Most kids growing up fantasize about having super powers. Their imaginary powers range from invisibility to incredible strength. However, some children want to be psychic. For me, that dream is still a reality.
Okay, I know that being psychic is impossible, but in a way, I would like to be able to do that with my career choice. I want to know how someone would react to a situation based on their previous behavior. I want to predict what they’re going to do next. My dream is to become a criminal psychologist.
There is a lot of crime that occurs in the United States on a daily basis. I hear about it every day, and every day the crimes seem to become more violent than yesterday’s. I understand that there are always going to be bad people out there, and that they are always going to do bad things. I just want to know why. I want to be able to try to understand why a grown adult would enter a movie theater and shoot people inside it. I want to know why someone would go into a school and harm innocent children. It’s always the “why” that bothers me.
If I could understand that, then maybe it would help the world by making it easier to predict people’s behavior so these things don’t happen as often. And maybe it could help families of victims cope if they could sympathize with the criminal.
