I am part of a music studio which hold student recitals every other month. Students have the opportunity to perform and develop their public persona. The recital features students playing different instruments, such as piano, violin, and flute. We will help you overcome your stage fright!

About Jenny
Music
Jenny comes from a very musical family and started piano when she was five years old. She grew up constantly listening to her father practicing his guitar and brother practicing violin. Since then, her accomplishments include an Honorable Mention at the Korea Times Youth Music Competition. She has performed in two solo recitals and has performed biannually with the Beverly Hills Chamber Orchestra. Jenny has participated in the Frederic Chopin Felix Mendelssohn Minifest 2005 and has regularly performed at the Colburn School of Performing Arts from 2003 - 2008. Jenny was also a part of the Goldcoast Chamber Music Festival and was awarded the second prize at the Chamber Music Walker Competition. She has excellent communication skills and has worked as an assistant to the Program Coordinator at Montecito Summer Music Festival while al
so participating as a performer. In addition to her musical abilities, Jenny has received many academic honors as well. She is a member of the Agoura High Chapter of the California Scholarship and is also on the Dean’s List at the University of Southern California. She graduated from USC with a BA in Music and emphasis on Piano.

Jenny started teaching neighborhood kids while she was in high school and has continued to inspire her students throughout her academic studies. She strives to make every lesson different, tailored to individual student’s needs, whether he or she is a beginning toddler or in need of advanced technique.

Dance
Jenny has always had a passion for the performing arts. During her years at USC, she discovered Latin dancing. She has performed, choreographed, and taught for USC's Latin dance team Break On 2 and is still involved. She has participated and performed at numerous salsa and bachata festivals/congresses.

Music
As a teacher, I try to make music learning as fun and well-rounded as possible. Every student is unique, and I try my best to accommodate every individual's needs. I encourage students to always ask questions, no matter how silly it might sound, and to trust me to help you achieve your goals. I encourage students to tell me their favorite songs and genre of music and use the knowledge to help keep them motivated, to remind them that learning is fun.

For all ages and levels, I prefer to incorporate music theory as part of the learning process. It allows the student to see the how and why, to not only feel music but also understand it. If your goal is primarily playing oriented, I will, of course, adjust my teaching style to fit your needs.

I learn something new from every student, love seeing my students improve and gain confidence in themselves. I ask that students come with an open mind and be prepared to make mistakes because no piece is perfect and neither are lessons. Lessons give you the opportunity to make mistakes without judgement. You can trust me to always have a positive attitude, it is OK to make mistakes, but practice to play better, and enjoy the feedback to see yourself improve! Learning piano does not happen in a few lessons and is a lifelong rewarding process. I hope to see you treat music with respect, so let's make beautiful music together!

Dance
I also provide choreography for wedding dances (couples, father/daughter). My main focus is on the social aspect of Latin dancing, such as salsa, bachata, merengue, and cha cha. Thus, I will only take students who are able to go out dancing to studios, restaurants, and clubs, meaning 18+ individuals or groups. Every week, I will provide new, cool, and stimulating choreography that supplements technique while developing your own unique style. I love to see my students out on the dance floor, implementing moves learned and having fun! Dancing is a healthy, joyful activity. Get ready for a confidence boost and let's get your heart pumping!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Music - Upright piano and teaching/practice materials.
Dance - Music playing device, carpet.

*** Specialties ***
Piano: All Ages and All Levels. Classically trained. Encourage students to incorporate favorite songs/genres of music be it rock, pop, jazz, etc.

I help with performance, and how to practice for a show!

About Mike
I have taught private guitar, piano, bass and drum lessons since the late 70s in Salt Lake City, where I majored in jazz guitar performance, and since 1980 in Los Angeles. I make the lessons fun. Some of my students have received college scholarships and won cash prizes for music contests. All of them had fun while learning and improving on their instruments.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am very enthusiastic and can teach students how to read. If they do not want to read music, they can learn to play by ear. I can also show them where to put their fingers. During piano lessons, I often accompany students on guitar and suggest a scale for improvisation, so they can play the blues. During drum lessons, I often play bass so they can learn to groove.

*** Travel Equipment ***
They should have their own instrument and a music stand.

*** Spec
ialties ***
I specialize in jazz improvisation on piano and guitar.
I also teach recreational guitar and piano for adults, including classical and blues styles.
I coach bass players and drummers in playing stylistically correct grooves for jazz, rock and latin music.

