One of Ronald Reagan’s quotes has really become the cornerstone and motivation for one of my greatest passions. He states that, “Freedom is always one generation away from extinction.” Because I believe there is truth in his statement, I have seen the value in training up leaders to strive for excellence and defend the freedoms we have in America.

I’ve had the opportunity to work with TeenPact Leadership Schools, an organization with a passion for training up youth to become leaders and mature individuals, ready to live with excellence by leading and serving others. This past spring I held a six month traveling internship with TeenPact, where I was blessed with the opportunity to travel across the nation to mentor and train up leaders by teaching them skills such as speaking, argumentation, and leadership. Through my experience with the ministry, I’ve grown to see much value in developing leadership skills in my own life, and equipping my generation with those skills. If I could earn a living by simply living out my passion of investing in the lives of youth, I would immediately accept that opportunity.

In order that America continue to be, as Ronald Reagan explains, “a shining city on a hill”, the next generation must be equipped to defend that title. By training my peers to recognize the value of leadership and the defense of our freedom, I believe we can make that city shine brighter, and that, I believe has the potential to change the world.
