Thomas is great. My 5-year old daughter took to him immediately, and while this was only her first lesson I already saw her interest sparked. He's not just a musician, but a true educator - which is crucial for kids of a younger age starting a new instrument.

Valeriya has been a great cello teacher for me, as a beginner student. She has helped me to build a strong foundation in basic skills and inspired my confidence. Valeriya is kind and personable, and at the same timer honest in providing constructive criticism. Each lesson, she takes detailed notes to support me in my practice throughout the week. Last but certainly not least, she is flexible with her schedule and always punctual.

I feel very fortunate to be her student. Her teaching style is thoughtful, kind and full of humor. As an an adult beginner student with her I am learning the importance of correct posture, arm and hand position but also understanding meaningful playing comes from soft and supple and not fom tension and strain. I only feel encouraged by her patient, enthusiastic and expert approach.

Lian Q.

I've been teaching Cello for 10 years and my students have gone on to develop a deep love of music performance, study abroad in China and France! Within the first few lessons, you'll start some finger exercise and as time goes on, you'll be able to play whatever you want to play! I also specialize in Chamber music available for your lessons to help you play with orchestra in the future. I love working with students of all experience levels!

About Lian

Lian is available for in-home, in-studio, and online lessons! She has been playing Cello for over 23 years and teaching music since 2005. Attended Syracuse University and Duquesne University for 2 Masters and 2 Diplomas. She teaches all experience levels from beginner to intermediate and advanced.

Although trained in standard teaching methods, she developed her own method of teaching to positively enhance the student€™s strength, dexterity, ear-training, memorization and techniques. Her goal as a teacher is specifically designed to help you achieve your goals as an musician. She also hosts
student showcases/charity benefits, festivals and boot camp where her students are able to get on stage and show off their new talent.

Lessons are scheduled to best fit to the student'€™s schedule when possible. She is a very patient instructor and understands that students learn at a different pace, after all everyone is an individual!

Brian S.

Brooklyn, NY

I believe in teaching the fundamentals first and foremost. Students will learn how to have a proper technique in all aspects of the cello, because from there anything is possible. However, I also believe that the love of music is just as important as understanding how to play it, so as soon as possible I like to make music with my students, either by playing duets with them or by improvising with them.

About Brian

Cellist Brian S. is currently an active performer and studio musician in many genres of music, with performances ranging from touring with rock bands to giving classical performances at venues such as the Kennedy Center and, most recently, the White House, and has more than 60 album credits.

Brian believes that all students have different goals and learning styles, and has a passion for helping them achieve those goals. He believes that with a strong focus on the fundamentals of technique and a desire to learn, anything is possible.

We love Brian! He's been a fantastic first exposure to musical training for my 4 year old. Brian works at my daughter's pace to provide both confidence and challenge. And he understands that young kids will sometimes be moody, distractible or shy and he rolls with the punches. Brian also understands the motivational power of praise and is able to keep my sensitive daughter encouraged to keep trying.
