My approach as a music teacher is to first teach the student to relax and have fun with their instrument. I use backing tracks to help the student feel a beat or groove to a song. This is very important. Theory, technic and ear training are important but useless if the student doesn't first feel and enjoy music. We all sing along and dance to our favorite songs but in many cases, the joy goes away when we begin to actually study music. I don't want to take the joy away. First we have fun. Playing is learning.

I am a versatile and experienced performer, and I have had opportunities to perform in a variety of contexts. As a soloist, I have given solo recitals and performed as a featured soloist with the MSM Symphony and the Yale Philharmonia. My diverse collaborative experiences have allowed me to develop a vast knowledge of chamber music repertoire ranging from early music to contemporary works. As a result, I know that I would be able to thoughtfully select repertoire for my students and program innovative, exciting student recitals.
I consider myself to be a versatile guitarist and perform equally on classical and electric guitar. I love playing and teaching all kinds of different styles including classical, jazz, rock, pop, fingerstyle, blues, folk, bossanova and flamenco. Lesson Content

The content of the lessons are tailored to the individual depending on their age, interests and goals.
For younger students or beginners who are unsure about their motives for learning their instrument I like to introduce both music notation and tablature right from the get go.
I cover basic songs, correct instrument technique and various genres. Once they have learnt the fundamentals of their instrument and have had a taste of the different ways forward the student normally has a good idea of where they want to go next.
For people who just want to learn how to play their favorite songs and prefer a more casual approach then a typical lesson would involve looking at which songs they are interested in which are within their skill level then downloading the chords/tablature and sitting down and tackling the song together.
For more advanced players lessons may involve in-depth music theory, compositional techniques, improvisation and all the tech-nerd stuff that ...
