About Milton
Hey there, everyone!

My name is Milton Carl Jackson II and I teach vocal, guitar, piano, and musical theatre lessons in the Inland Empire area.

I help those young, middle-aged, and not-as-young tap into their own soul through music so that they may help others find theirs as well. I believe that in order to entertain others with your voice or your instrument, one must first be able to entertain oneself - all the while having fun doing it! As a recent graduate of the University of California, Davis with a double major in Music History & Ethnomusicology and African-American & African Studies; a former co-host of the popular hip-hop radio show ATF Radio: All Things Fresh on KDVS 90.3 FM; a former Music Director of The Afterglow of UC Davis; and a recently graduate of the University of Redlands with a Master's in Music Education, I hav
e come in contact and learned from a vast amount of different musicians and professionals. A classically-trained bass-baritone with roots in R&B, Soul, Rock, Pop, and Jazz, I have aspirations to help each and every student realize their full musical potential.

If you're looking for a teacher who will motivate and inspire you not only to learn your instrument of choice, but also how to perform it (whether on the big stage or in your living room for the family) and record it as well, I'm the perfect teacher for you. Learning to sing, play, and act beautifully doesn't have to be difficult -- we'll work on finding your voice or your style, all while having fun along the way!

I teach in-studio, in-home, and online lessons, so we can be flexible with the lesson type and schedule!

This is a perfect chance for you or your child who can't stop singing around the house or has dreams of shredding on the guitar or twinkling on the ivories to learn the fundamentals of music, start something new that keeps them or you focused, and have fun while doing it!

Feel free to contact me at show contact info for any questions and check out my student reviews and qualifications.

I look forward to meeting you and accompanying you or your child on your musical journey!!

About Cosima
My specialty is voice but I also teach acoustic guitar, ukulele and songwriting for the student who desires to develop their own style and create their own songs. Not only is it fun but the music education that comes with it is highly valuable for future musicians. (guitar and ukulele rentals available at an additional cost to the student)

For students who are just beginning their vocal journey or are busy performers who want to improve healthy technique and sing with more confidence; or perhaps a worship leader or backup singer is struggling with vocal strain, my goal is to help them find vocal freedom and maintain an amazing, healthy voice that will confidently meet their expectations, year after year, in every situation, every time.

As an active performing vocalist, musician, songwriter, and Christian worship artist and band lea
der, I understand the demands and challenges of a busy performance calendar, singing sets for back-to-back audiences day after day and week after week, and the need for a vocalist to find the vocal freedom that will produce confidence in their voice no matter what the venue.

The first steps to mastering vocal freedom are the building blocks for vocal success. Whether the student is a child or an adult, with little or no training, it is my goal to make singing an enjoyable and freeing experience.

Singing with complete vocal freedom and confidence can seem very elusive. Surprisingly, it's not as elusive as one might think! Vocal freedom is within reach and most students experience a measure of it within the few first lessons, some even gaining a full octave in their range in their first lessons. Using a systematic method incorporating the study of good vocal technique and working on songs the student loves to sing makes learning more fun and gives the student a greater appreciation of music as a whole while encouraging a passion for music that lasts a lifetime. I encourage and teach sight reading, and theory basics especially for those students who are considering music as a profession.

*** Lesson Details ***
Each student learns with material that will be divided into step-by-step doable lessons so they can be sure to learn the best techniques and material along the way. Sheet music and lesson books are provided at a minimal additional cost.

*** Studio Equipment ***
My home-studio is bright and open and set up with an upright piano, full length mirror, music stand, iPad with appropriate applications, guitar, mandolin, ukulele, and computer for recording and playback. Parents are welcome to sit in on lessons or wait for their children in the adjacent room. I also may provide a follow-up email which includes any recordings and lesson notes from the current lesson.

As the student progresses I also provide a PA system to teach mic technique and build performance confidence.

I ask that students come prepared with the following items to their lessons.
~ Bottled water
~ A ring binder with paper for notes and a zippered pouch to keep tools and handouts.
~ A flash drive for recording transfers or they can use their phone or other recording device to record their lessons.
~

*** Specialties ***
I honestly love my students and love teaching! It's such a privilege to be a part of their musical journey. I specialize in church worship vocals, choir, a capella, show tunes and musical theater. I teach free, healthy vocal technique which enables each student to explore and focus on different styles of singing. I also love teaching young voices especially teens who want to have a good time learning to sing.

