Teri has taught voice for over 15 years to all ages and all levels, led and trained various bands and groups for over 17 years. She is a club hit recording artist and premier LA vocal coach. Her vocals have graced full length CD's, cuts on various records, performances on TV and radio, and gained her a nomination for Best Female Vocalist, All Access Music Awards. She is the author of Vocal Essentials for the Pop Singer: Take Your Singing from Good to Great, from Hal Leonard Publishing. Teri has a Master's Degree in Education and a Bachelors Degree in Speech Pathology. Children Voice lessons build confidence and enthusiasm, and help prepare children for performing in front of others. Singing at a young age develops vocal abilities, but more importantly develops a child's aural abilities (recognizing melodies, harmonies, etc.) as well as the ability to focus, take direction and be creative.
Performing / Recording / Vocal Health Recording. performing and touring presents unique challenges to singers. By concentrating on breathing, vocal production and tension reduction, warm-up exercises, and range building exercises, these lessons help increase stamina, build vocal tone, and reduce the effects of vocal fatigue for those who sing long hours at a time.
Church / Worship Leading Singing on praise/worship teams is an art form all of it's own. Lessons centered around this kind of singing focus on the areas of blending, tone, hearing harmonies, and keeping your part in a group. For the soloist / worship leader, lessons help in the areas of projection, tone, range, runs, and breathing.

Hello, welcome to my profile and thank you for taking the time to check it out. I am happy to introduce myself to you and share that teaching the performing arts is one of the greatest joys of my life.
I am a performing artist and teacher in Los Angeles, teaching a variety of classes from music, dance and theatre. I graduated from San Francisco State University in 2009 where I received a BA in Classical Music, a BA in Dance with a focus in choreography, and a minor in Multi-Cultural Theatre. I have such a strong, well-rounded background in many styles because I value creative explorati
on. As a vocalist, I studied classical voice since I was 16 years old, trained at SFSU and La Universidad de Catolica in Santiago, Chile and consider that as strong foundation, but always explored other styles. I loved singing with the SFSU Gospel Choir and the SFSU Afro-Cuban Jazz Ensemble, playing a mix of Latin folkloric music, Salsa and jazz. Currently I am focused on musical theatre and my own compositions. As a pianist, I began playing piano when I was 7 years old and basically self taught. I received more formal training at SFSU and in music education classes, yet I credit my skills more to my own exploration. I approach my lessons with more creativity and patience, allowing students to discover how they best learn music. I consider the same with trombone. I feel in love with it one day hearing Dixieland jazz when I was 16 and haven’t stopped playing since.
I have been teaching private and group piano, trombone, voice, theatre and dance lessons for the past 8 years. I have taught from my private home studio, private music studios, community centers and public and private schools. I have worked with children as young as 5 years to adults in their 60s. I have also worked in after school programs for many years and supervised and designed music, dance and musical theatre programs for children K-8th.
*** Lesson Details *** Considering taking lessons with me? Great!
I am very insightful, sensitive, flexible, patient and focused. I like to have fun with lessons and I laugh a lot. Joy is key and I enjoy seeing my students learn and improve. With my training as a musician, I always make sure that there is good technique and good practice habits. I wouldn't consider myself totally laid back because I do expect students to practice, (otherwise, how do you expect to get better?) yet my expectations depend on the personal goals and level of the students. I am here to teach you what YOU want to learn and tailor my lessons to that. This includes teaching whatever style you want to learn, be it pop, classical, musical theatre or R&B. It's all good to me. As for the lessons, I start with fundamental techniques that are then later applied to songs. My intention is to assist students in reaching their personal music goals, which could range from wanting to feel good about their voice to preparing for a talent show or professional audition. I always encourage students to learn how to read music and basic theory as well performance techniques.
How I structure lessons:
Voice 1) body awareness and warm-ups 2) breathing exercises 3) vocalizes 4) focus on one vocal technique for the lesson 5) ear training with solfeggio 6) song and performance
Piano 1) body awareness and warm-ups (especially hands) 2) finger coordination exercises 3) scales and arpeggios 4) ear training with solfeggio 5) song and performance
Trombone 1) body awareness and posture 2) breathing exercises and warm-ups 3) scales, slides and arpeggios 4) ear training with solfeggio 5) song and performance
Dance (depending on style) 1) warm-ups and isolations 2) dance material
STYLES Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Cha Cha, Waltz, East Coast Swing
*** Studio Equipment *** electric piano and trombone woodfloors for dance
*** Travel Equipment *** I bring a small keyboard for vocal students with no piano, though I'd prefer if students have their own keyboard. Students are expected to purchase all necessary books and sheet music. If it is an in home lesson (where I come to your home) I prefer a minimum of 45 minutes for the lesson. Thank you!
*** Specialties *** beginners (piano, trombone and voice) intermediate and advanced voice

