Veroslav is a tremendously patient expert piano instrument for my two children, ages 6 and 12. He has a gentle way of guiding kids who may feel shy. I’m just blown away by my children’s progress in piano skills in just a couple of months, but also see how much their self-confidence has grown through doing well at something completely new! Absolutely recommend Veroslav, and we feel so lucky to have been connected to with him!

I started teaching oboe while finishing my bachelor's degree, and have found it to be incredibly rewarding. I love sharing my knowledge, helping my students advance and find even greater enjoyment playing. I feel very fortunate because as a regularly performing musician, I have the opportunity to immerse myself in many styles of music. Though it is incredibly important to learn the basics of oboe, and to become educated in the classics, expanding one's pallet with pop, jazz and world-music, for example, may also come into play.

During lessons we'll focus on technique building exercises, pieces from the standard oboe repertoire, and will often play duets together. If you are in school and would like to bring your band/orchestra music to lessons, feel free!

Since reeds are such an important part of being an oboe player, I teach reed adjustments for students playing at an intermediate level, and for advanced students, reed making from scratch.

My philosophy is that music is ...

About Alison
Thank you for visiting my profile!

As a professional musician, I have played in various ensembles including orchestras, opera companies, wind ensembles, chamber groups, musicals and more. The Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra (BCCO), presenting 3-5 concerts a year, has been my orchestral home since 2013 and I have had the privilege of playing principal oboe with them all throughout.

As a music educator I have years of experience teaching privately and in classrooms, for individuals and groups. I craft lessons to the needs and interests of each student, to ensure they are getting the most out of our time together. Many of my students enjoy, for example, video game and TV show music - so, these pieces are some of the repertoire we'll work on together. My goals as a teacher are to instill proper playing technique, guide how to
shape the music, establish good practice habits, and above all find ways to connect students with the music they're studying. At the end of the day, we play music because it's fun!

About Tina
I've been teaching private lessons for over 15 years. I am a high school music teacher/band director and a freelance musician. I'm looking forward to making music with you!

Your lessons are up to you! If you know what you want to learn, I'll help get you there. If you don't know where to start, I can lead you through the fundamentals and help you set goals.

I like to keep things positive in music lessons. Music is, after all, for fun and enjoyment! I like to blend teaching technique and musicianship, while keeping things fun.

If you're a beginner, we'll get started with all the fundamentals you need to begin making music. If you've been playing for a while, I'll help you perfect things you've been working on, expand your musical experience, and help you reach your fullest potential as a musician.

I have been playing and teaching oboe for over 35 years. Many of my students have gone on to play in universities with scholarships, but more importantly have developed a love of music. I was the founder and co-artistic director of an award winning chamber group where we had two on-going subscription series. Within the first few lessons you will be able to read musical notation, understand basic music theory, and play simple songs. Depending on your ability, I will choose the right method book for you. I love working with students of all ages and can't wait to meet you!
My teaching style is relaxed, but highly structured. My former students made great advancements with my guidance. However, no advancement can be achieved without the student putting in the necessary time at home to practice their instrument.

About Jill
I have been a professional musician for over 35 years and have taught beginning piano and oboe privately and in group classes. I will make your lessons fun and exciting and teach to your abilities. I also use music apps and games that keep students interested for longer than just sitting at the piano. I believe that all children are inherently musical and the study of music can help a student in all aspects of their life, not just music.

*** Studio Equipment ***
In addition to the standard music stands, metronome, tuners and music, I have digital recording equipment for student's audition recordings. I have helped college bound students get into serious music programs like Arizona State University and the University of Arizona. For students ages 5 to 9 years old, I recommend the recorder as a introductory woodwind before learning t
he oboe.

To become an oboist, it is important to not only learn the music, but to put a little bit of yourself into every note you play! Playing such a unique and beautiful instrument like the oboe is a joy that I look forward to experiencing with each of my students. Every oboe lesson is customized to the individual's desires and needs. Throughout lessons, we will work on basic fundamentals, repertoire, and musicianship. With over 6 years of teaching experience, I am confident that you will be playing in no time! I also specialize in reed-making, and love helping students with their reeds, as well as sell personalized reeds.

About Emilia
I have been teaching private voice and oboe lessons since 2012. From pop to classical, I believe that as long as you maintain a healthy foundation, you can sing and play any style of music you want! Throughout my career, I have been featured as a vocalist and oboist on Billboard-charting and award-winning albums that vary in genre and style, and have learned that you can conquer any style you wish with the right fundamentals. I have been playing and singing since I was 8 years old, and recently graduated from the University of Southern California with my Masters in Oboe Performance, having graduated from Chapman University with my Bachelors in Music Performance with a double emphasis in Vocal and Oboe Performance in 2016.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano, electric keyboard, acoustic guitar, oboe, english horn, video camera with profess
ional-level sound, iMAC, speakers.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Portable keyboard, music stand, laptop, iPad, recording devices that can have recordings sent to students after or during lessons!

*** Specialties ***
I trained classically but personally enjoy singing Pop and Musical Theatre. Because of my background, I like to make sure that my students have good technique that carries through to singing any style they like so that they can accomplish all of their goals without damaging their voices and affecting their health. I have extensive experience with singing in languages including Spanish, French, German, and Italian and like my students to experience different languages as well.

