Videos We Love: World's Fastest "Flight of the Bumblebee"

September 11, 2012

“Flight of the Bumblebee” is one of the most easily-recognized orchestral pieces – it’s fast, energetic and keeps both the player and audience on the edge of their seats. But have you ever wondered just how fast it can be played?

UK violinist Ben Lee currently holds the title as the world’s fastest violin player, and it’s pretty cool to watch him zoom through the melody in his record-breaking performance – just 58.515 seconds.

Lee currently tours and plays as part of the rock violin duo Fuse, and is the first person to hold the Guinness World Record for Fastest Violin Player for both electric and acoustic. He was also the first violinist to break the elusive “magic-minute” barrier for the piece. Pretty impressive! So what do you think – will you be next to break the world record?
