I love listening to people tell their stories, because everyone has one. I believe that everyone has a past, a story, that shapes who they are, whether it be traumatic, banal, or somewhere in between. Unfortunately, not many people care or are curious enough to listen to other’s stories. I would be overjoyed if I could earn a living simply listening to people’s stories and conveying them to others. I would make sure work, school, living, and even neighboring communities took the time to learn and recognize the stories belonging to every individual near them because only then will they be able to appreciate them more. This would gradually change the world. There would no longer be the misunderstood loner who everyone ostracizes in school because no one takes the time to break through their protective shell. There will no longer be lies within the work place that covers a secret thought to be embarrassing, but actually everyone would understand. People will feel more comfortable and be themselves around others. And most importantly, there will be more peace and love because the more people understand each other the more they can empathize with each other, which leads to less destruction and more appreciation.
The goals I would set would be: 1 create an educational path that teaches students, who want to pursue this career, how to best obtain and relay another person’s story and 2 make it possible to share the stories in a way that brings people together.
