FiddlerMan has a number of different resources for beginner to intermediate violinists. He even has a special section devoted to people who have never touched a violin before.

    As a violinist myself, I think there are many benefits to playing the violin.
    Higher self-esteem. . Playing any musical instrument is highly rewarding due to bringing you a lasting feeling of accomplishment.
    Socially rewarding. I think this assists the “higher self-esteem” point. The violin is slightly more socially rewarding than most instruments.
