When I was 19 years old, I was lucky enough to learn how to play guitar from some amazing blues and bluegrass musicians living on the Gulf Coast in Alabama on a sailboat. I mean I even got to hear and play with Tugboat Willie, and got to watch a boy named Guthrie Trapp become an amazing guitarist. It was magical! And then life moved me, gave me a family, and my music kind-of faded if not got down-right lost. Then last year a whole happened-not all good, but thankfully I still had the small acoustic I bought two decades ago. I picked it up and my life transformed back to the musical, the creative, the beautiful! It took me a few weeks to find my fingers and voice again. But now I want to play instead of check my email or watch the news or read. It is so rewarding; It is amazing what music can do for the soul! My children now hear and play with me every day, and I started teaching piano lessons in January as well. The guitar brought piano back, too. It’s going to be a great year!
