How many people are willing to give up a safe job with a fairly lucrative salary to go after their dreams? Unfortunately, too few. I am aiming to be one of those few who chase the stars and, hopefully, this will be an inspiration to others to reach for their dreams.
All through-out life I have been fascinated with biology and the wonders of the abundance of life on this rock we inhabit. This fascination once lead me to a study in biology, but the ignorance of youth had me abandon this in favor of an easier path into the world of computers. After years of toiling in the tech industry the emptiness inside me had continued to grow, urging me to explore my passions.
Finally my heart implored me to lay out a plan to take my life from its security, and lay out a plan to follow a career which had meaning to me. I would quit my job and enroll myself into college once again, after more than a decade of sedentary studies. Community college, followed by a four-year institute, and finally graduate studies.
In so many years’ time, I would finally be free to explore the wonders of the world of biology. A study in virology, to be precise. The wonders of these sub-units of life and their ability to remap the basic building blocks of our very beings could open up untold advances in biological engineering and the ability to attack genetic and other diseases.
