Hello! My name is Bianca and I would like to help you enter and enjoy the wonderful world of music!

I was introduced to music at a young age and haven't stopped playing. I love to have fun when I play, but I love sharing my passion and joy even more!

I feel that my experience as a teacher has helped me grow to build relationships with my students. I don't treat lessons like Juilliard studies. I have fun with my students. Music can be a serious study, but it is also one of the most fun and rewarding. My goal is to build a good relationship with my student so that I can work with them, rather than against them, to achieve the same goal. Making music is fun, but developing a passion for it gives it the life that nothing else can.

In my time working as a music tutor, I have helped students falling behind in their performance classes to exceed expectations and come out ahead of their class in the end. As a teacher, my students continue to impress me with their application of knowledge towards their other classes, and continue to perform and compete.

*** Lesson Details ***
The first lesson is about getting to know each other. From here, I can decide how and what should be taught.

My lessons are laid back and include small breaks, especially for beginners. I understand that learning certain techniques can be frustrating. I also understand that a student can become tired. These short two minute breaks are used to further discuss the technique, theory, and history behind the literature. It also helps to strengthen the bond that I like to create with my students.

I use much of the same curriculum that band instructors use in the Sacramento area, making transferring from private lesson to band and other ensembles easier. I focus on both solo and ensemble literature, helping the student succeed as both a solo performer and an ensemble performer. With this, I also give a small amount of theory and history so that the student can develop a relationship with their instrument and the music.

I do give practice homework for each lesson to make sure the student keeps up with what we have learned and help them achieve their goals. I may also give research homework, or give the student a worksheet to complete by the next lesson in order to better understand the music and the time period they are working with.

Lessons start with a warm up and review to cover concepts before moving on to new ones. I only teach as fast as the student would like to go. I only move on to the next exercise when the student feels comfortable and ready.

This was my first lesson with Bianca. I felt I've learned the "easy" way to learn the piano keys. I was taught to memorize the piano keys in the past and that to me was hard. She has a way to make learning much easier and fun!

I am interested in teaching you what you need and want to learn so that you achieve your dreams. Please note that I only take serious students who will practice at least 30 minutes every day or 35 a day 6 days a week at home. I would like you to keep a log of how much you practice. This will enable you to make progress through the curriculum as you will be a beginner for the first 3.3 years, an intermediate for the next 3.3 years, and then an advanced student for 3.3 years. I will give you assignments to do over the week, and the next week we will go over them, learn something new and get new assignments. It takes 10,000 hours of practice to become an expert!

Dr. Maureen Spranza, is a great music teacher, my son is taking piano classes with her and I'm very grateful with her, because she always take the extra time to make sure my kid is learning, my kid loves Mrs. Maureen because she is a great teacher but also she is a great human being, she really cares about her students. And she not only plays the piano, she plays all the instruments, I hope to see my son become a great musician thanks to the dedication that Maureen puts in his classes, my kid loves his piano classes, every time after clases he came home very exited to practice what he learned and al of this if because Dr. Maureen encourage him to be better in Avery class

Dr. Spranza is one of the best piano teachers in the Bay Area. My two daughters take weekly lessons with her. She encourages them and empowers them to do their best. She teaches them both theory and practicals. They have participated in an informal recital and are now registered to take part in the MTAC Certificate of Merit program.

As parents, we see a big improvement in our daughters' piano playing skills. They even practice on their own, without us telling them to. All thanks to Dr. Spranza.

Get ready for band in a relaxed friendly but focused environment. The foundation of music lessons is to develop good ears and good time feel (groove). These are skills that all the best musicians have. That, along with some study of clarinet basics are what I am hoping to get started in the first 2-3 lessons. After that we'll also devote time to the kind of music that inspired you to look me up. My hope is that you will become a well rounded musician and clarinet player, and that I can show you some music I think is cool.

I enjoy helping young musicians prepare for auditions, and competing for placement in school ensembles and for scholarships. I have also had success helping adults get back into things and have success in community bands.

Jordan was born and raised in the El Centro, California where he began playing the alto sax in the elementary band program. At the age of 12, he began his study of guitar and drums, performing in several rock and ska bands around his home town and San Diego. At age 14, is where he found his love for brass instruments when he took up the trombone. While in high school he became a featured soloist with the Imperial Valley College Jazz Orchestra, under the direction of the legendary trumpeter Jimmy Cannon. It was this that lead Jordan to accept the Constance Weldon Music Scholarship to attend the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL.

