B I O G R A P H Y I was born and raised in London England, where I first discovered my love of music. Growing up I studied classical piano for 10 years, and was educated through the Royal Associated Board and Trinity College. Moving to the states, I carried my musical passion and took further instruction in voice, guitar, saxophone, and violin. I graduated in 2011 from a pioneering local music school and have maintained a home teaching studio for several years. I have experience working with students from all ages and musical backgrounds, primarily working on improvisation, theory and composition. Kathleen G. Blue Springs, MO

Teaching for over 40 years, classic to blues and all in between

Accordion and Piano are my secondary instruments.

The Palmer Hughes method consist of about 7 books piano and 10 for accordion. I will teach to book 5 on the accordion, and to book 6 on the piano. This will put you well into the advanced level and time to find a teacher who will help you to develop Advanced Technics in your special genera of music. You will leave with a firm foundation for what ever you wish to continue in..

On average a student will complete a book in about a years or less.

I have played all genres of music at one time or another, but my favorite is playing in a old style Big Band. There is nothing sweeter than a band playing the blues and swing, even better when there is a floor for dancing . I have far more training and exposure on the woodwind instruments because of my background, but will teach the others instruments gladly.

About Kathleen

'I have been participating in band and musical programs for over 30 years in the Kansas City Area. I am activity in a brass octet called the "Joyful Sound Brass Ensemble". We play at nursing home, churches, and other function in and around our area. I began my musical training when I was 5. I started on a small 12 bass accordion and loved it. I moved up to the full size accordions when I was 6 years old and it was as big as I was! I wanted to learn more, so my mom took pity on me and pulled out her alto saxophone for me when I was 8. My love of music grew more with each instrument I learned. With the help ...

Kathy is a wonderful teacher

My son is 9 and has been taking lessons with Kathy for about 5 months. We started him on lessons right after the instrument "try it" day the summer prior to him starting band. He went into the try it day wanting to play drums and ended up changing his mind to play flute! He didn't know anything about the flute or how to read music when he started and she had him going in not time. My wife and I are both band nerds and highly recommend Kathy for any instrument instruction needs. She has always been wonderful at meeting our son's needs and adjusting her lessons as needed to meet the needs of my son.

I encourage each pianist to discover his or her own passion for playing! I have more than 30 years of experience teaching ...

Tom is a most excellent vocal instructor

Tom is a wonderful teacher. He is always cheerful and encouraging and positive. He searches for the best selections to match my voice. He helps me work toward the best I can be and doesn't let me "settle" for anything less. Best of all, he is so fun to be with.

Piano Lessons

I started taking piano lessons from Dr Garrison in August 0f 2012. He has taught me about music notes and all their meanings. I started as a beginner with no musical knowledge or background. I am 56 and with Dr Garrison teaching method, knowledge and education he's given me the understanding I need to continue to learn from his instructions. Any questionsed that I have he has an answer for and each problem I have he solves each and everytime. I started my first lesson with an old keyboard I brought at a yard sale, but never used it. Since I have been under the instructions of Dr Garrison I have brought a Baldwin piano without any hesitation. I truly know with his teaching method/instructions that I will continue to learn something new at each lesson.

Michael F. Pleasant Hill, MO

I love to teach piano in a way that my students will be playing a song already in the first or second lesson! There are so many genres and techniques to master with the piano that I won't pretend to be a master of them all, but if you're an advanced student I will most definitely be able to push and expand your playing to new heights as well with my unique ear training techniques and jazz background. I teach students of all ages, levels, and backgrounds on this instrument.

About Michael

I love teaching students that love music of absolutely any age! Some of my favorite students are senior citizens starting a new hobby. No matter what the age, I love to see my students faces light up when they realize that they can play music that they love so easily. I can't count the amount of times that my students have told me, "I should have started doing this a long time ago."
