I have been seeing Jeff for about 3 years. I was an old folkie - with no time to practice - for about 50 years, but finally my wife bought me some lessons when I retired. Hit it off with Jeff immediately. He really knows the music I want - which in my case is classic rock - but he can do pretty much anything you need. Still give him 5 stars!

I immediately felt at ease with Jeff and it did not take him long to figure me out and point me in the right direction. Looking forward to many more lessons with him. I wish I lived here so it could be on a more regular basis. But happy with what I CAN get. Thanks Jeff!

My Aunty is turning 80 this weekend and I decided to learn how to play Happy Birthday on the ukulele as a surprise for her. Jeff not only helped me accomplish my goal but also got me started on other songs as well. His patience and enthusiastic personality made the lessons not ony productive but personable as well!!! 2 thumbs up to an awesome instructor!!!!!

The bassist of a band is, in my opinion, the unsung hero of most ensembles. That’s why I try to instill in every bass student a sense of who they are in the ensemble and the importance of their role.
I would say that I teach bass guitar from the perspective of an upright bassist, that is I focus on getting the student to learn the correct pitch names (rather than fret numbers) of the positions they play in. I think that is one of the secrets to becoming a versatile bassist in any genre of music.

About David

My name is David and I'm a professional musician who just moved to North Austin. I came from Cincinnati, where I went to the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, taught dozens of students at all levels and played regular gigs every weekend. I searched for an excellent upright bass teacher for a good while. Then I found David Lloyd. David is patient, humorous, friendly, knowledgeable and very professional. He carefully taught me all the necessary groundwork to enable me to continue on my own for a while. In a few months I will, without question, continue my studies with David. I would, without hesitation, recommend David to anyone interested in seriously studying the Upright Bass.

"Very friendly, Got to know my son and what his interests were for playing Bass as well as what he already had learned. Asked the direction of his music and what he liked. Gave him some basic things to start the juices of music flowing. 2nd lesson was amazing because Kyle started applying what he taught my son as well as jamming with drum beats and guitar to give my son a real feel to playing and learning to apply what he was taught."