While performing in South Florida Jordan appeared with major acts including 10,000 Maniacs, and appeared on the Spanish television show "Calle Ocho." He also gained invaluable experience teaching in Miami public schools. His first teaching assignment was at Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School where he directed 3 beginning bands, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, and their highly decorated Jazz Band. Later Jordan moved into the elementary setting, teaching vocal and instrumental music for grades K-5 at Cypress Elementary.

In 2007, Jordan returned to California to pursue a music career in San Diego. He can be seen performing all over San Diego, Orange, and LA Counties in styles ranging from rock, jazz, funk, blues, hip-hop, Latin, and more. He performs primarily on trombone, piano, and guitar, but is known to pick up percussion, harmonica, and other wind instruments as well. Jordan, along with the rest of the aggressively funky cover band SuperMagnetic, were the grand prize winner of the 2010 Viejas Ultimate Music Challenge 4. In 2011, Tori Roze & The Hot Mess were nominated for a San Diego Music Award in the category of "Best Blues Artist" after the release of their first album "From The Hip." They released their second album "Turbulence" last December, and are heard regularly on local San Diego radio. This album has also been nominated for Best Pop album for the 2013 San Diego Music Awards. In 2013, Jordan completed his Master of Music degree in Jazz Studies from San Diego State University.

On stage, Jordan is a talented and versatile performer. He is known for his trombone sound and improvisational ability, as well as his positive relationship with his fellow musicians. In lessons, Jordan is energetic and creative.

I enjoy teaching kids and adults of all ages. When you arrive for our first lesson, we'll start by getting to know your musical tastes and aspirations. Then we make a plan. Then we play!

Everybody's path is different, but we must start with a strong foundation in the fundamentals. After we start to establish some technique on your instrument we will explore music that suits you from a practical stand point in your development, and very importantly, stylistically. Together we will plan a curriculum that keeps you motivated toward your goals and that fits your life style.

I have a Bachelor of Music degree from San Jose State University in music education and have taught private lessons for the last couple of years. I have also recently completed the teaching credential program in Music and teach Kindergarten through 8th grade Music for the Pioneer Union School District. Mikaela helped ramp my daughter from having no clarinet experience to being a fairly proficient player ready for the school band, in less than a school year. Mikaela is friendly, points out little things that help make big improvements in my daughter's playing, and keeps checking on the basics as well (embouchure, finger positioning, etc). Mikaela has been very flexible and has a good teaching manner and attitude which has made my daughter's clarinet learning experience a very positive one. We look forward to continuing to work with Mikaela!

A native of the Pacific Northwest, saxophonist Kareem K is a performer, composer, and educator, who is in high demand for his talents both on and off the stage.

Growing up in the northwest with its vibrant music scene allowed Kareem the opportunity to study with, listen to and perform with world class jazz artists residing in the area. Artists such as Tracy Knoop, Jay Thomas, Don Lanphere, Bill Ramsay, Hadley Caliman, Julian Priester and many others had a large impact on Kareem early in his musical education. This direction and guidance continues to inspire and lead Kareem as he continues his lifelong passion undertaking a career as a professional musician.

Today, as a performing artist he spends most of his time leading his group for which he composes and arranges most of the music. The band is constantly on the move as a sought af
ter performing group and spends most of its time performing in and around the Pacific Northwest. When not leading his own group Kareem can be seen and heard performing as a sideman with many other top notch musical acts and projects, most notably The Paperboys from Vancouver BC.

As an educator Kareem divides his time teaching jazz improvisation as an artist in residence at The Tacoma School of the Arts, directing the award winning student jazz ensemble at Pierce College, conducting masterclasses and workshops at schools around the Puget Sound area, and maintaining a full load of private students. Along with his teaching duties Kareem is the director or The Tacoma Jazz Association, serves on the Tacoma Arts Commission, and is a D'Addario Woodwinds performing artist.

Kareem holds a Bachelors Degree of Music from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle Washington which he attended after receiving a full scholarship.

