You’ve seen those old-fashioned player pianos – but what would it look like with a 21st century upgrade?
Meet Stanley, the first interactive player piano. Have a song request? Just send it over via Tweet, and you’ll be serenaded by the MIDI-driven interface. Stanley debuted at this year’s Capitol Hill Block Party festival in Seattle July 20th-22nd, taking requests from Twitter users worldwide.
So how does it work? A computer programmed inside of the piano reads through incoming messages to @stanleypiano, and if it recognizes the song request in its database, the pre-made MIDI file is added to the playlist.