Hello!

I have my Bachelor's degree in Music from Rhode Island College, where I studied oboe and bassoon. I can make and adjust reeds, to best help my students produce a sound that they are happy with. I am currently pursuing my Master's degree at Longy School of Music, in Boston.

Lessons can be as relaxed or fast-paced as they need to be, I take a very individualized approach to meet the needs of each student's abilities. I love to give my students choices in their musical path- making music should be fun and enjoyable! Despite that, we still get to business when we have to.

Let's make some music together!

About Alyssa
Hi there, I'm so glad you're here!

I am a supportive and encouraging teacher willing to teach all ages and abilities. It is my firm belief that music is for everyone!

I am currently pursuing my Master of Arts in Teaching at Rhode Island College. I studied Oboe Performance at Longy School of Music for a year before decidingto pursue education further (I love teaching too much!.) I completed my undergraduate work at Rhode Island College, where I studied oboe and bassoon privately. I am currently on the private lesson roster for two public schools in the area, and teach both double-reeded instruments. I have successfully helped young students prepare for and audition into district and all state level ensembles.

I have reed-making experience and can assist students with finicky reeds, to help ease the most frustrating part about pl
aying oboe & bassoon.

I'm looking forward to working with you!

I have some experience with oboe in the wind ensemble. In my class, you will learn the basics of the double reed, position, breathing, fingerings, and scales. We will also have fun together with other music pieces within your level. Looking forward to see you!

About Wankun
Hi, I'm Wankun, a college student at CUNY John Jay College of Criminal Justice. I've many diverse interests, from music to science. I believe that everybody can do both with a balance, and so far, I'm loving it.

Music was always part of my life. I started to play piano when I was 6 and I've advanced it when I was in high school. Still, there are always room for improvement so I'm still practicing to this day. After I moved to the US I start learning other instruments too. In high school I played oboe in wind ensemble and flute in marching band. I always loved hanging out with our school band, just enjoying music in a friendly, cooperative environment. I love music so much, that I listen to songs every day, and I'm planning to do a music minor.

Math and science is another part of my life that I enjoy. As a kid, I was always intereste
d in science documentaries. In school I was the top students in math and science. I learn really quickly so I got ahead of the subjects. I passed the AP text for Chemistry in my sophomore year and the Calculus AB text in my junior year. Currently, I'm studying for Forensic Science at my College.

I don't have a lot of teaching experience, but I believe my ability to share my knowledge with others. I love helping people and I understand that learning can sometimes be overwhelming and boring. So I always love to teach with some twists, we can both enjoy the session and also complete our goal: to advance your knowledge.

Thank you for being interested in me to be your teacher. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Lessons are focused around having fun while becoming a full rounded musician and stellar oboe player. In addition to gaining the fundamental skills necessary to master the art of the oboe, we cover everything from music theory to reeds and anything in between. All levels and ages are welcome. It is never too late to start!

About Zoe
I am a performer, administrator, and arts advocate with an aim to inspire audiences in unconventional ways. A Native of Miami, Florida, I started my musical studies at the age of 12 and has been an active member of the Miami and Baltimore music scenes ever since. Since coming to Baltimore to study at the Peabody Conservatory in 2011, I have had the opportunity to perform with nearly every large ensemble in the school and have also performed in Yale's Norfolk Summer Music Festival, as faculty at the New York Summer Music festival during my time studying in conservatory, and with the Occasional Symphony. I regularly perform in the Baltimore/DC metro area as a freelance oboist and member of the contemporary chamber orchestra, Mind on Fire. I also have performed with the Columbia Orchestra, Classical Revolution Baltimore, and many other estee
med local organizations. I have also been featured as a woodwind clinician in Baltimore County and Howard County public schools classrooms and have been the oboe adjudicator for the middle and high school division of the Howard County Solo & Ensembles for the past three years.

I graduated from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University with a Masters in Oboe Performance in 2016. I additionally hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance as well as a Teaching Certificate from the Peabody Conservatory. During my time at Peabody, I studied under Jane Marvine, English Horn of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.

While studying at Peabody, my passion for music education was ignited and I really enjoyed exploring the development of my skills and resources both as a classroom and studio teacher. It is my personal mission to enrich students through music education while still having fun and learning to apply skills learned in music to other areas of life.

I am currently the Operations Manager with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Previously, I have held administrative positions with cultural organizations such as the Baltimore Choral Arts Society and the New York Philharmonic. I have been on both sides of the music industry and classroom, so I know what it takes to become a professional musician, and take a nuanced pedagogical approach to help each student achieve their goals in a way that suits them individually - no two students are the same! I believe each student should have a strong fundamental layer in technique and understanding of music theory, but should also focus on having fun while playing music, otherwise, what is the point?

Outside of oboe I enjoy hiking with my dog, painting, yoga, and Cuban food.

I currently am a music director at a Catholic church where I sing and play the piano, although my music experience is much more extensive. My primary instrument is the oboe (I have a B.M. degree in oboe performance), but I also play and teach the violin, piano and voice.

As well as music directing and teaching, I am a huge theatre nerd! I love musicals especially and my usual role is director or stage manager. I can offer pre-audition lessons to help you prepare for anything you may have coming up : )