NOTE ~ My teaching style is more structured therefore some young children may not be ready to take lessons with me.

I've studied with Luke for a little over a year and my playing and understanding of jazz concepts has improved tremendously. I'm primarily a rock and blues player but Luke has been able to stretch my playing out side of my rock/blues box and introduce some very cool techniques and ideas to add real interest and flavor to my playing. It's been a pure pleasure!

Luke is the best guitar instructor I've ever had. He caters to my learning style very well, which is to learn just the stuff that "works" in a real life setting. His insight has made my sound 10x better and has given me a great framework for improvement (Even my band mates have noticed a difference with my playing). He also has a keen sense of where my own guitar playing issues stem from and knows what needs to be done to address them. For example, he could tell that I was gripping the strings too hard with my fingers and it would make the sound harsh.

I highly recommend Luke if you are looking to improve your sound

My musical journey has taken me to some interesting places, challenged and motivated me to keep growing as a musician and teacher.....It hasn't always been easy and the challenges I faced as a professional musician and educator provided the foundation for my Book "Techniques In Applied Theory". With students' goals as the focus, all elements of music are taught in relation to their likes and dislikes. There's a lesson behind every Song. I like to think of myself as a "Tour Guide", pointing out the highlights as we go. I have three jobs: imparting new information and the lesser mentioned "Trainer" and "Mentor". Not every student is the same nor do they have the same needs. In that respect it's a Custom Lesson Program designed to get them where they want to go.

This was the 1st violin lesson for my 5 year old daughter. And it went far better than expected. Mrs. Rui is a wonderful teacher. Patient, warm, and very talented with teaching young children. I was impressed to see how much my daughter learned in only 45 minutes. When it was over my daughter said, "That was so much fun!". My daughter is looking forward to her next lesson.

About Dakota
Hello my name is Dakota Daugherty and I am currently a full time student at the California State University of San Bernardino for saxophone performance. I have about 13 years of playing experience and will be pursuing music through graduate school. I have musically grown so much in the last few years and I realize that because music is so important to me, I want to help share it and keep it alive.

I want to help beginning and intermediate saxophone players who are interested in music learn it in a way that does not intimidate them. We grow best when we love what we do, so I want my students to enjoy each lesson so they can't wait to open their case again. At the same time our goal is to understand how to practice smart and be self-dependent learners.

I will help with whatever aspect of playing may need it, whether it is technique (bre
athing, articulation, fingers, embouchure), reading, theory, or even listening. I will also help with any specific music you might be working on, such as a piece for a performance or audition. I want to stress that our focus will depend on the goals and needs of each individual student. Further details can be discussed before or at the first lesson. I'm eager to teach so please don't hesitate to contact me. I am not selective to age either. If you are in the area and are in need of some instruction I am here for you!

5 Games for Teaching Kids Piano
Piano is considered an umbrella instrument, meaning, teaching kids to play piano helps them understand music more thoroughly, no matter what instrument they want to play later on. Even most singers first learn the basics of music theory and notation on the piano. Piano lessons at an early age lay out the basics of music-making in black and white (quite literally!). The great news is that you don't need to know anything about playing piano to inspire your children to want to learn. Below are a ha
Piano Tips and Techniques: Playing Glissandos
There are many musical terms that you will hear when learning to play any instrument, and the piano is no exception. You probably started off with terms related to tempo, such as largo and allegro, and progressed accordingly. You will learn new terms at every level, so maybe you have already heard the word glissando. Even if you haven’t heard of the term, you probably have heard a glissando in music. For example, Jerry Lee Lewis’s song "Great Balls of Fire" uses glissandos. Derived from t
The 10 Best Guitar Soloists of All Time
As with any top 10 list, ranking the best guitar soloists is not an easy feat. Guitar solos are incredibly subjective, and what pleases one fan might make someone else plug their ears. My list is based on years of listening to and loving classic rock, indie music, and pop. If there's anyone I left out or anything you would change, I hope you'll let me know in the comments. 10. Left-handed guitarists of the world unite! When it comes to guitar setup and style, you're kind of in your own world... 1. Some people try to change you... ...but you do your own, awesome, left-handed thing! There is a school of thought that lefties should conform to right-handed ways and learn to play a regular righty guitar. This works for some lefties, like Paul Simon and David Byrne. For other left-handed players, a right-handed guitar can be discouraging and difficult, and switchi
