I am currently a sophomore at Carroll College in Helena, MT. I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) and a minor in psychology. I have a great love for foreign cultures, and I plan to study abroad whenever possible. I was able to secure scholarship funding for Semester at Sea’s 2014 summer voyage, so this June I will be earning nine college credits while traveling throughout Northern Europe. In the fall, I will be entering Carroll’s three-year nursing program. I hope to become more involved with Helena’s medical community in the upcoming years both through the nursing program and volunteer work. I plan on graduating from Carroll with my BSN in May 2017. Right now I am interested in medical outreach programs that aid underdeveloped communities with basic health care necessities. After I graduate, I hope to intern or possibly work for an organization that does this type of work.

I feel very passionate about public healthcare, and nursing is definitely the perfect career path for me. So far in college, I have not taken out any student loans. I plan to continue working hard both in school and in various jobs for the next three years to try to stay debt-free. The 2014 TakeLessons Scholarship would help relieve some of the financial stress that unavoidably comes with a college education. It would also get me closer to obtaining my degree and, therefore, help me obtain all of these goals.
