Become comfortable with daily conversational Japanese. I also offer music lesson in Japanese.

About Asuka
I started my musical training as a pianist at YAMAHA institute at age 4 in Japan. I was selected to enter perfect pitch class. It was designated for students who have perfect pitch and potentials to be professional musicians.

I enjoyed playing piano and electric piano and won the 1st prize at Kitakantou Electric Piano Competition hosted by YAMAHA institute. Because of the intensive training, I have been accompanying my students' recitals and performance exams.

As much as I enjoyed playing piano, I discovered that I also love singing, so I started to take singing lessons and majored in vocal performance during my college days.

Since I have graduated, I have been performing opera professionally. My career highlights include roles as Cio-cio san(Madame Butterfly) with Snob Opera, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Fairy(Falstaff) with Sir B
ryn Terfel with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Liverpool, England, Dorinda(Orlando) with Cantanti Project, Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) with Opera Manhattan Studio, Frasquita (Carmen) with One World Symphony, Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Clorinda (La Cenerentola) with Capitol Heights Opera, Alice (Le comte Ory) with West Side Opera Society, Adele (Die Fledermaus), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), and Myrrhine (Lysistrata) with Opera Avanti, Gilda (Rigoletto) with Académie Internationale d'Eté de Nice, and The First Spirit (Die Zauberflöte) with the Opera Company of Brooklyn.

My international credits include performances under the direction of Conductor Laurent Pillot at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Liverpool, England;the Académie Internationale d'Eté de Nice, France; the Daniel Ferro Vocal Program in Chianti,Italy; the International Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv, Israel where I was selected to sing for the Japanese Ambassador.

I made appearances as a soloist at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, Town Hall, and MOMA museum in New York City and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

As a versatile singer, I was presented as an aspiring opera singer on the website of Maybelline New York. Her voice was featured in short films for the Japanese technology company NEC. I appeared as a soprano soloist for the opera, Jazz and theater collaboration of "TAKE ABITE" by David Antonio Cruz. I also sings Broadway songs and continues her musical theater studies. She is an active recitalist and also performs Oratorio works.

I was also a finalist at the Opera Idol Competition at Lincoln Center in New York City, The Hariclea Darclée Voice Competition in Romania and the Mario Lanza and Elaine Malbin Vocal Competition in New York City. Ms. Uchida was selected as a vocal scholarship recipient at Savannah music festival.

My upcoming engagement includes singing the role of Gilda in Rigoletto and Oscar in Un ballo in maschera in 2018 in New York City.

Besides being an opera singer, I have been teaching piano and voice for 11 years. I would like to share my skills and experience with you. Since I perform often, I can coach you how to perform on stage in addition to building solid technique and languages. Also, I have taught various kinds of music, such as Rock, Broadway musicals, Pop music, so we can work on all kind of music.

I look forward to teaching you soon!

*** Lesson Details ***
My students can expect to improve their skills and start to enjoy music more as we work together.
I believe that learning music is fun and enjoyable. However you also need to be serious and focused.
I can demonstrate various and specific techniques, phrasing, and interpretation and will always coach on how to develop your skills. However, I feel it is important for students to think critically on their own and take the first try at solving a problem themselves. I cannot emphasize enough that primarily it is you who find the ways to improve. Leaning music is a collaboration between teachers and students. I hope that through my lessons, students will become more self-sufficient and confident as musicians.
Let me help you become a better musician.

About Jesse
*Disclaimer*
I'm currently not taking beginner students on voice/singing, guitar, bass, drums, piano, and ukulele. I highly recommend my studio partners Melissa though. Please check out her profile:

My Background

I've been playing with classical ensembles and rock bands since 2001. Even though I started on classical trombone and rock guitar, I have come to expand my repertoire to a variety of instruments and genres. During my time in college I performed with the University choir, orchestra, and band. I also have organized, wrote/arranged for, and performed with a variety of bands in my home state of New Mexico, as well as Japan, and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Since 2006 I have been an active teacher. This profession has taken me everywhere from working with classical guitar cla
sses in New Mexico high schools to Elementary students in Japan to a variety of private students of various musical instruments and genres everywhere I've been. Since relocating to the Bay Area in 2010, I've had the pleasure of working with lots of great students from kids to adults with a wide range of ambitions. Since 2012 I've been running my own full time studio.

Philosophy of Learning

Lessons are generally designed to work towards giving students the tools to accomplish their goals and become increasingly independent over time. While all students will study similar fundamentals regarding technique, theory, and performance, every lesson is as different as every person. What kind of music do you want to make? I'll tell you what you need to do to get there, and help you take the steps to achieve your aspirations.

I also love to help students put together a song, record, and produce it for them so that they can have a recording to share with their friends and family.

