If I could earn a living doing what I love most, I would play music. I have taken private lessons on both flute and piano for about 6 years. Each instrument helps me to express exactly how I feel without saying a word. In order to accomplish this, I would get a degree in music performance, most likely from Indiana Jacobs School of Music. After graduating, I would join a symphony in a big city, such as Seattle, Washington. I would be able to play music often and make a living doing so. While it seems difficult to “change the world” playing music, it can be done-maybe not all at once, but little by little. The song “Happy Birthday” for example, was once a melody sung by an individual many years ago. It is now known nationally and sung at almost every birthday party all over the United States. Similarly, as a professional musician, I would have the opportunity to give private lessons to others, allowing them to hopefully find the same joy and expression in music as I do. My goal ultimately would be to change the lives of individuals by introducing them to music, and therefore allowing them to share it others.
