About Lars
I began to teach guitar at 16 years of age. I have taught students from 7 to 60 years old in a wide variety of styles. From age 12 to 21 I took private guitar lessons regularly. Now I have a lesson every once in a while. I studied jazz guitar primarily with Randy Vincent, one of the San Francisco Bay Area's greatest guitar players. Aside from teaching lessons as a job, I have played guitar in many concerts and continue to do so. Before moving to San Francisco, I gained a lot of experience and valuable education with guitar. I played in the jazz bands in Junior High and High School. I went to four years of a week long summer jazz camp called jazz camp west where I took classes, played open mics and had fun with many musicians, making some good friends. I hold BA degrees in Music (Jazz Guitar) and Spanish, as well as an MA in Musi
c, from San Francisco State University. By now, I am confident in working with whatever musical material students offer! Thank you.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a laid back teacher, but I definitely expect students to practice what I suggest they practice. I advise that students use method books or sheet music of some sort, and I will certainly make notes for them and create materials they can learn from. I always teach based on the goals of the student and what type of music they enjoy, but I also like to guide the student in a direction I think would benefit them. I usually introduce music to play right away, conforming of course to the skill level and interest of the student. I now play seven-string guitar, which is just a six-string guitar (same tuning and technique) with an extra low string. It will be practical to aide students by accompanying with a bass range instrument.

*** Specialties ***
Guitar
I consider myself a Jazz musician, but I am happy to consider a very wide range of styles. I am focusing now on music of the Spanish Golden Age, 1500-1700.

I am continuing to study cello with Jamie and I am much further along than I anticipated. I also study piano, so I am not a traditional beginner cello student. Jaime is able to fine tune my lessons to take this into account and build on it. He is very knowledgeable about proper technique as well as music theory. I would recommend him without reservation for all abilities and ages.

Jamie worked with me when I was trying to pick up cello after not playing since high school. He is extremely knowledgeable and encouraging. He's very good at identifying problems with technique and suggesting approaches to fix them, and fun to work with.

After graduating high school at the top of my class, I got full funding for an economics degree at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where I was born. I was very busy in college--my extracurriculars included 2 semesters abroad (Spain, Singapore), writing an honors thesis, being a consultant to the academic advising office, and being president of an honor society; besides this I worked my butt off in classes and graduated with a 3.7.

Besides academics, I am super interested in fitness, general wellness and psychology.

I would love to talk it out with you wherever our learning interests intersect!

My name is Ali You, I am a second-year graduate student, and my major is violin performance. In May 2017, I will graduate from Boston University and get my master of music degree.

I’ve begun to study in BU with Professor Bayla Keyes since 2015, in these two years, I’ve learned a lot from her, not only my violin skill, but also a lot of teaching methods.

I got my bachelor degree in Renmin University of China, which is one of the best university in China. I had 24 students before I came to States, several of them won the first prize in different violin competition.

I’m very patient, I have a beautiful smile, of course, and the most important thing is I can teach well. Most of my student can learn very fast and be very happy at the same time. I hope my student to love music instead of just playing the music

About Ivette
I'm a philologist, meaning, I studied the Spanish language deeply. I'm from Cuba and my native language, of course, is Spanish. My minor was in Hispanic Literature.

“Being bilingual, it turns out, makes you smarter,” Yudhijit Bhattacharjee wrote once in a piece for the New York Times Sunday Review. “It can have a profound effect on your brain, improving cognitive skills not related to language and even shielding against dementia in old age.” In an increasingly global world, being bilingual makes you a more competitive force in society for jobs, travel, speaking to clients abroad.
Also, Spanish is considered world's second-most spoken native language, after Mandarin Chinese.

I taught Spanish as a second language since I graduated in 2012. In 2015 I left Cuba and came to the US. In here I've been teaching children from 3 to 5 years
old in a bilingual program. I can teach all different ages and experience levels. I believe that everyone can learn a second or a third language, the only thing that you need is a motivation, any kind of motivation is essential to learn something new.

I look forward to meeting you and help you find that motivation.

I am first generation "American", my father and mother having emigrated to the US just before I was born. I am bi-cultural and a native speaker. French was my first language and what we spoke at home.
My education was partly in a boarding school in France and partly in Northern California, but my degrees are two BA's from the University of California at Berkeley: 1 in French and 1 in Comparative Literature. I obtained a Single Subject Credential to teach French 11 years ago. For the last 9 years I have been teaching French at a College Preparatory School, all levels (1 through 4 AP). Recommendations follow. Before that I taught at an elementary Montessori School. My writing and grammar are excellent and I am very qualified to tutor at the college level.

I am passionate about people and about my subject. I really love teaching. Recently,
I have been tutoring and am looking to expand that venue of instruction. So, if you just want to brush up, get ready for a trip/year abroad/business meetings, are struggling in class, need help writing papers or with conversational skills want to become fluent, get a high score on an exam, or any other reason to learn French that you can think of I can certainly help you! Be sure to check out my CV and letters of recommendation and be in touch with any questions...Mima