Stephanie is a wonderful teacher with the most positive attitude! I've been singing with her for over a year now, and I can really see the growth I've accomplished under her careful guidance . She has great understanding of all the different styles of music that I like to sing. Most importantly, she makes me feel at ease in her presence. I would highly recommend Stephanie as a vocal teacher for a person of any age.

My experience with Stephanie has been exceptionally awesome and inspiring over the last year. She is sensitive, super positive, and full of light and energy when it comes to guidance. I have never felt so confident as a singer, and though I still have a little bit to go before Broadway, I highly recommend her to anyone interested in rapidly developing or fine tuning their singing voice. She is also exceptionally talented as a singer herself and truly tailors sessions to really benefit your particular goals and vision for where you want to bloom as a singer.
Diction, projection, proper breathing. I address any issue that needs to be corrected or improved.

It really is more (Voice Acting) Script interpretation, and Diction; how to pronounce words in a script or paragraph, correctly. Fawn didn't waste any time, I was concerned about my Skype audio, no problem, and after a little wrangling, I figured out how to send her an audio file, and script I wanted her to look over.
She made notes, gave me suggestions, made comments on what I sent her, I'll do my home work; because I want to improve, and we'll do it again next week; same time time, same station... Sorry couldn't help that! She's the kind of coach I need right now!

I have never had online lessons before, and I was really worried that it wasn't going to work. However, Fawn exceeding my expectations. She made me feel so comfortable, which made it that much easier to be myself.
At the age of six, I started taking lessons. I ended up staying with that vocal coach until the age of 21, when she told me that I needed to find a more advanced vocal coach. I found someone who was really good, but I didn't feel that I was going anywhere with her. After my 1st lesson with Fawn, I said to myself, "Bingo! Someone who knows her stuff, knows what I need to do to be successful and will be there to help me do so." Thank you Fawn!! :)
I couldn't be happier with my choice. It's hasn't even been 24 hours, and I'm already looking forward to our next lesson. Thank you Fawn!! :)

Samara has really helped me break out of my shell. She is honest and thorough and really cares about her students success. I sometimes even refer to her as my therapist and my guru... She is that good!
Thank you Samara!

I worked with Samara on monologues for college auditions and for my showcase, we worked together for a little under (I think) three months. She's such a great teacher, definitely no complaints. I really loved working with her and she totally helped build my confidence when it came to performing in front of others—I'm (or was) ironically shy/weird about performing monologues and pieces in front of people and have been since I started doing theatre (10 years ago). Nonetheless, I got over that after Samara helped me with my acting and I don't get pre-performance anxiety/nerves anymore. I don't think I would've been able to pull off any of my monologues had it not been for her lessons, she actually helped me choose one of the audition monologues because I couldn't find a second one. In the whole monologue/character-building process, she took notes and asked me questions that really made me think about my character and their motives and actions and whatnot. She's also very encouraging and would commend me on anything I did well or improved on. Point is, Samara is a superb teacher and human!! I'd confidently recommend her classes to anyone who needs help with their acting. Five stars because she definitely was the best instructor ever!!
Brock M. April 4, 2015
I can't really put into words how great (and funny) Samara is. I wasn't sure if learning how to act online was going to work for me, but I can safely say after 5 Skype sessions with Samara, they have been totally worth it and more! In our lessons, I have learned about how to approach and analyze a script, what to do in cold-readings, handling nerves, how to give a memorable audition, really nifty relaxation and concentration techniques, and so much more. I always value Samara's insights not only into the craft of acting but the business aspect of it as well. Basically, she's a rockstar and I just feel lucky I stumbled upon her lesson page. Without which, I don't know if I'd have the confidence to pursue my dream of becoming a professional actor!! Thanks a billion, Samara!
