When I first begin teaching a student, I tell them that everyone has the ability to sing well no matter his or her experience. I also tell them that there are four things that a good singer must have: breathe control (air is your fuel, and must be used efficiently and effectively to give you the best sound), posture (in order to have access to your air and prevent vocal damage you must practice good posture habits), diction (how you pronounce words when singing can impede or improve vocal tone, as well as help or hinder the audience in understanding the lyrics) and finally and most importantly, passion. Passion is how emotionally connected you are to music and is what really allows the singer to connect with his or her audience.

Singing Lessons in Canoga Park
By Toni K. - Canoga Park Singing Instructor
Are you interested in taking singing lessons in Canoga Park? Looking to take your singing abilities to the next level? In addition to your private singing lessons in Canoga Park, performance is key to developing your skill as a singer. So, how does someone hone their craft while taking singing lessons in Canoga Park? Rack up those hours of experience until singing in public is just, well, something you do.
Typically, during my first or second singing lesson with new students, I inquire into how they are practically applying their skills. Do you sing in your school choir? Your church choir? Do you have a band? Do you donate your skills for community fundraising events? Nothing replaces going out and practicing what you’ve learne
d in your singing lessons in Canoga Park.
In Los Angeles, there are many places to perform and see live shows. The Viper Room, the Room 5 Lounge, Hotel Café, the list goes on. But if you have to drive an hour, park, and wait for a spot on the roster, you might not take advantage of these opportunities very often. However, lucky for you, there are many local venues in and near Canoga Park where you can just pop in for an open mic night every week! I promise you, singing students who take advantage of these performance opportunities get better faster.
So, if you want to become a better singer and performer, check out nearby venues in your own neighborhood for their open mic nights. While some showcase rooms serve alcohol and require proof of age, there are places open to all levels of artistry, style and age. Here are some venues worth investigating:
Open mic nights near Canoga Park include: Tuesdays: The Rack in Westfield’s Promenade Woodland Hills (http://therack.us/) Wednesdays: The Guitar Merchant on Topanga Canyon Blvd. (http://www.guitarmerchant.com/) Thursdays: Rock and Roll Pizza in Moorpark (http://www.rockandrollpizza.com/rockandrollpizza.com/Home.html)
Beyond improving as a singer, embrace the art of performing. Connect with the audience, line up songs to your best advantage, and handle yourself when things go wrong and/or right! (Always have an encore ready, for instance!) Great performers don’t sing to impress, they sing because they love to sing, because they have a story to tell or because, well, what else would they do?
Do you really want to get to the next level? Begin to tame those nerves? Step into the magic of connecting your skills to your artistic style while creating your on-stage persona? Find a local spot and sign up to sing. Nothin’ to it but to do it! That’s what singing lessons in Canoga Park are for!

Out of the 3 million karaoke performances tabulated through the website, one in four singers chose "Someone Like You". "Rolling In The Deep" also placed high on the list. Singing your he …

Just kidding. There is no secret recipe. Really, the best and most basic way to keep your voice in shape is to hydrate. Water is key to a great singing voice. So you should definitely keep some water around while you’re singing right? That’ll keep you perfectly hydrated! Not quite. Its good to have water around when you sing, but it won’t actually reach your vocal folds. Whatever you drank about two hours ago is what is really doing all the work. So try to drink at least …