Most excellent first guitar lesson to where we actually played a song together. I'm blown away. What fun! I only hope I can remember the chords when I practice on my own, and I look forward to my next lesson with Mike. I can already tell I'll be signing up for more lessons. Great teacher, and I can say that because I tried to learn some years ago with another instructor, and he made me feel like I'd just never get it and may as well give up. Mike erased all that negativity for me in 30 minutes. Thanks, Mike!

Playing a piece in private is one thing; playing in front of an audience is another. Music Performance is an important aspect of one's musical education, and together we'll learn how to refine a piece, tackle nerves, and give a performance that will be remembered.

About Christopher
www.pianomancan.com

My name is Christopher, or Chris for short. I am a composer, arranger, pianist, vocalist, and private tutor. I have taught private lessons in classical and contemporary piano performance, vocal performance, guitar performance, music theory, and musicianship to local students for the past 10 years. I currently have 36 weekly students all over Ventura County. I attended CSUN'€™s school of music where I received my Bachelor'€™s of Music in Music Composition. My other experience includes teaching at 2 different music studios (Perry Music Studios and Brookyln's Conservatory of Music), teaching Confirmation classes to teenagers at St. Jude'€™s Catholic Church, and teaching English to Japanese high school students through the Rotary Youth Exchange Program.

IMPORTANT NOTE: My availability is very limited right now due to t
he amount of students I have, however please don't hesitate to message me requesting specific times that are currently unavailable -- I can often shuffle things around to accommodate different scheduling needs.

*** Lesson Details ***
My philosophy when it comes to doing anything with music is that it should be fun! Whether you're practicing a piece, playing with a band, writing something new, or even learning music theory, music is primarily about enjoying yourself and the others around you.

The best way to ensure that you enjoy yourself is to learn what you want to learn and play what you want to play. In addition to a standard curriculum, I want you to tell me what kind of music you're interested in and what kind of pieces you want to play! Do you love classic rock? Do you love pop? Blues? Jazz? Folk tunes? Opera? Or maybe you're a fan of the classical masters? Whatever the case may be, my number one goal is to make sure you're having fun while you develop your new talents.

I'm comfortable teaching students as young as 7 years of age, although I can teach even younger if they are especially well-behaved.

I really like working with Chris a lot for several reasons. First he is a very kind & enthusiastic teacher who is always very cheerful and always brings his best to the lessons. As an adult student, I'm not very confident about myself. He has helped to bring that confidence back. He was able to help me tackle the speed problem for a piece of music that I was having trouble with for a long time. And with just a few words of advice, he was able to help me fix the problem right away. Chris is truly a fantastic teacher! I'm glad to be his student.

I took piano lessons for a year when I was around 9 years old and because my instructor, who was my Dad, was a terrible teacher I hated it.

I am now over 70 years young and have been taking piano lessons from Christopher Cohen for two years. He has excellent teaching skills and is just a wonderful teacher and person. He is patient with me (a slower learner) and encourages me to choose special pieces I want to include in my lessons.

Because of Christopher excellent teaching skills I am now enjoying the piano and eagerly looking forward to each session. Even my dog appreciates the piano and she never misses any of our lessons.

Thanks Christopher!

I do my absolute best to create a positive atmosphere for my students. Even when the students feel frustrated or stressed, it is important to inspire them and give them the fuel that they need. Though I am strict when it comes to homework and their about their studies. Every lesson at the beginning I will review what we learned previously and test them.
then begin with proper breathing technique exercises, the cornerstone of all vocals. We move on to vocal exercises to condition the voice. Then we work on the songs that you are eager to sing!

I will use a piano when doing vocal warm ups and conditioning exercises. Students that play other instruments and accompany themselves when performing (such as a guitar) are encouraged to bring that instrument to their lessons. My goal is for them to gain the knowledge that they need to help reach their artistic goals.
With all my lessons every student will be taught a basic run down of Music Theory. My students will always progress in what they do. They will have the discipline that they need and yet have fun and be filled with inspiration. Which is the most important thing, to be Inspired to do better.

About Brian
Brian discovered his talent and passion for teaching while still in college, and has been teaching guitar and piano in Southern California for over 20 years. Gifted at teaching students of all ages and abilities, he combines patience, creativity, imagination and boundless enthusiasm with solid professional training and experience. Brian also has over 10 years experience teaching piano and guitar to blind and autistic students.

