“Teaching kids to count is fine, but teaching them what counts is best.” — Bob Talber. This quote is one of the many reasons why I am going into education. Teaching a child something that is meaningful and that will carry them all their lives are the best lesson that you can give them. I am a firm believer that teachers change the world every day. Teachers have the job of being an inspiration, a parent/guardian, and sometimes even a friend or counselor to students. A teacher has many roles to play, but they also have many that look up to them as role models.
I would use this scholarship to change the world by paying it forward. With this scholarship I will be able to work less (to pay for school) and to volunteer more at the local schools. The schools in my community like many others in the country have had a budget cut. Therefore, I could help the teachers that have lost an assistant and I could get experience at the same time. The best part is I will be doing something that I love, even before graduating.
In conclusion, I believe that teachers change the world because the quality of teaching is increasing. Look at how technology and medicine has changed over the years. All this is possible because of a teacher. Imagine where we would have be if a teacher never taught us a lesson.
