Children Need Love Too

There is no greater feeling than to feel loved and accepted. Earning a living while working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is one of my biggest dreams. Caring for infants is my passion. Turning my dream into a reality, I plan to receive my Master of Science Degree in Nursing so that when the time comes for me to start fulfilling my dreams as a Neonatal Nurse, I will have already mastered my field of study. While in the process, I am going to volunteer at a children’s hospital to gain more experience and become an expertise. Even if I am just learning how to properly hold infants at the time, I will be okay with that because I have to start somewhere and learning the little things is just as important, especially when it comes to small children. One of the main reasons as to why caring for infants is my passion is because I want to give them the same chance I had growing up. Whether a newborn is adopted or brought home, I want to be that luminous light in his/her life that makes him/her feel loved and accepted. I can’t stress it enough how important it is for newborns, and children in general, to have at least one person that they can count on for the sake of their development and their mental state of mind. It is with keeping less ill children out of the hospital and spreading my love, the world will change.

Change the World Through Words

Ideally, I would be a writer. As a person who has gone through PTSD I would use my work to make people, especially adolescents, not feel so alone. The teenage years are so essential to growth and coming into ones own. Too many young adults suffer from depression and isolation. This leads to too many different problems that could be avoided if they didn’t feel so isolated. I would also like to be a humanitarian in my work. Emphasizing justice, racial equality, environmentalism and of course mental illness. I would hope that my words could open people’s eyes to issues that are often not prevalent in everyday society. Young people have more power than they think. I wish that I had had the knowledge to be more active as a teen and raise awareness with my peers. The future truly is with our children and young adults. The more power they claim the better off we are in the world.

I believe that the simplest things can inspire a person to greatness. It may be the beauty of a golden late afternoon sun, an encouraging word, or the resonance of a musical chord. Whatever it is that speaks to a particular person doesn’t have to be a grand gesture to make the heart soar. Often they are small fleeting moments that leave a large impression on the memory. If I were to earn a living at what I love most, it would be to experience and create these moments of beauty and inspiration. The best avenue I have found to do this is in the field of animation. As an animator, one has access to unlimited possibilities for expressing and evoking such moments, whether it is through abstraction or within the performance of a character. I hope one day to create films that take my audience through the beauty of life, be it in joy or pain, contentedness or despair. I want to create stories that will move people and help them to see Truth as it is in their lives and life at large. I hope my future work will contain something in it to provide someone that moment, that element that resonates with their soul and inspires them to be all they can be.

One day coming home I witnessed my mother crying. I didn’t think too much into it before I immediately rushed to her with a tissue. Her tears became faint, but what happened afterwards changed my life forever. She didn’t say anything, but instead she slightly grinned just enough to show that she had been overcome by happiness. I didn’t know how, why, or even when, I just knew that one day I wanted to take people in their darkest hours and make them smile. It was one day though when the financial aid office approved a loan that my mother frustration haltered when she had been overcome by that same grin I had seen as a child.
My idea for FINISH (Fundraising Intelligent Nations in Scholarship Help) originates from my own struggles with paying for school. Unexpected financial issues halted my initial plans of being at a four year university and graduating with honors. Initially I wanted to figure out a way to raise money for myself, but it wasn’t enough. I have a vision of not just stopping by helping myself but helping more and more people like myself. I would start by helping one student at a time from fundraising and use that as grants toward their tuition, and hopefully word will spread to other students and it will be networked. And that would be the importance of the organization I don’t FINISH we FINSH together!

Dance is the driving force in everything I do. It has given me a place to run to when I am feeling lost. It has been the inspiration behind the struggles of my life. It was my personal sanction. Although I was self-trained my entire life, it did not stop me from pursuing my dreams. I would use my garage as a studio, or reflections of buildings just to practice, often driven away. Knowing that there are many going through the same thing, it is a true struggle when you are limited. I want to change the world by providing third world countries with a campaign catering towards Performing Arts Centers. A sanction for the lost.
As a freshman in college, I am currently taking Hip-hop dance as a class, as well as other various training. My goal is to start in my homeland of Tonga, a third world country. By beginning there I will be able to slowly build and integrate the arts into the country. By providing them with this building, it will give them the strength to reach their full potential and learn to express their artistic feelings. From there on, I want to continue this process in other parts of the world, slowly reaching each child, teen, and adult. The arts are what opens the mind of visionaries and creators and with this scholarship, it will further push me to reach that goal and continue this journey, to change a life, one beat a time.

