Samantha D. is wonderful. My kids play so well for only 1 year'sworth of lessons. I would highly recommend her to anyone! I am blownaway by the music that comes out of the Piano from a 7 and 11 year old.My 11 year old signed up for her first music competition at school. Ifyou told me one year ago I would have girls playing a piano, I would notbelieve you. I truly thought they would quit after a couple of months. Not the case. They are musically talented and still love it. Thanks toSamantha D! They are now thriving in the in-school music program.Thank you, TakeLessons, for filtering out the best teachers. When achild has a small window of interest, you have to grab it the rightway...the wrong teacher would not have given me these results.

Highly Recommend her!

My daughters (10, & 6) have only had three lessons with Samantha! They love it. Her nature is kind and welcoming. She can tell how much they can handle so doesn't overwhelm them with too much theory or pieces to play. She strikes a nice balance. My 10 year old started composing her own song when she became bord with the beginner book! Samantha has added to this excitement and changed her teaching style to match my daughters learning style. My daughter was beaming! Samantha has taught her how to take the next pieces of theory and add it to her song. She also ordered music my daughter enjoys like Selena Gomez. My 6 year old is excited every week and doesn't want to be late. My husband and I thought this would be just another thing to start and quit. So far they are going strong!

Fred L.

Reading, PA

About Fred

Hi, my name is Fred Lingenfelser, and I'm a drum and piano instructor in Berks County (Reading, PA). I've been playing drums for the past 20 years, as well as piano for the past 10 years, and have been a studio drummer for multiple albums, while touring both nationally and internationally with multiple music groups. I've been a music instructor since 2009, and have seen over 40 students become more skilled musicians over that span of time. In addition to teaching drums and piano, I'm also an assistant teacher for the BCIU in the Reading School District, and have a bachelors of science in Yout
h Ministry from Valley Forge Christian College.

I aim to make lessons lessons 1. affordable, 2. fun, and 3. effective. I believe that music plays an important role in the lives of humans, and it is very beneficial to be able to play an instrument. For myself, playing music is more than just a hobby; it's a passion. I strive to see other students (child, teenager, and adult) form the same passion for their instrument that I have, while expressing themselves with their own styles of play. If you're a prospective drum or piano student or the parent of one, I'd be more than honored to be your instructor.

*** Lesson Details ***
I offer lessons of any time length, from a half hour up to two hours. I try to make lessons as affordable as possible, while making them as fun as possible. Seeing a student succeed and gain a passion for their instrument is my number one goal.

I have availabilities each day of the week Mondays-Fridays. You can look over my schedule to see my current openings.

Brad was very capable, and worked with my three teenage boys very well. They enjoyed learning from him, and they definitely improved!

When finals time came around for him, he had to cancel a couple of lessons unexpectedly. Then I heard that he moved away this summer, so we have to go to a new teacher. His overall communication with the parent could have been better.
Austin B. May 25, 2015
I am a former student of New England Conservatory along with Brad and I played several gigs with him. Brad has a great demeanor and he's very easy to work with. Beyond this, he is a great creative partner who gives and takes criticism easily. He has a firm knowledge of his instrument as well as music theory. Brad has a genuine interest in his students success as well as his colleagues. He understands how fun music can be and has a great sense of humor that lends itself to teaching.

Music Theory · In home
I never thought I would confidently understand music theory, even after years of practice, self-teaching, college electives, etc... I just never felt like I "got" it. Brad changed all that. Studying music theory with Brad's guidance and encouragement, I quickly began to feel as though I could "speak" music fluently.

Brad is a phenomenal teacher, and can adapt to almost any situation. If I wasn't understanding something, he never got frustrated, he would find a way to explain it differently until something finally stuck. That's very important I think. I've had too many teachers give up and say, "If you don't get this, you never will." Brad doesn't think like that. To him, "just not getting it" isn't an option. If you want to learn something, he'll find a way to teach it to you.
