Ever since I was a little boy my favorite past time has always been reading about history, ancient Greece, the Roman Republic, The Crusades, Feudal Japan, the American Revolution, World War One, the list could go on for days. I want more than anything to share my love of history with young people that are otherwise apathetic; this is why I am pursuing a history degree and teaching certificate to teach high school history. I want to make my future students curious not only about great figures and pitched battles in history but also their own history, where they came from, how their families lived and why it makes them who they are today. By teaching Americas youth to care about the past I believe I can make them care about the future, make them care about how they themselves and they as a generation will be remembered not only by scholars but by their children and grandchildren. I firmly believe that without history we lose ourselves, we lose our identity as a people; perhaps I can change that. I certainly aim to try and make the world a better place, one history lesson at a time.
