Award-Winning Teacher - Learn To Read Quickly and Accurately.

Teaching Reading is one of my specialties..

About Matthew
Hi.. My name is Matt. I'm a very energetic, friendly, understanding & passionate music coach who has worked with students & clientele throughout the US. Possessing more than 25 years of music training & music industry experience, I've been able to take people's Playing to amazing levels.

In my musical travels I've networked or shared the stage with many famous NW music legends:
1.) Roger Fisher- Heart-2013 Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame Inductee
2.) Lynn Sorensen- Paul Rogers/Bad Co/KZOK's Spike & Impalers
3.) Donny Evola - Geoff Tate/Former Queensryche/Foghat
4.) Jeff Kathan- Paul Rogers/Bad Company/Montrose
5.) Doug Mcgrew- Geoff Tate/Former Queensryche Singer/Operation Mindcrime
6.) Update - For the last year I have been playing off and on with Rudy Parris from NBC TV's "The Voice". Season 3 - Team Blake. He is an incredible music
ian and I'm proud to call him and his manager my friends. His new album coming out is nothing short of amazing.

In fact everyone I've mentioned above are pro all the way and great guys as well. I"m honored to have played with them.

I challenge my students to view music more than just as a "skill", but also a tool to communicate effectively and to combat life's obstacles.

I have had many guitar teachers myself including one true Famous Rock Star legend here in Pacific NW. Congrats Rog. U Earned It, & inspire myself, & others everyday.

You got to know the rules 1st, before you can then break the rules. This is how you develop your own unique style. And it's what separates the Pro Players from the rest of the pack.

But even if you don't want to play professionally, maybe you just want to learn a few chords, licks, songs, for yourself, or to impress friends. That's okay too!

I welcome every level and style. I always learn something from my students.
That's what music is all about. Learning & trading tips and licks from other musicians.

Bottom Line Is... I can help you learn and progress on your instrument faster...

Let me be the Music Coach to get you there!

Mathew is awesome! We did have a few problems, there was a big lag in the internet and the screen kept freezing, also the quality of the video was fuzzy, so it made it hard to see what he was showing us. I think if these problems are addressed I would give a 5 star review, for Convience if Jessen and 5 stars for Matthew and his teaching g style!

I teach all forms of literacy including listening, speaking, writing, and reading English. I teach grammar, phonics, word recognition and comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, and effective, expressive, and creative writing skills. I have been an avid reader and writer ever since my elementary school days. At college, I received a perfect score on my departmental English exam. I have three education degrees: A double bachelor's in elementary education and music, and a master's in reading. I am presently a Mesa Laubach Literacy Council Board Member and Tutor. I love to help students become more proficient in the English language.

About Karen
Karen R. was born and raised in a musical family in Lindstrom, Minnesota. Karen has loved to sing and play instruments almost all of her life, and became passionate about music early in her childhood. She has played 7 instruments proficiently including piano, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, ukulele, trombone, recorder, and voice (also an instrument). As a child, Karen took private instruction in piano and classical guitar. She sang and played guitar in her first band in the fifth grade! In high school she played trombone in band, bass guitar in stage band, and sang in the high school choir and stage chorus. In high school, she also sang and played acoustic and bass guitar in a rock band called the 6 pack, who performed for school dances and community events. Karen was also the singer and guitarist, leading the Young Life group. Even though
Karen has had training in many instruments, she has had the most training in voice.

