Music theory is the study of the practices and possibilities of music. It generally derives from observation of how musicians and composers make music, but includes hypothetical speculation. Most commonly, the term describes the academic study and analysis of fundamental elements of music such as pitch, rhythm, harmony, and form, but also refers to descriptions, concepts, or beliefs related to music. Because of the ever-expanding conception of what constitutes music (see Definition of music), a more inclusive definition could be that music theory is the consideration of any sonic phenomena, including silence, as it relates to music.

I studied music at University of California, Santa Barbara, where I received my B.A. I currently work as a professional singer for various local opera companies, music theater groups, churches and temples. I am principal soprano for Opera A La Carte and have also soloed with Repertory Opera Company, Redlands Bowl Festival, Laguna Beach Chorale and Celestial Opera Company. I have worked extensively in Los Angeles schools performing musical assemblies for students in elementary and middle grades through Southland Opera, LA Opera and Guild Opera of Southern California. My teaching experience includes private voice lessons and master classes at Idyllwild School for the Arts.
*** Lesson Details *** I emphasize breathing techniques to free up the voice to expand your range and ease of singing. In
the lesson, we start with simple warm ups and vocalizes and then apply techniques to the songs you want to sing. I realize each student is different and I customize the lesson to the student's particular needs. I specialize in classical and music theater, however the basics of singing apply to all styles of music. In addition to working on breathing and technique for singing, we'll also focus on interpretation of the songs you are working on as well as how to overcome performance nervousness. Most students find that they are able to sing with more freedom, less tension and will have more confidence as they progress.

*** Lesson Details *** I do my absolute best to create a positive atmosphere for my students. Even when the students feel frustrated or stressed, it is important to inspire them and give them the fuel that they need. Though I am strict when it comes to homework and their about their studies. Every lesson at the beginning I will review what we learned previously and test them. then begin with proper breathing technique exercises, the cornerstone of all vocals. We move on to vocal exercises to condition the voice. Then we work on the songs that you are eager to sing!
I will use a piano when doing vocal warm ups and conditioning exercises. Students that play other instruments and accompany themselves when performing (such as a guitar) are encouraged to bring that instrument to their lessons. My goal is for them to gain the knowledge that they need to help reach their artistic goals. With all my lessons every student will be taught a basic run down of Music Theory. My students will always progress in what they do. They will have the discipline that they need and yet have fun and be filled with inspiration. Which is the most important thing, to be Inspired to do better.

*** Specialties *** I specialize in Musical Theatre, and Pop rock genres. When I teach my students I always have them learn a song of another language whether it's Spanish or Japanese. It helps with diction when they learn a song outside the English Language. Also, It helps them to learn another Language at the same time. Also, I give them a little anatomy class when they are learning how to sing. I give them a model of the Vocal Cords and different areas of the Larynx and which part works for the chest voice and the head voice.

I would absolutely recommend Rosita because I think she has the bestSpanish course for medical Spanish. It’s everything that you need without having to go through a bunch of unrelated Spanish vocabulary. I don’t really need to know how to order a meal, I want to find out how I can help my patient. I need to be able to communicate with my patients and understand what they’re saying back. It’s nice to have something so perfect for our profession. And I think that it’s also nice because it’s an interactive lesson. The training course is pretty easily accessible and you can go back and look up lessons and refresh what you need to look at.
I've been teaching music for 15 yrs on guitar, piano, bass, cello and bass. My students have ranged from from 5yrs to 75yrs of age. I have seen many student go on to join orchestras, bands, broadway shows or simply continued their education to a university or college. Being able to read music profeciently has given me the opportunity to teach off many method books but like to use Alfred Method, Mel Bay and Frederick Noad Method books. I teach many styles ranging from classical, jazz & blues, rock, contemporary and pop. At the age of 5 I received an organ and from that point on I embarked on a long life journey to indulge and learn more about music. In elementary, junior high and high school I was involved in any subject dealing with music. I joined school choirs, orchestras, bands, marching bands, jazz bands, musicals you name it. While enjoying all school music activities I was selected to join in honor county and state orchestras and choirs. In junior h
igh and high school I was selected to play for the Junior Pacific Symphony Orchestra, received scholarships to music summer camps, and was selected musician of the year. In college my quest continued with the Orange Coast College Orchestra, Praise Symphony Orchestra, Vanguard University Orchestra as well as guitar ensembles and college choir groups. I've also taken private lessons from Dr. Art David (Julliard graduate) in stand up bass as well as David Black (Pacific Symphony Orchestra) and classical guitar with Richard Glenn and David Murray. I've been teaching now for 15 years in guitar, classical guitar, bass guitar, stand up bass, cello, piano and voice ranging from 5 yr old to 65 yr old. My styles of music range from classical, jazz, rock, blues and contemporary. At this point I'm enjoying playing and singing in my church choir and worship team as well as teaching my two kids the joys of music. *** Lesson Details *** As a teacher I require all students to set time aside to practice. For without it, it is only wasting your time, your money and my time. I don't expect a total dedication to it but I do want to see some effort put into it. A little practice can go a long way and the more you do it, the faster you will progress and the more you will enjoy it. We will first start off with what you want out of music and the level you are at and go from there. Student can bring their own music either thru tabs, music sheet or just by ear but one thing I do expect is a student to learn how to read music notation. We will go thru the regular warm up exercises, material practiced during the week and any new music for the following week. Correct techniques in how to hold your instrument or voice procedures will be addressed. Music theory will also be part of the lesson as well as ear training. At the end of either 3 to 6 months you will have learned the basics of music and will be playing songs for you or someone else to enjoy. I will make it a total relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere but some dedication has to put on the students' part.

