The clarinet is often referred to as the most challenging woodwind instrument. So, in lessons, we'll be sure to cover all the basics of tone production, breath support, musicality, and technique to ensure a solid foundation to build upon. I tend to teach these concepts through the use of various exercises and etude/method and duet books which are important for musical development and also fun!

I have taught clarinet to beginning and high school students. I have 30 years experience teaching both privately and as a band director. I know the curriculum and techniques to help you efficiently and effectively reach your goals. I have guided students through the challenges beginning and mastering the clarinet and can help you!

The most important element of becoming a musician is learning to play musically. As I lead my college students into a music profession, I remind them that I am primarily teaching them to be musicians who perform musically through their chosen instrument. This is what sets performs apart and I can help you become a better musician on saxophone, clarinet or any other instrument.

I have been teaching private lessons on woodwinds, including the clarinet, for 23 years. I emphasize fundamental techniques of sound production, fingering and music reading to help you become the best player possible. I use various published methods for the clarinet depending upon your ability level. All styles of music are within your reach on the clarinet!