As an adult, Karen has sung extensively in church choirs, women's ensembles, and has been a featured vocal soloist at church services, Christian retreats, and women's ministry events. She was extensively involved in vocal music at Grace Community Christian Church, where she was the singer and guitarist leading and teaching songs to women Bible study groups, preschoolers at vacation Bible school, and Kids Praise Club for elementary aged children. For Kids Praise Club, she also taught the children the choreography for the performances. Presently, Karen is a Choir Director for the K-6 Choristers group at First Presbyterian Church (FPC) in Mesa, AZ., and also taught singing and choreography to the children at VBS at FPC. Karen also had a main roles as Mrs. Paroo in The Music Man in April of 2013, and Mrs. Bucket in Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory in April, 2014, The Jailer's Daughter in Wind in the Willows, and Mrs. Brill in Mary Poppins, Mrs. Darling and a Pirate in Peter Pan, performed by the First Players at FPC. Additionally. Karen is presently a substitute elementary school and music teacher at Grace Christian Academy, Bethany Christian School, and teaches General Music K-12 at Young Disciples Christian Academy part-time.

During Karen's college career, she was a voice major at Mesa Community College (MCC) and Grand Canyon University (GCU). At MCC, she performed in the Sun Valley Chorale (SVC) and Cadence women vocal jazz ensemble. SVC performed classical songs at the Mesa Arts Center, and Cadence performed jazz songs for MCC events. Karen was also involved in musical theater at MCC. Karen was an opera singer at Night at the Opera, and a Broadway singer at Broadway Bound, both at MCC. At GCU, Karen has been in the President Singers, Canyon Singers, Canyon Chorale, and Union Choirs. Canyon Singers were the honor students and ambassadors for GCU who traveled locally and out of state to recruit students for GCU. As a voice major, Karen has had 9 semesters (4 ½ years) of private voice instruction under the tuteladge of Dr. Cathy Hauan at MCC, and Dr. Sheila Corley at GCU. Karen has three degrees from GCU: A Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a Minor in Music, a Master's of Education in Reading and Curriculum, and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. Music is Karens passion and she desires to teach it to all ages and stages of people. Music is the universal language and creates joy and healing in the soul.

Presently, Karen owns her own home music studio called Starshine School of Music in which she teaches piano, voice, and guitar. Karen also teaches Take Lessons music students (an online music student placement company) piano, voice, and guitar in her home. Karen is also an active Mary Kay Consultant.

*** Lesson Details ***
Karen's teaching style is very patient, nurturing, encouraging, and fun-loving. Karen is a teacher who sets loving but firm boundaries and guidelines. She implements structure and organization, but is not overly strict and harsh. She believes in encouraging, loving, and imparting knowledge with her students so that they will maximize their potentiality and their inner musical stars will shine.
Karen teaches piano, voice, guitar, and music theory for beginning through intermediate (for voice she teaches beginning through advanced). The curriculum that Karen uses is varied according to the student's personality and learning level. She uses her vast knowledge and information from her education and past experiences, and also Alfred Essentials of Music Theory, Alfred's Instructional books, Hal Leonard Pro-vocal Series, Faber Piano Adventures for all levels, and other resources. She also uses an assignment lesson plan book so that each student will know her clear objectives, what is expected of them and so that communication is established with the student's parents if the student is under 18. Additionally, Karen uses incentives, a point system, and rewards for self-discipline, consistent practicing, musical accomplishment and growth, and a good attitude.
Karen's students learn and perform remarkably well because of her very loving, organized, and comprehensive teaching style. They progress in amazing ways on a weekly and monthly basis. They look forward to coming to their lessons because they are treated with such respect and care. They know that Karen has such a passion and love for music, which is so contagious and is passed on to them. Therefore, these music lessons are enjoyable and enriching for the teacher and student alike.

6 years experience in tutoring through the No Child Left Behind program and independent tutoring. Using a variety of materials and games, student reaches their goals in reading.

About Natalie
Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, at the age of 9, Natalie knew music was something that was just a part of who she was. Writing songs on the piano before lessons could be scheduled, Natalie found herself immersed in a medium that would bring her joy for the rest of her life.

By age 14 Natalie had won several trophies competing in Classical piano with the Illinois Music Association.

As an adult, she would go on to fill her life with the world of music as a singer, songwriter, performer and recording artist.

Graduating from Elmhurst College (1997) with a Bachelor's in Music, Natalie received high accolades earning a membership in the Lambda Sigma Psi Music Honor Society.