Ms. Lucy began studying violin with her father at the age of three. She attended Kunming Art Institute in Yunnan, China for junior and senior high school and than studied with Professor WeiJian Zhao from Central Music Conservatory in Beijing. She holds both AA and AS degree from Pasadena City College. where she served as the assistant concert master for many semesters. She also studied violin with Prof. Jay Zhong, former violin Professor at California State University, Los Angeles. Ms. Lucy is was a scholarship student at Bob Cole Conservatory of California State University, Long Beach. She studied with renowned violin pedagogue Linda Rose and served as concertmaster of the Bob Cole Conservatory orchestra, chamber orchestra and opera. Currently she's a student of Katia Popov, concertmaster of Hollywood Bowl Orchestra. She received her vi
olin performance BM degree in 2013.
Ms. Lucy has performed extensively throughout China, Hong Kong, and the United States and won many awards for her performances. At age six, she won 1st place at The Future Violinist Competition in Yunnan and continuously wining at different competitions around China. 1989 summer, Ms. Lucy held her solo recital at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and was a great success. Her most recent performances including: Solo violinist at 2005 New Universe Entertainment Academy; Performing with international tenor Oscar Zhang at UCI Barclay Theatre as guest solo violinist, with UCI symphony Orchestra, 2006. Guest Solo Violinist performing at Cerritos Performing Art Center in 2007. She also performed with different orchestras year round at different locations such as the Ford Amphitheatre and Orange county Performing Arts Center, she plays Jazz with Michael Mcdaniel Quartet.
Ms. Lucy began her teaching career at the age of 15 at her fatherâs violin school in Yunnan, China. The school currently has more than two hundred violin students and five violin teachers. Each year, Ms. Lucy travels back to China and give master classes and exchange valuable teaching experience with the students and teachers there. Summer 2006, Ms. Lucy and her students was invited by the International Youth and Childrenâs Art Festival, they stayed in China for ten days. Their performance got well accepted by the audience and was broadcasted on the local TV and newspapers. It was an unforgettable experience for all the students and their parents.

My teaching method is from The Juilliard School of Music, lessons are specifically designed to fit individual students age, background, strength and personality. In my classes, not only students are taught how to play the violin, they are also taught ear training, sight-reading, music theory, and performance skills; Most important, students are also taught self-confidence, discipline, appreciation of the arts, and the pride that comes from a job well done.
Every year, my students have the opportunity to perform in different concert settings, participate in our annual summer concerts, take national music exams, and audition with many orchestras and music schools.

No student and no musician can truly understand music without understanding music theory. Playing the piano without knowing the notes is like trying to read a book without knowing the letters. I teach music theory simultaneously in all of my music related classes. This class is a great choice for students who already have basic knowledge of music theory and want to improve their skills and become advanced in the subject and/or are struggling with the basics and want to improve.
At the age of fifteen, Ms. Regina graduated with honors from the Z. Paliashvili Special Music Gymnasium for Gifted Children in Tbilisi, Georgia. As a student of a famous Georgian pianist, Tengiz Amirejibi, she represented her country in numerous international competitions. (Tengiz Amirejibi was a student of Heinrich Neuhaus, a famous Russian teacher and pianist.)
As a child, Ms. Regina gave many solo recitals and concerts with the Georgian Symphonic Orchestra. Ms. Regina earned her Doctorate of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) with emphasis on Advanced Piano Performance from the Tbilisi State Conservatory. After graduating, she worked with talented young musicians in her alma mater for many years. Later in her academic and professional career, Ms. Regina taught undergraduate courses at the Tbilisi State Conservatory as well as the Moscow Music G