I also hold events for my students. (Check out our pictures and videos below!)
Younger students have opportunities to perform for friends and family at my studio every few months. Once or twice a year we'll also stage a larger event off site for more individual students and bands classes to perform.
Adult students also occasionally have events where they get a chance to get together and play music as well.

Aside from in-studio lessons, students also have the option to sign up for online lessons via Skype.
(*Online lessons offered during different times than in-studio lessons.)

*Unfortunately due to scheduling issues, I'm not currently accepting students for bi-weekly lessons. I can do regular weekly lessons, or occasional drop-in lessons, but bi-weekly appointments make it really hard for me to give the best scheduled times to my existing weekly students. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

My studio is equipped with:

*Music Stands

*A P.A. System

*Vocal and instrument microphones

*Guitars, Basses, Ukulele, Banjos, etc

*Two guitar amps and a bass amp

*Various percussion including a fully equipped acoustic drum set

*A Roland V-Drums electronic drum set

*An electric piano console and Yamaha organ

*A MicroKorg Synthesizer

*A Tuba, Trombone, Cornet, Saxophone, and Flute

*An extensive physical and virtual music library

*A recording system that students are not only welcome to use but encouraged to

*HD Webcam and condenser microphone for high fidelity online lessons via Skype

今日は and welcome to learning Japanese, I have a bachelor's degree in Japanese language and culture from the Ohio State University, and I have tutored Japanese before and it really isn't as intimidating as it looks. I've learned through many ways and I have many many resources that I will gladly share with you so you can learn on your own, whether you're a beginner or advanced, I can direct you to how to become very fluent with all my knowledge and resources combined. Also as a bonus I will teach you some kanji calligraphy if interested as well.

About Moataz
I am a Freelance Graphic Designer living in Stamford, Connecticut. I love learning and teaching, like a lot. I teach languages, Lettering, branding, and the basics of Graphic design as well as the adobe programs that bring it to life.

My promise to you is that I will teach you everything I know in the time I'm given and provide you with all sorts of outside resources to get you on your way to fluency and proficiency.

I'll make sure to do my absolute best to get you speaking a new language from day one, learning a Design program immediately, or teaching you how to letter with the rules they don't teach you in school. And best of all, I'll even show you how to actually make money with all of these.

I have a very unique journey into learning where I experienced many places and got a fresh and different understanding to the many su
bjects that I teach. For example my knowledge of multiple languages and travel to different countries gave me an added knowledge of linguistics that I experienced first hand and confirmed in books, so now I know how languages work, and can relate a concept from one language to another even if the languages seem completely different.

My Design work has been very general so I've done a lot of different things before I specialized in hand lettering, so I've done it all from advertisements on billboards to website design and development, to copywriting, to branding from start to finish for companies big and small.

My love for lettering and Calligraphy emerged when I started getting more Logos for client work and my exploration of type wasn't the best answer most of the time so I would letter everything myself, and the rest is history.

I am really passionate about learning and even more passionate about sharing what I've learned. I am efficient, I know what works for different people since I taught in classrooms and tutored way before I knew about Takelessons, and I'm most proud of being praised as a very genuine person. A very common compliment I get is that I sincerely want my students to do well. And it makes me really happy every time someone says it, and I hope that one day you see that and tell me the same thing.

Feel free to find out more about me and ask me anything you want, and I really look forward to one day teach you something that will get you to achieve your goals! :)

Just so there are no surprises, I raise my prices very slightly every 3 months, next time it will go up is on March 3rd 2017. The reason for this is because I get better and more efficient at teaching as time goes by, so that hour that you get now is much more packed with value than the same hour last year or last month.

I have my own teaching method based on my past experience and research, and I incorporate the use of a textbook into my teachings only as a form of review. Students are able to learn all the basic knowledge and information that they need before even opening up a textbook.

About Kazumasa
I am a Japanese national and have been living in the United States since 2001. I studied at Shizuoka University in Japan and my major was education. My courses focused on international culture and the classes prepared me to teach the Japanese language and culture to foreigners.

I am currently teaching more than 20 classes a week including classes at a language school and private tutoring, So far, through the many years of being a tutor, l taught and am still currently teaching Americans, British, Chinese, Koreans, Filipinos and others, ranging from elementary students to retirees privately and tutored them in various aspects of Japanese depending on their individual needs through English instruction.

The thing I love most about tutoring is seeing the face and eyes of a student that has been having a difficult time with a lesson, w
hen he/she finally grasps what I have been trying to teach them. Another favorite thing about tutoring is watching the evolution of a student over time and knowing that I am solely responsible for that progression. I am very thorough and patient when it comes to tutoring my students. I will go to any length to make sure that whatever it is that I am teaching them will be absorbed by them resulting in their betterment, thereby building a sound foundation from which to build.

