Learn with a native Spanish speaker from Bolivia. I have a passion to teach and help while sharing my culture and knowledge. My classes are adaptable for every student, an I will tailor the learning experience to each student's specific goals and needs.

There are 20 countries in the world that have Spanish as their official language, but Spanish is not exactly the same everywhere. I enjoy sharing insights into regional colloquialisms to help you prepare better for your unique circumstances.

About Gustavo
I started teaching Spanish in 2011 in Bolivia, helping people visiting my country learn the local language and customs.

In more recent years I have helped Spanish learners prepare for trips to Spanish speaking countries, to write documents and letters in the appropriate style and tone, and to deepen their knowledge in order to be able to communicate (both casually and professionally) better with Spanish speakers.

Today was my first lesson with Gustavo. From the start, he was super warm and welcoming. We had already worked the details before meeting today on where I wanted to focus my learning and he had a plan and peripherals ready to go. He really stretched me today, allowing me to engage in the language and corrected where needed. At the end of the lesson, he gave me some homework to help me prepare for our next lesson. I'm really excited about our future lessons together!

"Everybody is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, It will live its whole life believing that it is stupid" - Albert Einstein

Being a Spanish native speaker, who taught both English to Spanish speaking and Spanish to English speaking people, I have reached the conclusion that repetition is key. Mostly conversetional, but also written, pounding in the same words, the same constructions is how you interiorize them, adding then new material.

In general, in private tutoring, one has to adapt to the student characteristics. I have always believed that creating a confortable space in which the student is able to try, make mistakes and try again brings the best results. Listening, emotional contact and confidence are key.

Every student is different!

About Roberto
I am currently a graduate student doing research at UC Berkeley. Even though my grad studies (Aerospace Engineering) are located in the Netherlands, I decided to explore and feel new experiences coming here, as I did doing my internship in the UK or volunteering in South East Asia (were I did some class-style teaching to local Indonesian kids and teenagers for more than 3 weeks!).

All those experiences have brought me a great multicultural understanding, which, although may look no related, helps a lot when getting to know your new student.

Sports nature and music enter the top three of my
hobbies. Simple living as a lifestyle.

I have been (still am) a student for many years, and therefore I understand very well how frustation, not.comprehending or learning new material feels. They say the best way of experiencing and knowing about something is doing it.

Masculine & Feminine Spanish Nouns | Test Yourself!
In English, every noun has a neutral gender. This makes it easy to learn, so you really only need to learn the new word and the learning stops there. In Spanish, on the other hand, every single noun is either masculine or feminine. This means that every time you learn a new Spanish vocabulary word, you need to learn its accompanying gender as well. This may appear confusing for beginners, but bear with me! Here are the general rules for determining masculine and feminine Spanish nouns:
