Marc D.

Petaluma, CA

Irish, folk and Bluegrass styles, tunes, scales, improvisation techniques

About Marc

I've been playing music since I was 14 years old. I studied classical guitar at State University in Buffalo, NY. and also studied guitar at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. I love just about every style of music. I mostly play Celtic, Bluegrass, American traditional, jazz, and classical. I also love to improvise.
My goal is to get my students results so they feel that they are really making progress. I do this by incorporating practice exercises, ear training and some music theory.
Music theory and reading music can be intimidating for beginning students. So I like to get you pla
ying first and add theory a little at a time so you can better understand it through experience and it makes learning more fun.

I have been taking fiddle/violin lessons from Marc for a few months now, and it has been a great experience. He is very patient and keeps things fun by helping me learn pieces that I am interested in learning to play. I would highly recommend him for any instrument you are wanting to learn.

I have been playing the mandolin for about four years now and have had several different teachers, of which Marc is by far the best one I have had. I wish I had started with him. Marc is very patient and works with you to bring out your best effort. He challenges me with interesting music to play, helps me to understand the piece and shows me different ways to finger the notes. When I started with Marc two months ago I was playing hornpipes and dances and now I've moved up to Bach and Vivaldi. Marc is also an accomplished instrument maker.

Constance M.

Hercules, CA

I structure lessons based on each student's level and learning ability. Fundamentals are taught such as scales and exercises that will attribute to their technical and musical growth.

About Constance

I received my Master's Degree in Music Performance from California State University Long Beach in May 2015. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2013.

I am patient, and I understand that each student learns at a different pace, and that each lesson should cater to his or her own level, needs, and ability. One of my main goals as a teacher is to help students find happiness through music, and I want to help them reach their musical goals.

Amanda C.

Napa, CA

Hello!

Having taught for the past 12 years/played for 22 (studied at the University of Indianapolis chamber orchestra) from ages ranging 3 (we make box instruments and have lots of fun!) to 67.

I provide a warm, friendly, informatively, and fun experience for all ages which will grow with each students's musical ability and will hopefully last throughout their life. (If you are wanting a strict no-nonsense teacher, I'm probably not it!)

About Amanda

Ever the arts lover, I've split my last 11 years between privately teaching violin and viola and being a wedding photographer - both things I absolutely adore!

My past age ranges have been from as young as 3 (we build box instruments and have lots of fun!) to 67. Both spectrums have their bonuses for me. I love to make lessons insightful, very fun informative, and hopefully a bright spot in your week. I'm NOT the stereotypical strict, no-nonsense teacher (if that's what you need, I'm sorry that I'm not your girl!). I hope to provide a warm and friendly learning enviroment which will last w
ith you as you grow musically.

(And if you're wondering - I was trained at University of Indianapolis as first chair (viola) in their chamber orchestra and have been playing for 22 years thus far.)

I bought my first Violin for my 50th birthday. I knew it would a challenge to learn and then I met Amanda. She completely put me at ease and I was playing songs in just a couple of weeks. After just a few months I played Silent Night at Christmas for my church. Plus Amanda came and played along with me. As she did a few other times. After about a year I played my first wedding. Amanda teaches with patience and understanding. She is very easy to learn from. My only complaint is that she moved away from Indiana.