Let's start broadening your Japanese conversation by talking about what interests you the most right now! Please feel free to contact me to help you achieve your goals!

Hi, I’ve taught Japanese since 2002 and I’ve always enjoyed teaching and interacting with students. I have taught American adults and college students for over 5 years now. Teaching Japanese to American military personnel and spouses who were stationed in Japan was the most rewarding experiences I’ve had. They truly needed the language skills to live in Japan, and they really appreciated that they were able to learn survival Japanese that’s instantly useful out in town.

I grew up in Japan and came to US to go to college. Since I was a college student, I taught Japanese to middle and high school students during summer in Japan. I have a Master of Education in TESL. Yes, I used to teach English more vigorously, but I found teaching Japanese more rewarding. I teach all levels including those who are starting out and also want to improve their fluency and understand the culture and history!
I’m looking forward to working with whoever is interested in my language :) Thank you!!

About Ai
I started my teaching career when I was a college student. In Japan, I taught both English and Japanese to middle and high school students at a private academy. I have also taught Japanese to adults especially the spouses stationed in Japan and also community college. I have the Master of Education in TESL; therefore, I’ve taught English more vigorously, but know what it takes to be successful at second language acquisition. I really find it rewarding to teach those who are interested in Japanese language and culture.

I like to get to know your learning styles and what motivates you. I will cater to your needs and make your own lesson plan just for you.

I love teaching and discovering my own culture through the eyes of the students. I love to meet new people and just love the people who want to learn a foreign language. It gives you
an opportunity to widen your view of the world!

I’ve also played the piano since I was 3 years old and have the Yamaha certification; therefore, I teach piano too. I also love to play!!

KONNICHIWA !
Hello!

I am very happy that you are interested in learning Japanese.
I am Japanese from Tokyo, teaching Japanese in Berkeley area to beginners to Advanced, children to adult. Many students moved to Japan after taking my lessons, traveling to Japan or passed JLPT N1 to N5. You can set up your goal and learn a real Japanese that you can speak, read and write in your daily life.

I make a teaching plan, text and worksheet only for you individually with your goal and preferences. I have a short lesson to teach Japanese only for your traveling, too.

I also teach Japanese cooking, Origami, songs, and Japanese calligraphy as a part of lesson, so you can touch the Japanese culture and enjoy them!

Some students prefer to have a lesson at a cafe or a library, so if you live in the local, please pick your ideal place to learn Japanese comfortably. Moreover, you can take my lesson after work because I am available until 23:00. Even though you live in the local, you can join ...

About Shinobu
Hello!
KONNICHIWA!

I am very happy to hear that you are interested in learning Japanese.
I have been teaching Japanese children to adult, beginners to advanced.
I had a request to teach Japanese to 3 years old girl last year before she moved to Japan in order to attend to a Japanese kindergarten smoothly. So I thanked her that I learned to teach Japanese from 3 years old. Now I can accept a student from 3 years old to any age.

My tutoring is not just teaching Japanese language to a student. I want to teach more than language, such as our culture and traditions. So I add cooking, Origami (folding a paper), Japanese calligraphy, singing, story telling into the lessons. We need "FUN" to learn the second language and I believe it is the best tools for the learning it even adult. I teach both formal and casual in speaking, writing. So
you can communicate and exchange conversations or responses with Japanese smoothly because my teaching method is not like a text book at school.

If you faced to the wall and struggling, try to change the method to learn Japanese. The text book Japanese at school is good for the test and business, but the proper Japanese is just like the Japanese animation films or movies you want to understand and watch. Moreover, the language is alive, so I add to teach new things including slang which may be not in your text book, to understand recent movies and animation films.

I sometime work for a Japanese company in Japan. Currently, I am working with a project for 2020 Tokyo Olympic.

If you have any question, please contact me. I am looking forward to seeing you soon.

Arigatou.
Thank you,

Cancel policy: If you need to cancel your lesson, please contact me at least 24 hours before. Please remember if it was less than 24 hours, it is non-refundable.

About Joelle
Hello! Konnichiwa!

I'm a travel enthusiast who found my second home in Tokyo, Japan. I have lots of hobbies, but I especially love photography and visiting modern art museums. My advice for language learners is to have fun with the language, and challenge themselves in some small way everyday so that they can grow! Language is an excellent way to keep your mind young and flexible. For young minds, it can provide an additional way to express yourself.

I am a very dynamic and enthusiastic teacher. That means you'll never be bored, and I hope that I can get you to laugh. It's important to relax when learning languages. At the same time, I know how to set achievable & incremental goals and will create a curriculum based on where you want to be in a year. I want to give you as many opportunities to practice the language as possible, so not
only should you be able to be a passive participant (listening and reading,) but an active force! (Speaking, and some basic writing)
