About Lars
I began to teach guitar at 16 years of age. I have taught students from 7 to 60 years old in a wide variety of styles. From age 12 to 21 I took private guitar lessons regularly. Now I have a lesson every once in a while. I studied jazz guitar primarily with Randy Vincent, one of the San Francisco Bay Area's greatest guitar players. Aside from teaching lessons as a job, I have played guitar in many concerts and continue to do so. Before moving to San Francisco, I gained a lot of experience and valuable education with guitar. I played in the jazz bands in Junior High and High School. I
went to four years of a week long summer jazz camp called jazz camp west where I took classes, played open mics and had fun with many musicians, making some good friends. I hold BA degrees in Music (Jazz Guitar) and Spanish, as well as an MA in Music, from San Francisco State University. By now, I am confident in working with whatever musical material students offer! Thank you.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a laid back teacher, but I definitely expect students to practice what I suggest they practice. I advise that students use method books or sheet music of some sort, and I will certainly make notes for them and create materials they can learn from. I always teach based on the goals of the student and what type of music they enjoy, but I also like to guide the student in a direction I think would benefit them. I usually introduce music to play right away, conforming of course to the skill level and interest of the student. I now play seven-string guitar, which is just a six-string guitar (same tuning and technique) with an extra low string. It will be practical to aide students by accompanying with a bass range instrument.

*** Specialties ***
Guitar
I consider myself a Jazz musician, but I am happy to consider a very wide range of styles. I am focusing now on music of the Spanish Golden Age, 1500-1700.

Lars has picked up on what we wanted to learn from the start. He listens well and is a good communicator in instruction. My daughter had only learned how to play certain songs, which she did quite well. With Lars she is learning how to pick and other techniques in strumming and chord change that she's never been taught before. We look forward to continuing with Lars and adding some voice instruction as well. Wonderful personality, great disposition !

About Alexander
I've been playing guitar since I was 12 and a musician since very early childhood. I've exchanged musical ideas with hundreds and hundreds of people, studied music formally, and learned by ear; I am an advocate of folk-style teaching, that is, direct transmission from teacher to student; but music theory is central to my teaching and playing style. I believe in learning thing in order, first to last. This is not as boring as it sounds. In fact it is powerful. We start with basic rhythm, harmony, and scale forms. We immediately apply these to music of your choice. It is always about music and n
ever about "practice." Practice is just food for the music: we feed it according to its appetite. The hungrier you are for musical knowledge, the more I will feed you forms and practices. It is always proportional to your desire, so this learning is never difficult. You get exactly what you need.

Alex is a great teacher - well worth getting lessons from him. He understands theory as well as the art of music and passes along his wisdom with fun and ease.

Alex has both advanced technique and extensive music theory knowledge. He is a creative musician and makes lessons much more interesting and inspiring than other teachers I've had before. He has a unique ability of explaining music theory with more than just the textbook approach, often using metaphors and examples that communicate the concept, making them easier to remember.

He's also a patient teacher which I appreciate. He didn't get frustrated when I struggled. Instead he focused on figuring out a different way of explaining the issue I was struggling with. We always found a way in the end.

He's also just a fascinating guy so lessons are more interesting and not just transactional. I've had other teachers in the past who were good but I didn't look forward to the lessons. It's easier to make progress when you have a creative and inspiring time with your teacher. Thanks Alex!

About Cameron
Hi my name is Cameron and I live in the Skyhawk community of Santa Rosa. I have been playing the drums since I was about 14 years old. My hope is to get you where you want to go on the drums!

All levels are welcome

To get started we just need to see where you are at on a practice pad.

You don't need to own a drum set to have drum lessons.

I can provide practice pads and stands and everything we need to get started.

Thanks!

I came to Cameron having essentially no drumming experience whatsoever. He's a great instructor: relaxed, friendly, comfortable. Very knowledgable and easy to work with. The best part for me is how easily he can transfer from genre to genre; we've gone from alternative to jazz without an issues, and I always feel comfortable approaching him with a problem or new need. Uses positive reinforcement and has so far been able to find a fix and/or exercise for every issues I've had. Obviously a great drummer, as well. Would definitely recommend to any person.

Cameron is a very encouraging, patient and supportive teacher. He genuinely cares about your desire to improve and creates lessons that not only improve your skills but also push you to a new level. His passion for music is obvious and is quickly recognized by his professional yet relaxed and fun attitude as well as his dedication. Great teacher. Great person. I never thought I'd be able to do what I've done with his support! Girls can drum too!!

About Ruth
I've been a professional musician for many years in the classical singing world. I love all kinds of music and have been teaching for over ten years. I'm known for being very kind and supportive. I have two degrees in Music, one from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England. I've been active on classical choral and early music recordings and therefore I get to vote in the GRAMMYs ... my high school students usually help me to consider the Best New Artist category although I have strong opinions of my own because I love pop music too! I teach beginning piano, and all levels of
singing. I've raised two great kids of my own and am married to another professional musician. I love helping people to bring more music into their lives!

Here is an article I love about returning to music lessons as an older person: https://nyti.ms/2jG2kL8

Ruth is one of the best teachers I have had on any subject and my favorite voice teacher of the 3 that I have received lessons from. Ruth is deeply compassionate and highly skilled at bringing out the natural voice that wants to express from my heart. The first few lessons I was in tears, feeling the joy of my own beautiful voice make its way from the cave of my heart. Ruth's teaching technique is lovely and loving. I highly recommend her to anyone who wants to explore the freedom of finding their voice!

Stephen is the perfect teacher for my 14 year old son who is a beginner on trumpet. My son enjoys trumpet as a hobby, and plays in his school band. Stephen's lessons are fun and low pressure. He is remarkably calm and professional, and he doesn't waste any lesson time. My son looks forward to his lessons with Stephen.

How to Become a Piano Technician | Skills and Demands
If you have a natural curiosity for how things work, then you've probably spent more than a few moments' thought on not just the general maintenance of your piano, but also piano tuning. A piano technician doesn't just tune your piano; he or she will carry out repairs and maintenance to allow you to get the best out of your instrument, and eve
Why Are Piano Keys Arranged That Way?
When you look at the keys on a piano, a few things pop out right away. First, there are both white and black keys, and second, there is a distinct pattern that the keys on piano repeat. While most modern pianos contain 88 keys, you can find pianos with a shortened range, and even some that increase the number! But why, exactly, are the keys set up like that? We'll explore that in this article. Black and White Keys on Piano Pianos are arranged with white keys for the musical tones of A, B, C,
5 Contemporary Songs for the Piano, Guitar, and Voice

With any of the songs for the piano, guitar, and voice, your music teacher can help you with some pointers, and might even be able to teach you the chords by listening to the song. Be sure to ask
