All I ever wanted to be was a teacher. I dedicated myself to maintaining that dream until my senior year of high school. I took a general psychology class and realizing what my true calling was; I washed all those years of planning and becoming a teacher away. If I could earn a living by doing what I loved the most I would open up as many non-profit organizations as it took to give counseling and support to those who have been sexual abused and help them to rebuild their lives and live to the fullest potential they have to offer.
These non-profit organizations would be offered to men, women, and children. It is very important that these victims understand that the abuse they experienced is not their faults and their abusers are the ones who are solely responsible for what happened. Living with the shame and guilt that these victims face can become almost debilitating which makes it hard to live out a “normal life”. By giving them the proper, and free counseling, these individuals will be able to hold steady jobs and learn to cope with the emotions they are feeling in a healthy manner rather than turning to substance abuse.
They’re so many people who need help facing these issues and I want to be able to provide correct tools to help. This is why my dream would be to open up as many non-profit organizations without the limits of money to help victims become survivors.