During her college years, Natalie created and owned a local music publication called, "The Local Buzz". At this moment she had discovered her
desire to teach. "I just wanted everyone I knew in music to know and use what I was learning, or had learned from the music classes, professionals I had been meeting and working with, and my overall music life experiences". By 1997, Natalie was signed to an independent label and embarked on a new adventure.

"Music is an adventure, but without the foundation and passion I had as a child, I would have never landed where I did. I truly LOVE to teach and share what I know about piano, and the world of music. Music is what I know, and know best. Helping to create a solid foundation and build confidence in someone embarking on a journey in music is the most rewarding profession I have ever had the honor of participating in."

*** Lesson Details ***
Natalie enjoys teaching students of any age, but specializes in piano, voice and beginning guitar, tailoring lessons to each individual's goals and reasons for learning whether it be for personal pleasure or professional performance.

Keeping things lighthearted and fun, Natalie breathes confidence into each student using her sense of humor, and down-to-earth personality.

Feeding off 40 years of personal and professional experiences, Natalie patiently listens to the student's desires, needs and notates their learning patterns, allowing for growth at their own pace.

Natalie's goal is to Make Music Matter to you and create a foundation that will allow you to continue to find joy in making music for the rest of your life.

I am in my second year of homeschooling and had prayed specifically for a male teacher to come alongside us and assist in our homeschooling adventure. Although my son, who is six, is not having any difficulties at the moment, homeschooling is still new to me and I was hoping I could find someone who would keep us accountable and help fill in any gaps in my son's schooling. We have found Maurice to be just what we needed. He is engaging and encouraging and has been helpful in sharing strategies and teaching techniques that foster comprehensive learning and not merely memorization.

I work with students to enhance reading skills by building key skills.

About Catherine
I am a pianist with over 13 years experience. I also play the organ, clarinet and have some experience with voice. I enjoy teaching keyboard instruments, playing and composing for the piano and organ. I believe that a fun, no pressure approach to playing helps students develop a love for the instrument and increases their skill level.
I currently play the organ for a church congregation, but love to add pieces from musical theater and classics into my playing and practice sessions. I may or may not crank out all the stops and belt Phantom of the Opera when I'm alone practicing :) My favorite thing about learning music is the ability you gain to make the world a happier place by adding your music to it. I believe in working in fun pieces, such as a favorite song, into my students piano repertoire to keep the joy of learning an instrument
alive.

My lifelong love of reading and writing has manifested in my authoring two books and being the founder and executive director of a writing organization for children for the past five years. As executive director, I oversee curriculums and facilitate a variety of workshops. My greatest joy is seeing the light in a child's eyes when they have mastered something new. I have taught ages 4-6 in London England as a college intern, I have been the director of an educational program in New York City and I have worked with high school students through a national dropout prevention organization to improve their writing and ability to craft successful college essays. Combined, I have over twenty years working with children and inspiring their greater selves.

Each lesson is personalized and specific to one's ability. Now let's get ready to have some fun!

About Jonita
As a mother of four, my first duty was to be the best and first teacher my children ever had. I have incorporated that love of teaching to other young people.

I believe in setting great expectations and celebrating small accomplishments, they, in turn, lead to bigger ones. I love working with children and have made this my business for over twenty years.

I have a bachelor's degree in psychology, a minor in marketing and am currently working on my master's of fine art's degree in writing. I have self-published two books and am currently working on two more. I have founded the Royal Writers Organization, a nonprofit writing program for children and have brought workshops to children, schools and their community institutions for the last five years.

I was that child who wrote and read under my covers with a flashlight, way af
ter the time my parents told me to go to sleep. I wrote until my pencil forged its resting place on the side of my finger. This passion for writing is what I want for my students, and of which I have succeeded in bringing forth in varying degrees. I enjoy traveling to the worlds that lie within books and look forward to taking my students along with me.
