TakeLessons Partners with NAMM for Third Annual SchoolJam USA Event

November 11, 2015

As part of our ongoing commitment to helping students of all ages achieve their musical goals, TakeLessons is pleased to announce that we will once again be partnering with the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) in support of their third annual SchoolJam USA battle of the bands competition. Scheduled to take place on January 21, 2012 in Anaheim, CA, the SchoolJam USA competition gives teen bands across the country the chance to earn national recognition, musical gear and money to support their hometown school music education programs.

According to NAMM, last year’s competition drew more than 150 bands eager to win the top spot as best teen band in America, with 48 talented bands hailing from more than 20 U.S. cities making it to the semi-finals. More than 112,000 votes were cast during a four-week period, leading up to the announcement of top 10 finalist bands, which competed for the winning title at the 2011 NAMM Show. Last year’s winning band “Peligro” from Gahanna, Ohio, won the coveted platinum album-shaped trophy and the grand-prize trip to Europe to perform at the 2011 SchoolJam Germany finals in Frankfurt, a private music video recording session on the John Lennon Educational Bus, money toward new gear for their band and money to support their local school music programs.

Middle and high school teens who aspire to be discovered by music industry professionals, have a passion for music, and want to help promote the significance of their schools’ music programs, can enter the SchoolJam USA competition between August 1 and October 21, 2011 at www.schooljamusa.com.