Throughout his years of teaching Kareem has worked with students of all ages and abilities, from beginners just getting started, to advanced players who simply want new ideas and direction.

Lessons are relaxed and are focused on what you would like to learn.

I usually begin with assessing where students are in their abilities and then come up with a lesson plan based on what they already know and what they would like to accomplish.
They can be geared towards a 5 year old with no musical training whatsoever, or to an advanced musician who wants to further develop their skills.

Topics that I cover in lessons throughout a typical day of teaching include: Instrument technique, sight reading skills ( note and rhythm recognition ), memorization skills, music theory, ear training, improvising, and composing.

After 3 to 6 months of lessons and regular practice a beginning student should have a good command of their instrument and a strong foundation of sight reading. At this point we normally will also have started some music theory as well. For students wanting to focus on jazz we will have already begun improvising as well.

Kareem has been teaching me since I was in the fourth grade. I am currently in 8th grade, and man what can I say, he's as good as it gets! After two years I was in my middle school jazz band, which is not easy for a person who has only been playing for two years. You, yourself will be able to see extreme progress within just a few lessons! You must know Kareem teaches at Pierce College, a class at the Tacoma School of the Arts (which I hopefully will be attending and taking his class), teaches numerous private students every week, and lastly he performs with a stellar jazz band of his own! He is extremely dedicated to the musical field. If I were anybody reading this review and wanted to start playing any of the variety of instruments he plays, I would call Kareem K.!

Kareem is a dedicated and diligent musician and teacher. He is able to share his love of music with students of all ages. Not only is he extremely capable of teaching students the technical aspects of music, but his lessons incorporate a wider perspective as well, such as, listening to different genres of music and asking his students to discuss what they hear. In addition to both instrumental and choral ensembles at Penn State, Thomas was a student leader in the Penn State Blue Band and a member of the brass section of the Cadets of Bergen County Drum and Bugle Corps in 1993 and 1994. He served as an Associate Director of the Warren Junior Military Band of Youngstown, Ohio from 1995 to 2005. He also served as a visual staff member for the renowned North Penn Marching Knights of Lansdale, PA for one season in 2004.

He is a current adjudicator with Drum Corps International and Cavalcade of Bands. He is a member of MENC, PMEA, NJMEA, ASCAP, CASA, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and the National Band Association. He appeared in the Marquis Who's Who Among American Educators in 2004 and 2005, an honor rarely bestowed upon teachers, as students who appear in the Who's Who Among American High School Students must nominate them. He currently is a music teacher at the Center for Performing and Fine Arts of the PA Leadership Charter School in West Chester, PA and resides in Downingtown, PA with his wife and two sons.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are tailored to the needs and interests of each student. If a student is involved in school music ensembles, we will work with their lesson books from school in addition to material outside of the books, including SmartMusic, Noteflight, and teacher-created materials. We will focus on building proper tone production and individual technique - something that often is difficult to learn in a large ensemble setting.

I am capable of starting a beginner student on any band instrument including percussion, any classical string instrument (violin, viola, cello, string bass), and piano. I can begin a student on drum set and work with them through their first method book, but I would then recommend they find a specialized drum set teacher after a period of six to twelve months.

For advanced students, I work from selected conservatory etude books on developing advanced skills and can work with students on audition pieces for honors bands/orchestras or college auditions.

My lessons are a half-hour once a week, with the option of working for 45 minutes or 60 minutes.

Music is great for self expression a great Escape or an easy pass-time. It's nothing that should be stressful, but the opposite and that is what my lessons aim to do. My son takes piano from Amber and I cannot say enough on how talented she is. She has so much patience and cares about her students. He responds well to her and is learning so quickly! She challenges him to continue to grow but does it in a way that is fun for a child his age. We think she is great!

Candice was an awesome voice instructor! She helped me understand the craft better and was great at helping me choose songs for recitals, too. She challenged me but also knew what I could and could not handle. She also listened well and followed the style I liked. I definitely became a better singer because of her, and still use of some of her warm ups today when I get opportunities to sing. I miss having her around in Pittsburgh!

Having Julie for a flute teacher greatly improved my daughter's proficiency and love for music. Julie was very professional and thorough in her lessons. Most importantly, my daughter was inspired to practice and improve.
