Hi! I am excited to work with students of all ages and levels, and I am here to help you unlock the treasury of our music together. I'm devoted to passing on the joy of music-making to performers of any age, whether you are passionate about musical theater, classical music, popular music, or just for the fun of making music. As a soloist, I am a frequent performer throughout the Northeast. This season's performances include engagements with Lowell House Opera, Opera Brittenica, Cantata Singers, Opera Providence, and concerts and TV appearances with the award-winning folk music group Voice of the Turtle, as well as numerous recitals. As a classical collaborative singer, I've performed in a choral setting with the New York Philharmonic, the Dresden Philharmonic, the Philadelphia ...
Singing is one of the most challenging and rewarding areas of musical performance. It's so personal and expressive that a lot of us feel uncomfortable approaching the voice at all. I've been singing and performing for over a decade. Using proper breathing technique and customized warm-ups I can help you become the best possible singer you can be! The first step is always the hardest but I am confident that we can do it!
I eat/breathe/sleep music. From writing and conducting my first A Capella piece in high school to playing in bands that have toured around the world (The Fates, Ben Levin Group), I am a music machine! I value nothing more than finding that passion in others and working together to turn musical fantasies into realities. From grade school to high school I took rigorous classical piano lessons. In 2006-07 I attended two summer programs at Berklee College of Music where I studied jazz/rock performance, and continued to study jazz piano at Washington University. At Boston University, I studied classical music composition/theory, and was accepted to for a dual degree in Music Composition, Psychology, but decided to pursue music as a minor in order to allow more time for gigging. Since ...
ABOUT ME I began taking both voice and piano lessons at the age of 11, after years of sitting outside my older sisters' clarinet lessons and wishing to study music, myself. I fell in love with music at my very first lesson, and knew that it was what I would do with my life. I went on to attend New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where I received my Bachelor of Music in vocal performance, and then onto Longy School of Music of Bard College, where I am currently working on my Masters in vocal performance and continuing piano as a secondary instrument. I am the co-owner of The Creative Musician and have experience teaching piano students ranging from 4-year-old beginners to experienced adults and voice students ranging from novices to conservatory-bound high-school seniors. I am
I have been involved with singing longer than any other art form. My mama sang constantly as she worked. I sang along from my crib. First came the Arias, Later in life, Musical Theatre and later still, singer/songwriting. I have had the benefit of many teachers and eclectic tastes and love passing on the knowledge. There is nothing more fun than watching someone discover their own voice.
I have taught piano and voice most of my adult life. Early on I learned the need to adapt my teaching style to the uniqueness of each student, especially those whose perceptions differ widely from the general populace. I love what I do, helping each student discover and nurture their abilities, no matter what age the student may be. The Holistic Piano method is especially effective with my Autism-spectrum students, a segment of the population I find particularly rewarding to teach. The following is a quote from ex-student Karena Krull, author of "Drama Made Easy", and "Rummy Roots." “Her greatest strength is her ability to find the right direction for each individual. This ability to adapt to the student's needs lends to individual success for student and avoids their ...
I have been interested in music for as long as I can remember. I began taking piano lessons when I was six and started auditioning for musicals at eight. I fell in love with performing, and my passion has grown into a career path. I began studying voice privately when I was in thirteen. Music and performing have brought so much joy to my life, and I love to help others develop and cultivate their own passion for music. I recently received my Masterâs Degree in Vocal Performance from the New England Conservatory. I also hold a Bachelorâs Degree in Vocal Performance from DePaul University. During undergrad, I was able to study abroad for a semester in Vienna, Austria where I performed in an opera workshop. I have spent two summers on Cape Cod singing with the College Light Opera ...