When I was eighteen I found I had a potential and if I continued to grow it I could make a grand differential. Words fall from my mouth with rhythmic precision; one beat spawns the next like cellular division. Others waste their talents on clubs and pole dancers, spread around filth, give the genre cancer. What we need is a lyrical revival, a renaissance of words. Golden ideals from a silver tongue are mightier than any sword.
Where on the right path with Eminem’s “Stan,” and Macklemore raps about homosexuality, a man loving another man. But Leo and Michael weren’t the only artists in the 15th century, and I want a chance to add my own master piece.
I’d start in a garage with an off brand beat maker with loose knobs and a broken shaker. I’d release an album, half fun, half serious. My parents would laugh and say “You’re delirious.” I wouldn’t sign a label, or any contract on a table. That way my music would be pure and to this corruption it could be a cure.
I’d tackle mass depression, a disease that makes a bad impression. It range is huge, consuming three hundred fifty million. A lot don’t see a way out and when they need to fight to live they become unwilling. They need to know suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, and that after their sorrow a beautiful life will blossom.

What I love doing most in the world is scuba diving. My career goal is to work in the ocean and train stingrays. If you have ever been to a touch tank where you get to pet stingrays there are a lot of rules that make the experience less enjoyable for the entire family. I will work with them as a trainer and researcher for the field of marine biology. This will change the world because it will help aquatic places with touch tanks get better business and provide every family that comes through with a more enjoyable memory. If they remember fondly the touch tank place, they will want to return. Also, the research I plan to do for the field will benefit the world and oceans all over the world. My first goal is to finish school with a PhD and work for a facility that specializes in stingrays. My second goal would be to start my own research lab and be my own boss. This career requires a lot of school and traveling and I can’t wait for it.

Being a Female Doctor

Scholarship Entrant: Medina from Kent, WA
Essay Question: If you could earn a living doing what you love most, what would it be, and how would it change the world? Describe the specific goals you would set to make that dream a reality.
Vote for Medina: [dot_recommends]

If I could earn a living doing what I love doing most. It would be being a doctor working with women and children. I would want to travel the world, and focus on war stricken places, or countries that have low to no access to healthcare.

They have seen so many terrible things in their lives, and for me to come and be able to cure them or heal them, just to see a smile on their face, I would do it a thousand times over. Just to see their happiness and gratefulness for their health.

Being a doctor, especially a female doctor will benefit the world and change it in many ways. I know that in many cultures, women usually feel uncomfortable going to a male doctor, but by being a female doctor I will help them feel more comfortable and I know for sure they will not hesitate to come forward with any problems they may have.

I am also very passionate about working with children. I believe that children, are the future, and they have the means to change the world. But in order for children to make a difference in the world, they must be healthy. They must be able to be healed when injured, given medicine when they are sick and given protection when they need it most.

For me, being a doctor, and traveling the world isn’t about the money. For me, it’s as simple as being able to put a smile on a child’s or a mothers face, and know that I have made an impact on their lives’.

Clay Figure Comic Books

The saying “go big or go home” is one that I hear all the time and there is merit to it when it comes to doing what you love. I have big dreams of becoming a comic creator, but not doing it the traditional way. I believe it will change the way comics are now and give clay a whole other part to itself. My goal is to increase my skills by taking as many classes as possible in using and understanding clay to create unique ball jointed figures of fantasy creatures, as well as people that are in my stories. I would also take a color photography class since I want keeping to the western style of comic book making as well as a landscape photography class to understand outdoor lighting and how to set up for specific shots throughout the day and night for all the background scenery. I would analyze all kinds of comic books from western to eastern comic styles to figure out my niche in the every growing comic industry where you either “go big or go home”.
