving your personal and business relations!
I also teach Japanese slang along with many other aspects of the Japanese culture. Whatever you need or want to learn, I am here to assist you!
Whether you are a beginner or an advanced student, I can tutor you in private lessons at your computer. I am experienced with teaching all levels and all ages!
I give a fun, relaxed lesson and work to teach the precise and gentle true Japanese way in a friendly and open-minded one-on-one session or group lessons via Skype.
I believe you will find everything you need, because I am focused on providing high-quality service and customer satisfaction. I will do everything I can to meet your expectations, and with a variety of offerings to choose from, I am sure you will be happy working with me!
I also teach ORIGAMI (Japanese art of paper folding), Japanese Calligraphy, how to make SUSHI, and how to hold the Japanese Traditional Tea Ceremony, How to make healthy Japanese foods. I am able to give you information about J-POP and traditional Japanese songs as well. We can have fun with those, too.
If you would like to have a lesson once per week or twice per week, let's discuss the possibilities!
I do not usually set up a specific 10-hour or 20-hour plan, because it all depends on the student's level.
I then find the best speed for each student. At that point, if you want to stop at 10 hours, that is fine, and you can stop! Or, if you want to continue to do the class, you can continue. You may stop at 8, 15 or 30 sessions... whatever is best for you!
Do you want to speak Japanese for a few conversations... or do you want to speak Japanese fluently? Or perhaps you want to take a Japanese Language Proficiency Test or AP Japanese Language and Culture Test? That all depends on your achievement!
You can let me know if you want to continue or not anytime! Let's go from there!
If you have any questions about my tutoring, please feel free to contact me through TakeLessons.com.
Hope to see you soon, I look forward to lesson with you! :)
Have an awesome day and God Bless!

Inside my art studio I have had artists stick to my belief that a sketchbook and a journal with pencils is the best way to improve.
Happy Drawing and remember my favorite words "Just Paint"!

