I've been teaching music for 15 yrs on guitar, piano, bass, cello and bass. My students have ranged from from 5yrs to 75yrs of age. I have seen many student go on to join orchestras, bands, broadway shows or simply continued their education to a university or college. Being able to read music profeciently has given me the opportunity to teach off many method books but like to use Alfred Method, Mel Bay and Frederick Noad Method books. I teach many styles ranging from classical, jazz & blues, rock, contemporary and pop. I do stress and recommend all my students to learn how to read music and usually by our second or third lesson they will playing simple songs. I am here to help you make music!

I have been teaching guitar, including Classical Guitar, for 23 years. I emphasize the finer points of finger style guitar to achieve the best technique and sound. Also standard music notation for reading music is very important. Classical guitar is a different world than the standard guitar approach, but it is quite fulfilling and enjoyable, although the technique will apply to any finger style song you would like to play!

Hear From TakeLessons Students
Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

There's an advantage learning from someone who is actually paid to perform music. Get the perspective and tricks of the trade to sound good quickly. He plays the range from rock to standard classical fare like Tarrega and Bach.
He teaches using tab and regular notation which really gets you up to speed quickly on any piece. My previous guitar teachers didn't use tab so learning anything is a slog. I've already learned Lagrima, Bach's Air, Bach's Bourree, Romanza, Recuerdos de la Alhambra and Tears in Heaven in a relatively short time.
Jesse observes your fingerings very well and makes sure you use the most efficient methods.
Flexibility of scheduling was extremely important to me since I cannot be on a regular weekly schedule. Take Lessons and Jesse's flexible schedule makes that very easy."
Can't imagine going to anyone else!"

I’ve had two other teachers before I found him and there is simply no comparison to how much better he is. He is a real reacher! The other two were posers."

Popular Classical Guitar Articles from our Blog
A few weeks ago the Washington Post published an article about musician Hannah Hanh and her struggles with improvisation. As a classical violinist, she hadn't had much training for spontaneity, naturally. The article points out improvisation as a technique that has fallen by the wayside for many performers these days. And it asks an interesting question: Can (and should) classical musicians learn to improvise? We've talked a lot about improvising on the guitar and drums, but where do classi …