A lifelong musician, Brian received his first musical training at the age of 4 and 5 years when his actor/singer Dad and musically talented Grandma taught him to sing and play the mandolin. He began piano lessons at age 5, and formal guitar instruction at the age of 10 years.

By the time he was a 14-year-old high school student, Brian was performing as lead guitarist in rock bands around Southern California
, developing mastery of rock guitar and blues performance and improvisation. Brian went on to complete a Bachelor's Degree in Classical Guitar Performance from California State University, Los Angeles.

Passionate about all kinds of music, Brian's studies include choral music and conducting, Gregorian chant (at the Monastery of St. Pierre de Solesmes, France), and Master Classes with Andrés Segovia and Christopher Parkening. In 1984, he participated as a member of the Honor Choir for the ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, which included recording of original music by Philip Glass for the Olympic Games under the direction of David L. Wolper and Mr. Glass.

As a jazz guitarist, Brian continues to grow musically in association with his colleagues of the Naomi Jazz Group, and other close musical friends who include students of the late, great Ted Greene.

MY APPROACH:
I focus on four areas that I think are essential to being a good music teacher:

• the uniqueness of each student;
• the fact that enjoyment (fun!) maximizes learning;
• the importance of proper technique and an understanding of music theory to build self-confidence;
• the development of musicianship through performance.

EACH STUDENT IS UNIQUE:
My first interest with each new student is to discover how he or she learns, and then to apply appropriate teaching techniques to maximize their potential. I gear my lesson plans to the individual and strive to optimize the learning potential of the student.

ENJOYMENT MAXIMIZES LEARNING:
In a lesson with me you can expect to never be bored, to laugh a lot, learn a lot, be positively engaged emotionally and challenged intellectually. I believe that learning is maximized when the student is enjoying the experience, and is faced with challenges appropriate to their skill level. I aim to make learning music fun, choosing musical selections to learn in the style and genre that relate to the student's interests and aspiration.

TECHNIQUE & UNDERSTANDING OF MUSIC THEORY TO BUILD SELF-CONFIDENCE:
When my students perform in concerts, recitals, juries, auditions, recording sessions or simply for friends and family, they have self-confidence because they know precisely the "how" and "why" of everything required to perform well. My goal with students is to build a solid foundation in instrumental technique and thorough understanding of Music Theory at their appropriate level.

PERFORMANCE:
On a monthly basis, all my students practice performing pieces they are working on during the lesson time, with family/friends as an audience if desired and appropriate, and/or using digital recording to help the student develop a critical ear for their own playing.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Music stands, guitar/s and guitar stands, Dynarelle cushion, footrests, Korg 88 fully--weighted digital keyboard, Zoom H4 digital recorder.

As well, I have guitars and equipment both for teaching and performance of various styles, as below. Students will have the opportunity to learn about, play and become familiar with any of these instruments/equipment according to their interests and skill levels.

GUITARS:

CLASSICAL: Ramirez Model 1A Classical (professional concert level instrument)
Cordoba (teaching/practice instrument)
Hohner Acoustic (electric)

ROCK: Fender Stratocaster (pre-CBS)
Shechter Omen6
Shechter Elite Series C1

FOLK: Martin (steel string)
Dobro

JAZZ: Oscar Schmidt by Washburn (hollow body electric)
Gibson SG (electric)

OTHER EQUIPMENT:

AMPS: Fender Twin reverb
Pevey practice amp
Rock amp

Boss GT8 Effects Pedal

*** Travel Equipment ***
Guitar stands, guitar/s, Zoom H4 digital recorder. Generally I do not transport my Korg 88 keyboard to the student's home for lessons, but I can if necessary. However, I do require that piano students have their own piano/keyboard or at least reliable access to one for practice between lessons.

Guitar students should also have their own guitar. I can advise on appropriate instruments and can help students find a suitable guitar for their learning level and price range.

