Anne F.

North Fort Myers, FL

About Anne

Watching her aunt perform a piano sonata at a graduation ceremony inspired Anne to learn to play the piano at age seven. After years of lessons, she stopped to pursue other interests, including a degree in Electrical Engineering. But the music never really left her so after what turned out to be a 20-year break, Anne began again in 2002 studying music theory, adding a return to piano performance in 2004.

In April 2008, Anne debuted her own compositions in recital. Several piano students have performed her music as well, both as "teaching pieces" and in recital. Recent compositions include
music for piano students and piano arrangements for Celtic and popular music.

Trained as a classical pianist, Anne's repertoire includes classical, Broadway, Celtic and popular music. She performs regularly in both formal recitals and informal gatherings.

*** Lesson Details ***
It has been said that Beethoven cautioned his students that playing without emotion, without being part of the music, without caring, is unforgivable. My goal is to help you express your emotions through playing the piano.

To bring out the emotion in the music, it is important that the lesson plan is tailored to each individual. It is equally important to pursue the music that interests the student the most.

It is fun to play the piano and it is a skill that can be learned - or re-learned - at any age.

*** Studio Equipment ***
baby grand piano

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have an older 64 key keyboard that I could bring if necessary, but I would expect the student to have a keyboard or piano available to practice on.

*** Specialties ***
Classical, Broadway, music theory, chords

Anna P.

Port Charlotte, FL

About Anna

I love teaching others to enjoy music! We have fun in our lessons and laugh frequently. I prefer to teach from the Alfred's Basic Piano Library, but will work with what you already have to save money up front. I like to teach music theory and strive for my students to understand theory concepts.

I currently teach from my home with an electronic piano. Cozy atmosphere and comfortable couch for parents, siblings, and/or friends. Recommend for students to have access to a keyboard, organ, or piano for practicing throughout the week.

If the student wishes, I try to help them play by ea
r, write their own songs, and play what they enjoy along with their lesson book. We can work on major & minor scales, chords, arpeggios, and rolling broken chords.

I'm currently on rotation with my home church as a keyboard player. I'm so grateful that God has given me a talent, and I want to give back and praise Him!

Pianist Spotlight: How Ben Folds Brought the Piano Back to Pop
Ray Charles, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Stevie Wonder—so many names top the list of influential piano players in music history. But for a while there, as dance, metal, and grunge took center stage, piano was relegated to the sidelines. One artist who changed that, however, was Ben Folds. Ben Folds grew up in in North Carolina listening to piano greats l
5 Stereotypes Lead Singers Face (& How to Overcome Them)
Do you sing with a band? If so, you may have been wrongfully accused of one of the many stereotypes lead singers face -- even if you're always on your best behavior! Here, St. Augustine, FL voice teacher Heather L. shares her tips for proving them wrong...   I'm the lead singer -- uh, make that the only singer -- of two bands, an acoustic duo and a guitar/drum/piano/mandolin group. And as much fun as I have in each rehearsal, and as well as I get along with my bandmates, being a lead
Age or Aptitude: When to Start Violin Lessons
Some start optimistically young, others driven by passion start much later in life, but when is the right time to start violin lessons? Like any other form of art, there’s simply no black or white when it comes to exploring music. The right time to start can’t be measured exclusively by age. Some ambitious parents start their kids at the age of two, and while many go off to become YouTube sensations, a whole lot more tend to give up by the age of five. So what should you consider before diving

Here, voice and acting teacher Liz T. shares her tips for audition success...   Summer stock theatre is a tradition that started in the 1920s, in which talented actors, singers, and dancers from the big city would perform and work on their craft for an entire summer at a local theater, very common in New England and the Midwest.
