I have taught couple students past ten years ago and some of them have become an excellent piano player even started teaching others.

I usually do a consultation with my new students to see where they are at and select appropriate lesson books for them. One thing I do require from all of my piano students is that they need to practice everyday, even if it's just an hour. Practice makes perfect!

About Allen

I started learning piano when I was five and played classical for six years. I like to play by ear and also took a year lesson in improvisation. I graduated from San Jose State University with B.A. in Music Composition in 2002 and I've been composing ever since I was sixteen. I wrote a lot of Ch

The Ukulele is such a fun instrument to play. It's a small instrument with a big sound. There is actually 4 different sizes you can choose from: Soprano, Concert, Tenor, and Baritone. The first 3 have the same string arrangement which is
G, C, E, A, and the Baritone is D, G, B, E, which is the same tuning as the first 4 strings on a guitar. Soprano is the smallest and the Baritone is the largest. If you want the true Hawaiian sound you need the Soprano. If you have really big hands or thick fingers you might want to go with the Concert or Tenor size so it will be easier to play.

They are very affordable instruments. The one I have is a Fender U Uke it was around 109.00. It's easier then guitar because you don't have to press down as hard on the strings.

Some of my favorite Ukulele players and bands that incorporate it are Jack Johnson, Brian May from Queen, Beach Boys, Elvis, Israel Iz, and many more.

I teach beginner to intermediate level for single and group lessons.

I believe teaching needs to be tailor-fit to the individual. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to private instruction. Our lessons will begin by me getting to know who you are as a student and as a musician. We will determine what you want out of music and your instrument, then we will set goals to get there. All of this will be a collaboration between me and you. I believe that music must be a self-driven endeavor. It is a vehicle for self-discovery.

That being said, I do believe in having a solid technical foundation, and I will push you to develop a daily practice routine. I try to begin every lesson with a rudimental warmup, regardless of age or experience. I also try to include free-play time, playing together, or playing along to music with every session to have fun and develop creativity. I believe fun, creativity, and human-connection is what music is all about, and technique is the work you put in to make those things happen. We will always end on a positive note ...

"Although Gregory is more than capable of fine-tuning a more experienced voice, he was the perfect guy to start my vocal training. With no previous vocal training to speak of, he went to work right away with creating a trusting environment and tailoring my journey to my unique needs which lead to undeniable improvement within only a few months. I have always loved music and especially love to sing and Gregory taught me the fundamental skills that I needed to feel comfortable with my own voice which transpired into confidence in other areas as well! I can't say enough positive things about my experience, not only did I learn a whole lot, but I truly enjoyed each of my lessons!"
