Dear Scholarship Search Committee:
My name is Ray Eriven, and I am writing this letter to you to express my interest in your scholarship fund. I am currently a sophomore at Metropolitan State University of Denver, studying in the Health Care Management field. As a veteran of the Marine Corps, MSU was a natural choice for enrollment, because of how well they cater to the veterans. I wish to serve people and the health care venue would be the perfect opportunity for me to do so. So far, my experience at MSU has been extremely pleasant; I have achieved a 3.84gpa, and I am a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS). I am a prime candidate for your scholarship for these reasons: I am focused and well disciplined, working with people is a joy to me, and the academic atmosphere is where I plan to invest my future.
I was employed at the Colorado Department of Revenue as an Administrative Assistant III for almost five years. My job was to supervise the temporary and permanent employees in the extraction process of all documents contained in the mail. Most of the documents that were extracted from the incoming mail are payments, fees, or state taxes that the taxpayers sent in for business or personal collection matters. The first two years of my employment as a document processor, I worked my way up to the lead worker position. There I supervised the extraction of all documents and the processing of all payments, collections, state taxes, and any other matters associated with the Department of Revenue. For three years I maintained that position until across the board lay-offs terminated my occupation as well as many others. In order to avoid any possible situations like this in my future; furthering my education is paramount, and I already have a good start.
Currently, my priorities are family and school where I try to be a positive role-model for my wife, daughter, and three stepchildren. My wife and I, keep the children focused on our Christian faith, education, sports, and a wholesome family environment, for their development. Thank you for your time, and please consider my letter for any possible scholarships.
