The first lesson was great. She explained some of the fiddle's background, how to hold it, and how to play it all in an interactive way. The time flew by. My daughter is very enthusiastic about the lessons & even more excited about the fiddle than before the lesson. Kathleen is awesome.

Teaching is one of my greatest joys! All ages are welcome to study with me. It is my calling to work with all students' experiences and goals, such as competing in conservatory auditions, playing your favorite songs, or having an interest in the instrument with a completely clean slate.

This skill is made through practice: concentrated sessions of mindful repetition, silent awareness, and craft. Anyone can learn an instrument with the right mindset and the right instruction.

My lessons are designed to develop the musical potential that every student has by guiding students to produce their most beautiful sound and feel a balanced and natural comfort with their instrument. Students develop a thorough understanding of the relationship between anatomy and sound for optimum technique, and how to practice efficiently and independently. In other words, my students ...

I've been teaching the violin for almost 10 years. I love teaching and share my knowledge with students not only in how to fix their problem but also many useful suggestions for their own practice. I have my own ways to inspire them and let them enjoy playing this instrument. All levels of students are welcome, I am super glad and excited to teach this wonderful instrument.

About Nan
I started to learn the violin since I was 3 years old. My mom chose this beautiful instrument for me, she thought it's convenient to carry. I came to America after I finished my music education degree in China, then I studied two years in the US for my Master's degree in violin performance. After I got my Master's degree, I found out there are still a lot more space I want to improve, so I came to California to continue my violin study and I got my Artist Diploma in violin performance. I played hundreds of concerts, including chamber and symphony concerts. I have given 5 violin solo concerts in the past years. I have been playing with the professional symphony orchestras. For the violin, no matter which area you want to improve, I can give you the most useful and effective suggestions to help you improve fast.

Playing a piece of music is like trying to convey a message, if your mouth does not make the right shape or your timing is off, if your words are correct but the cadence is wrong, the message you are trying to convey can become «lost in translation». My job as a teacher is to help you articulate yourself to the fullest through music. I hope to make the violin a fun vehicle for your thoughts instead of an obstacle, and the music you play, increasingly clear!

About Peder
Peder Barratt-Due’s musical interests started at the age of 5 when he got his first violin lesson at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo, Norway. A few highlights of his performance career includes; solo violinist for H.W Henze’s Pollicino at the National Opera and Ballet of Norway, National and International tours with Oslo Camerata, 1st Prize and Musician of the Year from the Norwegian National Competition for Young Musicians and the Scholarship Assignment Award for his contribution as Concert Master for the Conducting Orchestra at Berklee College of Music.
