I look forward to the lessons every week. Russ takes the time an ensures that the information provided is understood as well as performed correctly. Homework is always a blast. How many times can anybody say that? I would recommend Russ to any level of performer, if just to sharpen exisiting skills or start from the very beginning, Russ has the ability to get you to the level "you" want to be at with your drum playing. Russ will also introduce books that can be practiced out of when that homework is assigned. Great instructor and as become a good friend. If you want to learn the drums....call Russ!

I've been working with Russell for several months now. I took instruction 35 years ago but never progressed. As I was young and moving on to other things. Fast forward to now, I'm 51 years old and working with him on a weekly basis has taken farther faster than I could have imagined. He makes lessons fun and I really look forward to them. I have also seen him play live and sing. He's an amazing talent!

I purchased acoustic guitar lessons for my husband as a Christmas gift and he took his first lesson on January 2nd 2016. I accompanied my husband to his lesson and met Joey. He is a very nice and personable guy. My husband was very pleased with his first lesson and said Joey was an excellent teacher with a lot of knowledge and patience. My husband already knows the basics of guitar playing but had hit a roadblock and couldn't seem to go any further without some good instructions. Some people are good at playing but just don't have the skill and patience for teaching others but Joey does. Mu husband learned some new things with his first lesson and came with some homework. Way to go Joey!

Gavin G.

Gastonia, NC

About Gavin

Several years ago I found that my passion was sharing my musical talents with people. While I am young, I love music and and I love teaching. I've always felt that teaching is just as important as performing. My style of teaching is a little different, my goal is to give people musical tools so one day they won't need me. I remember as a young boy my very first teacher made sure that I could be an independent musician that loves being creative and exploring different ideas and sounds. I want to pay that forward now. If you're curious about how beneficial becoming a musician is, I can surely sa
y it builds character, passion, motivation, drive, deep-thinking skills, and determination. It has been proven that playing a musical instrument can help children in school and adults within their workplaces.

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree from Brevard College which is a highly esteemed liberal arts university. I am also a hired session musician for Noalynn Studio in Bessemer City NC. I have 15 years of experience, 14 of those years I have been taught by some very renown musicians such as: Dr. Laura Franklin (Studied directly under "Vic Firth"), Henry Davis (studied under Charlotte symphony principal chair "Rick Dior", as well as several others for extended periods of time. I was a guest artist in the Spartanburg Symphony and I am also endorsed by 1710 Percussion, Dream Cymbals, and Rich Sticks. Finally, I have 6 years of teaching experience where I have worked with people with special needs as well as physically disabled people. I am proficient in piano and have taken piano lessons for 4 years. I am able to teach the basics of piano and I'm very proficient in music theory for any instrument needed.

I've never learned anything from Gavin. However, I have seen him play several times in a few different bands. He is very versatile, and has always been very knowledgable and happy to answer any questions I've had about percussion. I guess in that right, I have learned a lot from him. He's a great dude, and is always happy to work with and help people.

What a wonderful experience I've had with Gavin. I've learned more from him than he will ever know. He is a very determined musician with the skills it takes to be successful in most any venture he attempts. He is very patient with children and has a passion to see those around him learn. He is also very humble about his accomplishments; however, takes a lot of pride in his ability to perform, lead and teach music. His passion for life and the art of music is undeniable and has blessed many along his path.