I have approximately taken ten or twelve lessons. I started from scratch, and Brian's input and guidance has helped me to move along pretty fast in my learning. My ear is becoming more selective. My fingers are more and more flexible. My idea of learning piano was to do so, in order to play for me and maybe one or two more people. I've learned with Brian that even if that is the case, I must still handle myself, as if I am going to be part of a band. This is teaching me the importance of counting and keeping the rhythm for me and for others. It basically helps me to have a structure. Thank you Brian

There is unique voice inside you, waiting to be heard: the voice of your true identity and being. As your voice is redeemed, a spontaneous aliveness returns, awakening your heart as your journey toward your true self. By learning to listen to your voice, learning to understand, honor, accept and express its message, you begin to discover an inner freedom and to carry it into the world.
Your voice engage every part of you: breath, body, heart, mind, soul, pulling the carpet of self-doubts from under your feet. It opens imagination to the pleasure and benefits of expressing yourself in ways you never thought possible.

I've been teaching private lessons since 2011 helping my students open up their talent in full potential, growing voice awareness, self-esteem and emotional response through voice, as well as stage performance mastery.

By enjoying vocal performance field, I learned vocal art as a science and a combination of physical, psychological, and creative ability of the artist. Singing has the power to bring a lot of positive effects to people’s lives thro

What an absolutely AMAZING experience! Juliana is not only a wonderful instructor, she is a true mentor whom my daughter adores. When we first signed up for lessons, it was to build my daughter's self-esteem, as she has several mandatory performances at school. What started out as a summer adventure has morphed into a regular slot for us on Juliana's calendar:)! My daughter thoroughly enjoys learning from Juliana who makes each session fun by mixing up songs, adding props, incorporating dance moves, etc. This is much more than a voice lesson -- this is a confidence-building journey. My daughter is developing life-long skills which will allow her to be successful "on stage" in life whether she continues singing or engages in public speaking. Thanks for caring about my daughter as an individual, Juliana!!

The curriculum I use is based on the wealth of music in my personal music library that is available for students to use. Students are also welcome to bring in their own sheet music. I have been wanting to play an instrument for such a long time, but never had the motivation to try it, until recently. Wanting to play Piano was a spur of the moment decision for me. I googled piano teachers in my area and Corinne was one of the first people to pop up. After reading all her rave reviews, I decided to give it a go. I was so nervous for my first lesson, but she made me feel comfortable and at ease the minute I walked through the door. She is educated and passionate about music. Also, she is extremely patient. I have been going to her for Piano Lessons now once a week for almost 6 months and I couldn't be happier with my decision. I absolutely, without a doubt, recommend Corinne. She's amazing!

Music Performance

About MaryAnn
Music is my passion, and I love to share it with others! I have been a musician almost my entire life. I began taking piano lessons in grade school and voice lessons in middle school. I continued to study throughout high school and eventually college. I graduated in music from The Ohio State University. I went on to teach music in the public schools as well as private piano and voice lessons. When not teaching, I spend most of my time performing by acting, singing, dancing and modeling. Some past performances include Company; Jekyll and Hyde; The Wizard of Oz; Meet Me In St. Louis; Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs; and Grease. I recently relocated to Los Angeles and am excited to share my passion for music with you!

Every musician needs to be a performer as well. Whether it's the school play or a gig for 30 thousand people, a musician needs to be aware of and working on these performance skills all the time. Having performed all over the world on many many stages, TV shows and other venues, I can help my students refocus some of their energy into making sure their presentation is all that it needs to be.
Many musicians don't realize they can work on these skills using some simple techniques.

About Andrew
British born and Educated at London's prestigious Trinity College of Music and The Royal Academy of Music, my professional musical career has spanned over two decades to date. I have performed with world renowned acts such as Sia, Dave Stewart and Horace Andy, and have been a featured recording artist on many of the worlds most famous film scores while myself having authored or co-authored over 30 movie scores.
A Suzuki violin student since the age of 3, I added piano, guitar, singing and composition during my teenage years. The Suzuki method encourages advanced aural development from very early on and this has turned out to be my strongest suit. With my ear, I have impressed some of the most notable orchestrators, composers, directors and producers in London, Hollywood and the world over. In fact, it was these on the spot aural magic tr
icks that allowed me to impress the Hollywood composer that first invited me to Los Angeles to work on my first blockbuster. That opportunity led to many years of success in the industry and some notoriety.
I have always had a passion for teaching, sharing my knowledge with others and watching other people take immense pleasure in their own achievements. I have been told time and time again that I have a very special gift for teaching and I would very much like to share it with you, whether you want to learn an instrument, musicianship, ear training, composition, hone your vocal or mic skills or learn how to arrange an orchestral piece in just a few hours!
I look forward to talking to you about your specific needs and goals and having the opportunity to help you realize them in a fun friendly and authentic atmosphere.
