Becoming a Geriatric Nurse is my dream career, the career where I can make an impact on people life and make a difference everyday. My decision to become a nurse stems both from my passion for taking care of the elderly as well as from my time volunteering at the local nursing home. I have a special feeling for the older people, it is not just love and respect, but I also feel empathy for them. I would enjoy working at a nursing home setting and taking care of my elderly patients with genuinely caring for them. I would try my best to give them care with love and respect. We are living in a modern society, it seems like we tend to have the elderly live separately. Isolated inside the walls of nursing homes, our parents and grand parents feel lonely and depressed. For this reason, I would like to be a person who can heal their lonely hearts. In my opinion, human touch and human companionship are the best medicine for the elderly.
On April 23 of this year, I received the acceptance letter to Nursing Program at Blue Mountain Community College. This is my biggest accomplishment, and it provided me with encouragement to continue on my dream of becoming a nurse. My goal is to finish my bachelor degree and continue to pursue my master degree in nursing and become a Geriatric Nurse Practitioner.
