If I could earn a living doing what I love most, then I would be an Art Therapist. I am passionate about art and when I create artwork, how I feel is expressed in my creations. By creating art with children, they can express themselves physically by creating the art, as I do. Art therapists learn how to interpret the art and how to interact with the children. Not only does art provide expression, but it gives the child a chance to work through their feelings in a constructive way that sometimes cannot happen with words alone. There are a lot of children around the world that need therapy, but some children are too young to express their feelings verbally. Children have fun working with the therapist through the tough situations that are occurring in their lives. With an open and fun environment, children can feel safe and have fun while dealing with the deeper chaos swirling within themselves.
There are many children in the world today that do not have the capability of having an art therapist help them through the difficulties in their lives. By becoming an art therapist, I would be able to help more children through art, that otherwise would not be given that chance. In order to see this goal become a reality, I plan to continue my education and receive a Masters’ in Art therapy so that I may see this dream become a reality.