About Kayla Louven
Kayla is a self-taught, modern calligrapher who is excited about sharing the skill of writing beautifully with her community. From watching several hours of calligraphy tutorials online to spending lots of money on writing supplies and workbooks, she simplifies calligraphy and makes it easier to understand. Whether you are just beginning or are advanced at penmanship, Kayla teaches those who desire to enhance their own handwriting and transform it into the art of calligraphy. As a calligrapher for three years now, she has been privileged to work with brides and graduates from all over the Inland Empire, by addressing wedding envelopes, creating event signage, and lettering on graduation caps. Kayla has been teaching calligraphy at senior living facilities as well. She is highly recommended by her students and desires to expand her student
demographic because she believes this art, among the rest, is for all ages to learn and enjoy. Truly, calligraphy is an art that keeps on giving and a skill she'd be honored to gift you through her lessons.
Educated in Europe, I was always inspired by my teachers and travels to continue honing my artistic skills. With practice, anybody can develop their own style, and I believe it's my duty to pass on the knowledge that was instilled in me as a young artist. Expression of one's soul in art may be sometimes stronger than words, something that psychologists have proven for years. Practicing calligraphy is very rewarding in time but the most important tool is knowing the cursive letters of the alphabet. Or learning them with me. Rate is for online courses. A $15 fee applies to personal courses face-to-face.
Before reading about me, I'd like to share up front the honor that my newest student, R., has brought to me by choosing to learn Romanian. Nothing special so far except that he is 100 years old!!!! Yes, you read that correctly: a century old. He is the outmost inspiring person in my life by teaching me that age is just a number and that learning can happen any day if we choose so. R is a medical doctor, a psychologist, a chemist and biologist. Words can't even define how great of a man he is and how grateful I am to learn from him, too. For instance, about a famous language called "esperanto", a language created in the late 19th century.
I'm an enthusiastic learner even after 19 years of formal education (two Masters, one Bachelor) earned on two continents continued by US military education in various forms, and formally tested studen
t who needed to document skills that were not formally captured on paper (like the foreign languages I know).
I love interacting with people and pass on my knowledge from five visited continents, instill love for learning and continuous curiosity for any subject out there. Nothing is impossible when you set your mind to it. Failing once doesn't mean that you'll never win (proof in my athletic years and life ever since); determination, hard work, self-motivation and a good supporting system can bring to reality even the most insignificant dreams that we believe may not come true, and especially those in which we passionately trust.
I believe in breaking down a goal into objectives, assigning tasks to each one of them, and then sticking to achieve them.
I'm a Certified Instructor with the Department of Homeland Security. My hobbies include practicing foreign languages (and proper grammar rules which highly reflect on one's education) by speaking them, learning about cultures and slangs, etymology, watching foreign movies, traveling internationally, taking photos, reading (a lot), carefully planning with room for error and impulsive decisions (to take the boredom out of things), meeting with life long friends, drawing, painting, and spending time outdoors for inspiration and health.
I'm elated at the opportunity of brainstorming with you and giving you tools to be an independent learner.
Hi, I'm Jill. Let's roll up our sleeves and go shopping for paint, pens, and paper. Welcome to the beautiful, relaxing, and elegant art of watercolor calligraphy! I'll be taking you through some fundamental principles of art and calligraphy. We will explore a some of the cultural origins, go shopping for supplies, discuss design elements, practice several styles with the abundance of bonus worksheets, learn the professional background tips that can be applied to future design projects (think logos therefor), and produce a final masterpiece worthy of an ornate frame. The scope of what you will take away will inevitably be broadened! La macchina da scrivere. That's Italian for type writer. Although this term is one of my all-time favorites to pronounce, I abhor the typing process. I can do it, so now I tell my computer what to say. Allow me to digress a little further to deepen your understanding of what I am about to teach you. I'm an artist, not a typist. I can paint a lot ...
Join me for the creative unleashing of highly effective processes of learning success. Your instruction will include: A. creative problem solving (unleashing the genius within) B. formation; a foundation is planned (architect) C. building; drafts are written (carpenter) D. finishing; the writing is polished (finishing editor/proofreader) I've used these guiding principles countless times in my life. Just as a jeweler would not be able to sell rough stones, Jill would not have been able to make anything in the publishing field without employing these principles. Her college papers would have been fair to dull rocks. She can say this as the daughter of a bricklayer who was the son of a stonemason in a familial line that dates back to middle 1600. So, of course, I did learn about laying bricks and throwing rocks too. Not very many structures
stand the test of time when we throw rocks (rough drafts). Only with this brick, mortar, and finish will the building stand. But enough about my lineage. My capstone point is that the finishing point of any building or writing should communicate a great product. In creating this description I had the above principles in mind. My college papers, business papers, copywriting, web designs, resumes, and even informal conversations are inclusive of this process of which proofreading is a vital component. Why? Well, I might want to throw a rock at myself if I assume myself incapable of accomplishing as much. And as the daughter of a bricklayer, I think I know about bricks and buildings, and mortar, and capstones such as proofreading. So now at my concluding paragraph contains the capstone of what is called proofreading. Proofreading, as my gem of a teacher told me, is constructed with similar principles. It contains a precise methodology which assures great communication. I would like to involve you in this structure. Please step in the door so I may explain the steps involved in editing and proofreading as art, the elements and principles of Art and English as your toolkit, and design as your structured building of success!
I have studied and practiced various forms of calligraphy and am very experienced in these styles of calligraphy: modern calligraphy, hand lettering, brush lettering, faux calligraphy, and beginner Copperplate calligraphy.

Ms. Esther is a great teacher! She was very patient and explained everything very clearly to me so that I could understand. I’ve had multiple piano teachers, but she was the first one that helped me really progress in playing piano and understand music theory. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a piano teacher.

Esther is passionate and knowledgeable about music and she does an incredible job of sharing that passion and knowledge with her students. She instructed my two young boys in a music class along with 6 other young students. She was always prepared and taught the class a variety of musical instruments and the history behind each of them. She instilled a love for music and instruments, into my boys. We were sad to have her move so far away but the knowledge she passed along to my boys, is priceless. We highly recommend Mrs. Esther!

We were so glad to have Mrs. Esther for our daughters first music class. We loved her and so did our daughter! She is patient, kind, sweet and very knowledgeable in her instruction and we definitely recommend her. We wish she was back in South Florida for we are still searching for a piano teacher for our daughter. 🎶
