If I could take on a job and earn a living doing what I love the most, the job I would choose would be a social worker. As a kid and young teen I have always felt comfort in being the one people come to when they needed to vent. I like to be there for people; to be that person they could shed a tear on and that person to talk to. When I was 14 years old, I watched a movie called case 39. Even though case 39 was a horror flick I loved the story because of the main character who was a social worker. The social worker in case 39 helped children overcome tragedies and even though some of the children had to go back to their homes the story was relatable.

As a social worker I would like to be the hero that no one was to me growing up. I have been through my own hardships as a child and I would like to be there for children to try and make sure they don’t go through some of the issues that I had to endure with no one to talk to. Your childhood should be the most precious memory you carry with you into adulthood and a social worker to young adults can help that become a smoother transition.

I have already accomplished one out many goals in my life and that was to graduate from my inner city high school. The next step for me is to complete four years of college hoping to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in social work. Graduating from college with my degree will help me be the hero to teens that I know I was made to be and make my dream a reality.
