Brentwood, NY

I have been successfully tutoring chemistry students for over twenty years, and can provide references upon request.

My academic training was primarily in X-Ray diffraction physics to determine the stereo-chemistry and atomic structure of crystal solids. As a Physics PhD candidate (at Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn), I worked on the chemical structure determination for many new compounds.

My research career as a crystallographer in the Chemistry Department at Brookhaven National Laboratory, and my science training (in physics and chemistry) has served me well at other positions in industry (at Grumman, Robotic Vision, American Science, and other companies).

In addition to my career in research and industry, I have also been teaching courses in mathematics and the physical sciences, for over thirty years, as an Adjunct Professor at several colleges on Long Island.

Professor BAM was very patient with my son, and was able to teach him material that he found very difficult to learn in a traditional classroom. There was constant communication amongst the student, the parent, and the tutor which was a recipe for success. I highly recommend Bruce.

From the moment we met Bruce, he was very organized and had an ability to grab the attention of our son before moving on to the next step. Our son felt comfortable with Bruce from day one and looks forward to seeing him for his weekly tutoring. We feel fortunate to have found Bruce and have him help our son reach his goal in writing. Thank you, Bruce!!

Charles P.

About Charles

I'm a graduate of Princeton University with a passion for teaching. I quite simply enjoy leading students through difficult course material and preparing them for standardized exams. I believe that learning is a ongoing process and that tutoring should make that process more manageable. Tutoring for over 6 years, I credit my success to a single philosophy: above all, I try to instill confidence in my clients by helping them manage their academic workload. In every lesson, I negotiate their expectations while also putting them in the best possible position to succeed. Beyond providing customized worksheets and study guides, my services reduce stress levels and increase sustained focus. Consequently, my sessions are known to be very productive.

Mustafa A.

Bronx, NY

I have been tutoring chemistry for over 4 years. I enjoy teaching it because I have so much knowledge in the subject and always willing to learn more.

My goal is to make the student happy after leaving the session for knowing a lot more than he/she did before the session.

My strategy is to create an imaginary bridge between my brain and the student's brain where information flow back and forth (questions and answers) until the student becomes fully aware of the subject and be confident to even teach it to someone else. The subject would be a second nature to the student.

About Mustafa

Graduated in May 2014 with a BS in Biology. Since I was a Pre-Med major, I am very experienced with many sciences such as chemistry, biology, math, physics, etc. I have a talent at teaching. I am capable of passing on the knowledge to any person and have him/her leave with the smile of knowing a new knowledge.

I attended a weekend chemistry workshop for beginners that Aman led this past summer. I also work with young people and so I have an acute eye for ability to communicate and teach on the level with people, including young people, of all ages. I am myself a former tutor (though I did not tutor sciences), and I thought Aman was very skilled and aware.
I had such a tremendously enjoyable time learning chemistry with Aman that I reflected what a difference it would have made when I was a young person to have had this kind of sensitive, creative, and thorough teaching of the basics. He knows how to cover the fundamentals well, while remaining very attentive to the student. He is soft-spoken, kind, and has very high standards- and yet he never came across as "pressuring" or "critical" of the students. He covered the information very well in an organized manner, communicating it in a number of ways that allowed different kinds of learners to grasp the concepts, he answered questions well, he paid attention to each student and I did have a sense that he cared that I personally understood the material. Finally, I would just say that I thought he was very respectful and caring to the students and very good with young people.

Amanuel is a very patient and thorough tutor who clearly enjoys teaching. His enthusiasm is infectious -- he made science fun, which I didn't think was possible! He explained concepts to me in an easy, understandable way. I highly recommend him and would use him again.
