3 months ago our 7 year old daughter decided she wanted to learn how to play the drums, so naturally we (I mean my husband..lol) bought her an electric drum set (early Christmas present). However at this time she had never played and knew nothing about reading music. Fortunately we found Keith online and it has been an amazing experience. Keith was patient and made learning to play and read music fun. My daughter learned so much and more importantly looked forward to her lessons each week. Unfortunately due to military orders we had to leave the area otherwise we would have stayed with Keith as her teach for a very long time.

Keith is absolutely fantastic. My son began lessons with him when he turned nine and Keith has made the whole learning music process extremely enjoyable for him. Always full of encouragement, patience, and enthusiasm, the lessons show how much Keith loves music and the drums and how much he invests in each student, getting to know them as people more than just as drum students. We thought we might have to try a few teachers out before settling on someone but after one or two lessons, we knew we would be thrilled to have Keith teach our son for years to come.

Priscilla D.

Silver Spring, MD

About Priscilla

I TRULY LOVE to mentor young creatives in music and the arts and I thrive in being personable with each of my little musicians. I believe I'm 100% qualified in educating youth in music theory, piano, guitar and visual arts. I'm a versatile professional who truly loves to teach and learn music and visual arts. I believe in the importance of adapting my teachings to each students needs. Through my 15 years of studying and teaching Music in both here in the US and in Brazil I've come to realize with the support of my mentors, peers and my family that my goal is to educate children in the arts for
the enrichment of culture in our community here in the DMV metro region. It's vital to me to teach arts alternatively and I'll do so for always with great passion that some say is contagious! So get on board with me and let's Make Music and Create Art!

*** Lesson Details ***
I have an easy-going, yet structured approach that allows each student to achieve results effectively at his or her own pace. I believe that there is a connection between music, movement and language that intertwine and support each other through the development process. I specialize in teaching all kinds of styles from Classical, Pop,Bossa Nova in guitar, piano and music theory lessons. I Love to emphasize various playing techniques, music theory, ear training, music reading, and more. The materials for teaching varies.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano, Books, Metronome, Guitar

*** Travel Equipment ***
note book, assigned books and sheet music assigned

*** Specialties ***
Guitar, Piano, Music Theory and Performance is what we do !
My main goal is to present students with simplified arrangements of standard repertoire concentrating on sight-reading and writing composition as well as playing all sorts of variety of music genres. Use of the metronome is needed, and very often the exercises defy the tendency to play by ear or in the position pattern. We will focus 1/2 of the lesson on repertoire and 1/2 the lesson on the technique. I have my students let me know via email what songs they would like to work on for the weeks lesson a few days prior to the lesson, then I cater the technical study during the lesson to help them learn the song we are working on. It has been proven to be very effective and makes the technique and theory are less uninteresting.
Through good vibes we all learn and grow tremendously so with that said come and Jam with me.

Dennis B.

Bethesda, MD

About Dennis

I have been teaching guitar for 25 years in the Washington DC metro area. I work with students 12 years of age and up, but I am especially experienced at teaching adult students regardless of whether they are beginners or have previous guitar experience. I have performed in acoustic Celtic, new age, funk, progressive rock, fusion and contemporary jazz groups and am currently performing regularly as a solo acoustic guitarist. I have composed over 40 works for solo guitar as well as numerous pieces for small jazz bands. I have played on numerous CDs including my most recent solo CD 'DARK MATTER'
.

*** Lesson Details ***
I tailor the lesson materials to suit the interest of the student but I am dedicated to teaching students at any level to learn to better understand the fundamentals of the language of music. My teaching focuses on critical fundamentals of guitar technique including chords, scales and rhythm guitar playing as well as the art of improvisation. A significant amount of time in the lessons is spent actually playing with the students so that the technical concepts are put to use in real music situations. To further the student's understanding of music I frequently teach elements of music theory to those who are interested.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have guitars and amps available for student use although I prefer that the student bring their own instrument. I also have all the needed accessories, cables, stands etc.

*** Specialties ***
Adult students (and older teenagers ) whether beginners or experienced are a particular specialty of mine. Adult learners want to be treated as adults and often times benefit greatly from a more mentor oriented approach to teaching. I like to describe myself as both a teacher and a coach so as to emphasize that the student and I are on the same team sharing the goal of improving their guitar playing and musicianship. We are both on the same path of musical discovery. I am probably just farther along on that path with insights and knowledge that will hopefully help them along their way.
