How do I enter?

Entering is easy! To apply, simply write an essay of no more than 250 words, answering the following topic:

If you could earn a living doing what you love most, what would it be, and how would it change the world? Describe the specific goals you would set to make that dream a reality.

Submit your essay here, and you’ll automatically get a link to the published page. Share this link on your social media sites, like Facebook and Twitter, or email it directly to your family and friends – you’ll need their votes to move on to the next round!

Entries may be submitted from 12 a.m. PST on Thursday, May 1st, 2014, through 11:59 p.m. PST on Tuesday, September 30th, 2014.

When is the submission deadline?

The deadline to enter is 11:59 p.m. PST on Tuesday, September 30th, 2014. We encourage you to submit your entry early, though, to give yourself ample time to receive votes!

How are the winners picked?

There are two phases of the competition. From May 1st through September 30th, all submissions will be published and available for the public to vote on their favorite essay. Votes will be accepted up until 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30th, 2014.

Once the first phase ends, the 10 entries with the most votes will move on to the finalist round. These finalist essays will be reviewed by our internal scholarship committee, made up of TakeLessons staff members, who will select the three winners.

What is considered a "vote" on an essay?

A vote is calculated when an individual clicks on the heart shaped vote icon at the top or bottom of a participant’s essay. Each person may only vote for an essay once.
