PLAYING THE VIOLIN IS FUN! An orchestra of my own young students played for my own wedding. I currently am teaching a set of triplets in my studio. When Los Angeles Rock DJ Dave Richards, the host of top rated 101.5 KGB-FM morning show Dave, Shelly & Chainsaw was getting married he chose my Rock String Quartet to play at his own wedding.

Anna was amazing, we got so much accomplished during our hour session. She was able to take her highly skilled experience and assess exactly where our daughter was at. Her manorism was as kind as a mother with the high skill of a professional. She was patient, kind and encouraging. She went the extra mile and her passion for the violin is palpable and transfers over to the student. Her love of God shines through her instruction even without her saying so, I value this.5 stars from our family

This was the 1st violin lesson for my 5 year old daughter. And it went far better than expected. Mrs. Rui is a wonderful teacher. Patient, warm, and very talented with teaching young children. I was impressed to see how much my daughter learned in only 45 minutes. When it was over my daughter said, "That was so much fun!". My daughter is looking forward to her next lesson.

Music should never simply be a rote-learning process. We develop real artistry. My students learn how to interpret, transform, and create music. From the first lesson, we experiment with various musical "ingredients" and revisit these tools often as we move through a lesson series or repertoire. Students explore a variety of styles and learn to read, compose, and improvise. Students as young as five have created their own theme and variations on a favorite tune with these techniques.

About Lauren
Hello! My name is Lauren S., and I am excited to bring out the musician in you!

Whether you're searching for yourself or your child, I would love to invite you to my beautiful creative space and help you meet your musical goals.

I focus on developing true artistry with my students and giving them the fundamental tools to be able to play and write various styles of music including classical, musical theater, folk, contemporary, Christian, and more.

We play from the very first lesson and learn other concepts such as music theory, literacy, and technique in subsequent lessons.

My students are involved in school ensembles, church choirs, community choirs, community and children's theater, and district contests. I support and seek out these opportunities according to their interests.

Please send me a note! I can't wait to get
started.

Love music? Want to learn more about it and have your fine fingers in a fiddling frenzy? I cannot promise a 12-day boot camp with virtuosic results, but what I can promise is a teacher who is dedicated to her craft, and will pour into you her passion every step of the way.

Now, let’s get to jamming!

About Lauren
Lauren Douglas, a native of Chicago and former resident of Vero Beach, FL, fits into just about every genre of music with her fiddle playing. Her malleability within the industry has afforded her multiple opportunities performing and recording with artists who have styles ranging from Classical to Bluegrass.

Lauren’s latest release, Reminiscent + Relevant, features an array of talent from artists Nathan Taylor, Marc Greenspon, and Maggie Chafee. The eight-track album encapsulates the soul of traditional, Old Time fiddle, while incorporating a cheeky, bluesy element. The album also includes hints of Celtic fiddle, as well as Dance from the Black Sea, an Indian-influenced tune. The tracks take listeners on a journey through time, as well as exploring the different cultural possibilities of string instruments.

Before moving to Nashville t
o pursue music performance studies at Belmont University, Lauren was concertmaster of the Vero Beach High School Orchestra for two consecutive years. She has won multiple concerto competitions within her hometown, as well as fiddle competitions. Lauren founded the classical string quartet, Seaside Strings, in her hometown, and folk/fiddle trio, Elle & the Rootabega Boys. Since living in Nashville, Lauren has had multiple opportunities to participate in local, multi-style recording sessions and performances. She has played most regularly with local Kansas-born singer-songwriter, Savanna Chestnut, and together they toured Florida last Spring to play the 2016 Strawberry Festival in Plant City. Lauren founded and hosted Jamboree, a monthly jam session for students, as well as fiddle video series, Rootabega Sessions.

Currently, Lauren is apart of a classical quintet, a multi-style wedding trio, folk/Americana band, Michelle Knopick & the Screwdrivers, World Fiddle Ensemble, the Belmont University Symphony Orchestra, and most recently, the Nashville-based Bluegrass band, Almanac Ridge. Other notable musicians Lauren has performed with include Belmont alumni, Brave Town, and Kentucky-based Irish band, Feckless Fear Dearg in 2015 and 2016. In October 2016, Michelle Knopick & the Screwdrivers played the Neewollah Festival, Kansas’ largest Fall Festival. Lauren kickstarted her solo recording career by releasing a cover of Natalie MacMaster’s Volcanic Jig in 2015, followed by Reminiscent + Relevant in 2016. She studies privately with Juilliard graduate and protégé of Dorothy Delay, Elisabeth Small, and Grammy Award-winning Tammy Rogers-King of The SteelDrivers. Lauren’s influences include Hanneke Cassel, Brittany Haas, and The Punch Brothers.

Paul has been a tremendous instructor for me and my journey on learning acoustic guitar. During lessons he has also taught me music theory and explained it simply, and through that I feel like the guitar and music in general has been opened up to me and I now see music more clearly. I highly recommend him as an instructor!

Paul is an amazing teacher and mentor. Today we tackled harmonies while recording and it was so special to me. Paul is dedicated to his craft and his students. He prepares for each lesson, whether vocal or piano, and pushes me further along while reinforcing what we learned previously. He's just the perfect balance of strict and encouraging, always leaving me with a lesson that I had not anticipated and a whole lot of fun. I am so happy I found a teacher as great as Paul, he is truly one of a kind!

My daughter has been taking lessons from Josh for years, classical piano, and she is advancing faster than with previous instructors. He has constantly challenged her to become a greater performer and to play beyond her own limitations.

We have been very happy having Josh as her teacher and will continue to keep Josh as her teacher for as long as he is available.

Josh is an encouraging and enthusiastic teacher who takes the time to ensure that my daughter not only masters material but also that she is challenged, so she does not become bored. My daughter has been playing piano for 5 years and Josh is by far the best teacher she has ever had because he continuously brings her to the next level of piano all while making it enjoyable and fun.

I have been taking lessons from Josh for about 6 months now. Easily one of my favorite teachers I have ever had the pleasure of learning from. I feel like every lesson is progress being made to what I want to become as a musician. From theory to the improvisation scales he has taught me, he has worked on giving me exactly what I have asked for and applying it in terms I can understand. Would very highly recommend anyone that wants to learn music to learn from Joshua.

I've been teaching the violin for almost 10 years. I love teaching and share my knowledge with students not only in how to fix their problem but also many useful suggestions for their own practice. I have my own ways to inspire them and let them enjoy playing this instrument. All levels of students are welcome, I am super glad and excited to teach you this wonderful instrument.

About Nan
I started to learn the violin since I was 3 years old. My mom chose this beautiful instrument for me, she thought it's convenient to carry. I came to America after I finished my music education degree in China, then I studied two years in the US for my Master's degree in violin performance. After I got my Master's degree, I found out there are still a lot more space I want to improve, so I came to California to continue my violin study and I got my Artist Diploma in violin performance. I played hundreds of concerts, including chamber and symphony concerts. I have given 5 violin solo concerts in the past years. I have been playing with the professional symphony orchestras. For the violin, no matter which area you want to improve, I can give you the most useful and effective suggestions to help you improve fast.
